David released his debut album last November of 2008. It has already sold a over a million copies and is still selling up to this date. You should check it out. :-)

If AI 7 site is showing this Dolly Parton's video, how come we can't find David Archuleta's Smokey Mountain Memories video ? Cook's videos are the only ones prominently shown in the first 8 pages. It's not one of my favorite performances of David's AI competition songs, but that wasn't such an easy number to sing. I don't think anyone else could have done a better rendition. Great job,David!
Cook is a kind and loving person. While on the A.I. tour he visited Luke Menard (a former contestant) in the hospital who was undergoing threatment for cancer. Luke's medical insurance did not cover all the costs--Cook gave him some money to help cover those costs and it only came out recently when Menard talked about it. None of the other contestants did that.

RockOnDC: People don't get it--to them everything is Pop and they classify "Rock" as Alternative music. Rock is "classic" and "All-American" and David Cook is ROCK. He's not tween/pop or pop he's ROCK. A "rose" by any other name is still a rose.

Logicedia - before anyone goes after you for saying that, I have traveled the world (with the military) and, as an American - I can safely say - you are right.
I would go out of my way to travel as far as I could from the bases when I was on Liberty mainly because I was embarrassed at how so so many of them acted and the cringe at what would come out of their mouths.

OK, since you have no clue, I will explain it to you. The sparrow is a tiny bird. Tiny birds are fragile, love is fragile. It's a metaphor. You may (I hope) have learned about metaphors in school. Music is full of them.

RockOnDC: People don't get it--to them everything is Pop and they classify "Rock" as Alternative music. Rock is "classic" and "All-American" and David Cook is ROCK. He's not tween/pop or pop he's ROCK. A "rose" by any other name is still a rose.

I can understand if someone doesn't like a song or a singing style, but I can't understand this immaturity with the "hate" thing. You would expect that from a 10 year old...maybe. Cook does an outstanding job on this with his own version. His voice is awesome.

I actually had the opportunity to meet and talk with David Cook at the Idol Concert in Columbus, OH. He's such a kind, down-to-earth person, and he even gave me a hug and a picture. <3
I can't wait for his album to come out!

I'm 4 mo.late, Indy, but had to say, you go girl! When these idiots make their stupid accusations, I want to scream everything you wrote in these posts. Almost no one had heard those renditions before David sang them, & he did sing them differently (certainly hotter), he increased the iTunes downloads of artists he covered on AI, made lots of other people money, and gave the ones you mentioned a lot of free publicity. They should have been kissing his feet and backing away on their knees. : )

I agree. I know who Cris Cornell is, but I had never heard of his Billie Jean cover. I love Neil Diamond, but Dave once again choose 2 songs that I had never heard of and he hit them out the ball park. During idol he also picked songs I had heard of like ER, So Happy together, Day Tripper, Hello, and Alright Now, and made them current and hot again.
