  • It is NOT 10%... it is 10+2%... who do you think is going to pay those 2% they shift on corporations?!! They're taking money from left pocket and placing into right pocket calling it a solution... I think HST is a great idea and they should do the same thing with income tax (I don't need two governments) but enough is enough this is BS and I'm voting YES get rid of it!

  • The point here is that all poltical parties are corrupt .Vote YES to repeal this unjust tax. :-)

  • Check cafr1.com for facts of the truth about corrupt goverments. Let me ask you some questions. 1) How is money created 2) who controls the Bank of Canada ? 4) Who did Glen Clarke go to work for after he resigned from office ? 5) What did former B.C. I.W.A. president Jack Monroe get caught for 6) What did Perley Edmund Holmes recently get busted for ? 7) What did Ken Georgetti get charged with ? NDP is a real honest bunch of politcians just like the Liberals.

  • Call what you want. The point is that any political party whether it’s the NDP or liberals, both have would imposed this tax. Both parties are filled with dishonest greedy lawyers that have no understanding of responsible economic decisions. Both parties have proven this in the past. Look back in the 1990s what did the NDP do for the province ? Casino gate , Glen Clarkes casino liscence scam. The Fast ferries fiasco. Both parties are corrupt, wake up and smell the coffee

  • ‎"Cutting the HST by one point is more than $800 million out of the budget this year and every year after, $1.6 billion for a two-point cut...we're going to have $1.6 billion fewer heart operations, special-needs teachers, school facilities, hospital emergency rooms."

CHRISTY CLARK, March 2011 explaining that she wouldn't cut the HST rate from 12% to 10% because it would force cuts to health and education.

  • Kevin Falcon is a idiot. His economics are pure stupidity. See cafr1.com to understand that all the political parties are crooks. They are collecting way to much tax. Where does it go? You can't trust a bunch of lawyers to understand fiscal resposibility. All they do is write more stupid laws on how to collect more taxes to finance them and there stupid friends. Vote Libertarian from freedom of life. Less goverment ,less taxes, better life

  • @radicalone77

The HST is purely ideological and has nothing to do with economics.

"This particular tax takes the tax off business, it takes $1.8 billion off businesses and puts it on consumers, and so that shift is a shift that is ideological as well as factual."

    - Former BC Liberal finance minister Carole Taylor on the HST

  • $175 to screw BC

  • Kevin Falcon is an arsehole with a capital"A". This dick is seriously stupid. $120 dollars a year is 10 Dollars a month. Most of us low income bracket piss that in the pot on a daily bases with the acception of course those on welfare.

Tax the businesses they are the one with the ability to hide additional taxes. We pay for it anyway with what they sell us.

  • Kevin Falcon is an arsehole with a capital"A"

  • DON'T FORGET this so called drop to 10% won't come until AFTER the next election... Then of course, just before the election they will claim if you VOTE against them, the NDP will keep the tax at 12%... AXE THE TAX NOW.

  • @fahansen Seems like a pretty transparent attempt to buy people with their own money

  • Here's how I'll accept the HST: Keep it at 12% if you want, but return to taxing all the original products they were while we had gst+pst.

  • Tax me on what I SPEND not on what I EARN.

So I'll accept the HST on the condition they abolish income tax

  • The Liberals seem to dwell on their own panel’s conclusions that the HST will cost the average family $350/year. BUT they are ignoring other studies which estimate higher costs – the C.D. Howe Institute study estimated $550/year and a comprehensive Statistics Canada study estimated the cost to a family earning $80-90,000/year an additional $1198/year.

The $230 cheque to seniors with income under $20,000 will be paid quarterly with cheques of $57.50 every 3 months. Wow! Such a deal!

  • The Liberals may say there is no change for 80% of purchases under the HST , BUT the remaining 20% will cost far more than their one-time $175 bribe.

Energy Star appliances were exempt from the PST; now pay +7% under the HST.

Homeowners will pay +7% on all renovations, replacement windows and labor on plumbing, electrical, drainage, landscaping, heating services, etc. A $30,000 new roof will cost an extra $2,100 under the HST.

A one-time payment of $175 doesn't begin to cover these costs.

  • @CanadianFamily It is amazing how many more things that we should tax less from bicycles to heating will cost more under HST

  • So if we approve the HST now, the Liberals will lower the HST by 1% in 2012 and another 1% in 2014. BUT, the current legislation won’t be changed to incorporate this proposed bribe before the HST vote.

This means we will have to TRUST a government that lied to not only the voters but also the business sector that they would never bring in the HST. Sorry Christy, but your government does NOT have an enviable record when it comes to honesty and the mea culpa by Kevin Falcon just doesn’t fly.
