i just had a debate with a real fundamentalist. he basically said that the bible is real because it is god's word and god is real because the bible says so. because you know the bible exists their is no excuse to not believe it , or you will burn in hell. you can't trust rational thought because logic and reason are the path to destruction. period. end of discussion. you cannot disprove this since rational thought is wrong. believe me or burn in hell. have a nice day.
Religion gives people the right to believe they are better than everyone else and they can oppress those not following their faith, much like a cult.
Humanity itself is a testament to our greed. Our only goal is to fulfill our desires at any cost, including the well-being of others. Instead of improving life and curing disease, we create weapons to kill our neighbors and rob them of their riches.
Both religion and humanity are a disease for which only one cure exists:
What I mean is that it has been my expeirence that atheists are atheists simply because they feel they can disprove the bible or some other scripture.
In my opinion, that appears to be very shaky ground on which to base the ideas of atheism. Curious that I never run across atheist trying to disprove Shintoism or Jainism or even Zoroastrianism. Which actually has holy texts as well. I wonder why that is?
I believe the reason atheist don't try to disprove Shintoism or Jainism or even Zoroastrianism is because these people aren't knocking on our door trying to sell us their faith. Plus, those religions are very minimal in the US.
You are right. After I researched it more I found that no in the Qur'an does it say to kill non believers. I did find that it peremitted them to defend themselves from their enemies, but not to attack them.
It is the extrmist who kill the nonbelievers. On both sides, Christian and Islam, there are extremist who kill in the name of god. Even though their god does not tell them to do so. In fact the bible says to love your enemies and pray for them, not kill them.
Your right if you look at the odds the universe is really big for us to be the only life. I don't think God would create such a huge univers just for us. I think that the purpose was to show his glory. I mean loo at it. The stars and galaxies are just beautiful.
Earth is the only planet that has life on it. Earth was living in perfect harmony. everything worked together, but then we sinned and now its not perfect.
Well if you ever studied the other religions you would find that Christianity is the only one where God doesn't want you to do anything but love and worship him as intended. In other religions, Islam for example you must go and blow yourself up with a bunch of other nonbelievers to get to "paradise".
If you dont read it in context it will never make sense. You have to realize when it was written and who it was written to. Some of the things are literal and some are figurative.
God created the earth perfect. The we humans screwed it up. However, because God loves us, instead of condemning us all to Hell He sent his perfect son to die in our place. Now all we must do is accept, repent, and believe to be saved.
If I am wrong then I just die like everyone else, but if you are wrong and don't accept Jesus you burn in Hell forever.
Your verses in Exodus are not about sex slaves. They are about the rules and rights of slaves.
And all of your verses about the "child abuse" are not about that. If you had read the whole chapter you would have found that the the death of the Isrealite children was one of the many things that would happen if they continued disobeying.
Do I belive Jesus Existed? Not sure, it's possible.
Do I belive he walked on water, raised the dead and so on? No
The problem in my oppinion is the fact that people are taking the Bible too seriously, both belivers and atheists alike. It was written to amaze and keep in order somewhat primitive people. Here's an example. Why do you think the muslims are not allowed to drink alcohol and eat pork?(Read on, it's didn't fitt)
If you look at the area where Islam was founded and the average temperatures in that area you kinda start to get it. Because the most efficient way to explain to an ignorant primitive person that it's not a good idea to get wasted and stuffed with fat rich food, and then pass out in the sun is to tell him "Allah forbidds it". That is why the Bible, the Kur'an and so on were written in the way they were. To keep the ignorant morons in line. Only problem is, we are now inteligent and mostly...
and mostly edjucated enough to understand certain things, but we still consider the "holy books" to be the root of all wisdom. Stop looking for the already served answers and start getting some answers on your own and you will be a lot better off.
Nothing else eh. You think that the only thing Christians have to prove their point is "a book". Why dont you open your eyes and look around you. Look at everything from the smallest microbes, to the stars in the sky. It all has a purpose. They were all uniquely created. Anybody can look around and realize that it didn't just explode into esistence by chance.
FIrst off ClydeSeal , I never said Christian so don't assume. I said Religion. As in All.
Why do things have to have a "purpose"?
I don't believe they do.
How do you keep people good? An imaginary God who you can't see... but the God listens to you and will reward you if you follow the "rules" that it told humans to write in a book.. (A book in which many things contradict themselves) ... and if your not obedient, then the "Loving" God will make you burn in hell forever.
I am not sure which religion you are reffering to so I am going to make the defense for Christianity (which I don't really consider religion, but thats a different agrument).
Now let's say you are right there is no God, no pupose, etc. What would this world be like. CHAOS. People would do whatever they wanted murder, stealing, cheating, lying, and everything else considered wrong. Because there is no punishment for what they do. And if this God was imaginary nobody would fear Him. (continued)
So the World will go to CHAOS without a God. Look at all the wars that Religion has caused. You have a warped view imho. If there was a God then there would be no famine, death of innocent children, etc. And please don't give me the sorry excuse that "Gods Plan" does that. pffft. An invisible man with an invisible plan.
If the World would go to crapola without God then its the Religious who would make it that way. I do believe in Santa though. ;)
You are right both times. Humans screw things up. That is why there is war and chaos. God is perfect he stops it before they fall into complete chaos. Now there are some things he doesn't stop like famine, car crashes, etc. I don't know why, but I am sure he has a reson.
Your last statement doesn't even make sense. You said "the World would go to crapola without God then its the Religious who would make it that way" If there was no God there would be no "Religious" to make the World crapola.
Probably didn't make sense... I tend to do that in my "need for sleep" stupor.
What I was trying to say is that WHY do people believe that God keeps the world good? Maybe he keeps the Religious people good but the rest of us would remain the same. Only people left to create chaos is the Religious. Most religious people believe that the non-believers create the chaos.
So if we do, how will chaos get any worse UNLESS you have the religious figured in?
There is no reason for God to stop famine, car crashes, etc... A true, loving God would NOT allow pain and suffering in the first place. As for the line "i'm sure he has a reason"... thats a cheap way out imho. That line can be used for anything that the religious can't explain thats bad... for good they say MIRACLE, that usually their answer. While I'm sure there might be something out there, I do not believe God intervenes in the lives of humans. If he did... the world would not be like it is
I was taking your comment as Religious purpose. Not literal. Of course I get up everyday looking forward to my kids and work and all the things people need to keep them from going crazy (such as me). Though I personally think those items are more "needs" that "purpose", imho Clyde.
I have no reason to fear death and i'm getting closer than I want to be... but I understand it happens to every living thing on earth and I believe we have the same ending. Hopefully... I'm wrong.
My question is why, why bother getting up why bother going to work. It doesnt make any difference. The world will still go around following chance whether or not you do anything with the way you think.
And what do you mean death happens, "Hopefully... I'm wrong" you do realize that if your wrong you burn in Hell forever. I mean that sounds cruel but its the truth.
If I'm right then I go to heaven when I die, and if I'm wrong then I'm no better off than anyone else. So its a win win for me
If there is a "reason" that your god lets innocent people suffer, pregnant single mothers working 2 jobs to feed her other children to die in car crashes, and forgives serial killers and repists simply because they sincerely asked him for forgiveness... then this is not a being with morals... this is a 12 year old searching desperately for everyones attention. "Worship me, and only me, or I will make you burn in agony for all time.". No sir, not a being I would enjoy spending any time with.
Jesus was presented with a "scenario" about a woman who'd had seven husbands who'd all died on her. The Pharisees wanted to know to which husband she would belong to in heaven.
Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven." Matthew 22
even a child born in the forest with one mother and no pre-detemend knowledge will believe in something that is of greater force then he is. doesnt matter what you want to call it. Some gave it a name, some made it a rock, others the wind etc.
and it is in our fundemental character to believe and hope.
but remember, it is most important to respect the idea's of another for it is all subjective. the mistake is in collectiveness.
Oh man, I thought I was actually going to watch a video that had some actual arguments and value... well there's two and a half minutes of my life I can't get back.
Why is it that Christians always come back with some angry, childish insult? Is it because you're getting angry at the fact you can't find any truth in what you believe in.. So you comment on stuff like 'ZOMG U SPELT DIS WRONG LOLOL'
Just grow up, and don't argue if you can't.. basically.
5/5 even though I don't know what this video is a response to...
Also I wouldn't say everyone is born an atheist, but essentially the point you were getting across is that no one was born Christian. They were religionless.
Im guessing your an advocet of the flying spaghetti monster. You make some good points, but i disagree when you say the bible is TOTALLY full of bullshit. Alot of the christian faith is fundementally good because it teaches love for fellow man. That said, you can't beat it for horseshit when it comes to views on most other things.
yes, everyone is born not knowing God, but God has everything planned out. he picked out his sons and daughters even before time. if you try to find the meaning of life, then you will find no answer, because "there is no God."
i definitely feel very bad for you, because you can't even fathom the love and plans that God has for his children. God's plans puts man's greatest dreams to shame.
I would think everyone is born agnostic, not athiest (if that is the set type philosophy we are going by). Saying someone has a religious or non-religious stance upon conception would be subjective either way.
Direct quote: "Well, it would be very hard for you to understand without comparing something framiliar" (0:38) Framiliar? Wtf is framiliar? If there is a God, he hates you and any friends you're framiliar with.
Hey whore, that was already pointed out; try reading comments every know and then so we don't have to read the same thing twice.
Also, you only use a colon if you're going to list something. While I'm here I might as well mention that you forgot to add a period at the end of the quote.
One more thing, if you're referring to just a generic god, you don't capitalize the g.
LOL, I love how people who believe in the bible come on here and point out spelling errors, LOL.
Is that the best you can do? Look, dont get mad because you believe in something imaginary.
Either admit its imaginary and still believe, or admit it and stop believing because you have nothing to go on, NOTHING. You can try all day, and pull stuff out of the air all you want, you still cant prove it.
Evolution can't be proved, you only believe it because some scientists say it's true. Carbon dating is false, they have nothing the know is 1,000,000 years old to base it on. I knew of a man who would chemically date artifacts he made to have a carbon reading of thousands of years. So carbon dating is a crock.
Other credible archaeologists have found human bones in the same layer as supposed dinosaur bones so what with that?
Then, what came first the egg or the hen and rooster, it takes two.
Right, but according to your logic so does: Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, the Sandman, Unicorns, Goblins, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and Leprechauns.
sry but can you show me that, I don't see it. He quotes from Roman2:14-15 to show that "Everyone is born as an athiest" is absolutely not true. So I wrote that comment to show that he can not use that Roman2:14-15 to prove anything, because that's not a matter of course like Sun raise from East
Great video. And for any of you who still believe in god, open your eyes. If you're above the age of 12, you have no excuse for not thinking for yourself. God's a fairy tale.
The internet? How about this...bees create their hives according to magnetic fields upon the earth, their minds pick up on this and they build accordingly. You can't see these "webs" of energy...but they exist...the patterns that make the internet possible, the codes which is written, ALL found in nature...there goes YOUR "argument" if you even want to call it that...
Man, I really hope your prepared. IF you have not read the bible from cover to cover, I really recommend it. Keep searching for the truth. And the Native American thing... They got there from the Tower of Babel. No Joke. Peace and Knowledge!
Prepared for what? What sort of evidence do you have about the Native Americans getting 'there' from the tower of babel? Because it says so in a book? haha
You apparently don't know what qualifies as evidence. anything that point to its existence or anything that has origins indicating the reality of a claim is evidence just a certain type of evidence. There is archaeological, written, and even more.
We Native Americans had religion before the Christians came, like all civilization in every era had. To say otherwise is ignorant and possibly racist.
Well common sense tells me after humans are old enough to develop such thoughts? What new-born do you know who's Christian? Or one who's Islamic? Oh that's right! None!
Ok, so your purpose in the original statement was to portray the natural person as an atheist, where as now you say that can they choose God when they're old enough to know who he is. Deceptive. Or did I read you wrong. Please inform me of such fallacies in my logic.
Ok, you just took what I was saying in a different direction, but if you want to go there, I will.
How's this: NO proof for Santa, MUCH proof for God. Example? Even if you believe in evolution, which I don't, there are so many holes in it, God had to be involved. Try watching that upcoming movie, "Expelled" by Ben Stein.
Not god means evolution, unless you have your own theory. Evolution is only a theory because there's is no substantial proof, not to mention living fossils, lack of in between fossils, and lack of living links between different orders and such. Evolution has no substantiation, therefore if you can't admit God wasn't even involved, then you are full of gaps.
Either I need my own theory, or I can just admit to not knowing everything. If my answer to all difficult questions jumps straight to "God did it", then I haven't really answered the question in the first place.
The religious people pretend not to be arrogant, but you're the ones who are all "we know everything, god did it! :)".
You need a god to cover the gaps in your knowledge. I need nothing to cover mine.
How immature. Skirt out of an argument by saying that I act like I know everything. When exactly did I say I did? I never did. I was only saying that evolution DOES NOT WORK in the 21st century. You need nothing to cover your theory of nothing? I guess your right? Go ahead and believe nothing ever existed, that's the only way to escape from an opinion, you simple mooncalf.
Saying that a god did everything is better than saying "some things are, I don't know how they got there"? I dont see improvement in any way. You claim to know, I dont. See the difference there?
I'd also like to point out that it's not about opinions, it's about truth. I don't escape from an opinion, it's not some kind of flamewar, even though you're acting like it was.
If not accepting "god did everything we dont understand" as an answer makes me simple then... well you're simply a moron.
Again, when did I say I knew everything? You misquote everything I say and act like I'm a flagrant flamer, and then say I'm the moron. You put words into my mouth without taking into consideration a perfectly rational idea. Please quote me next time I say something you wish to respond to.
Saying that you don't know all the answers isn't bad at all, but what is bad is refusing to consider any answers that someone else wishes to provide.

This is easily placed under John Locke's "clean slate" psychology ideology. That all people are born without knowledge of the world and that their socilization makes them into who they are and what they believe.
Anywho, the answer to this guys question is easy. People didn't understand their own existance and wanted and needed something to believe in, so they made their own existance up threw storys... Possibly to entertain at first, but were then converted into "religion"
don't get me wrong, iam not close to the idea that we came from God, actually i really want that to be the truth, its just that its to easy to say it, but not to back it up.. the kids that believe in santa claus have the exact same proof that we have to believe in God.. NONE. i know, have faith.. but faith isn't enough, faith isn't curing cancer or ending wars.. i really hope that some day christians, catholics, etc, will find the real proof of God.. i really do. (part 3)
they will look for proof of where we come from.. see, if you know about the history of regilion you surely know that all started because of a thunder.. people couldn't explain it so they said that some superior being was presenting to them and they start to adore it.. that is the easy answer.. we came from God, but some of the people doesn't settle for this. its really easy to just sit and say that we came from God instead of lookin real proof for our origin (part 2)
Every man DOES at some time or another, question the meaning of his own existence and wonder if there is a God. The only reason some one might not pursue it is bcs atheism shuts it down.
You're little sister WILL question her purpose and her destiny, and there is no way God will stay out of the conversation.
no they don't.. if people were NEVER told the existance of Jesus and God they will eventually question where they come from, i agree with you.. but not everyone will wonder if there is a God.. some people, some of the lazy people, will state that they come from a being superior to us , i agree with you, they will start to wonder about God.. but some other people will not think about this, they will look for answers, not making them up, they will look for a rational meaning of existence
I dont think we are born atheist. Atheists deny God knowingly, meaning that they believe that there is no God. I think the term ur looking for is AGNOSTIC which means- neither affirms or denies God (doesnt know, wasnt told).
The idea behind the internet does exist in nature, the internet is for communication, so is speech. Speech exists in nature. Other than that, I totally agree with you.
No, I'm asking you to say something new... something that actually proves something. Not just saying "milm... i made that up, just like you made up God. See? Relgion is fake" I mean, come one man. Really.
I did do a nice job of it. I summed up the first minute of your vid, and I was right on. The rest was just incessant fluff. Ramblings of nominal importance and with little backup talking about why you --THINK-- people are only aware of God because he is taught. You are stating opinions not facts, as most atheists do right after they accuse Christians of the same thing.
Be leaving in a higher power power is like a child be leaving in Santa and Atheist are the older kids that Know "Santa" is not real. Thinking the bible is real is like reading harry potter and thinking its real. grow up!
Its a just a example for how younger kids IE being the Christan's and the older kids IE being Atheist. And I say reading the bible is like reading harry potter for the simple reason it has about as much fact in it as harry potter dose.
But honestly, with the chi thing, yeah, I can do that, and it helps me in physical excersize. I know you don't believe me, but try it. Go look up some shitty new age energy channeling hippy thing, that should teach you how do it, if they do it properly, it's quite easy.
Only good thing in the entire new age bullshit movement.
Or a hypothesis based on observation of facts, not only things like aurorae and lighning, but also things like a small energy that I can control and channel within my own body (i.e. chi)? Also possible. Either way, religion is both a force of negative and positive, and atheists should not be so quick to condemn it based on fundamentalist idiots.
>The Sun is much more worthy of worship than something I can't see.<
Exactly. That's what the ancients did before gods became anthropomorphised. Then humans got it into their heads that we go somewhere after we die. Why? A form of mind control? Possible. A way to cheat death? Possible.
The Sun is much more worthy of worship than something I can't see. George Carlin can help you too! Great Video! but a little fast for the reading Keep it going
Firstly, I must apologise as I have been quite rude and yes, immature in my responses, and you hard work and effort deserve more respect than I have given. This is by no means a concession, it is rather an acknowledgement that there is no use in arguing with ignorance. I am sorry that I am not able to express myself to your standards.
Hey lukesherilee, God is just the same. God is not a "new" idea, it's just a new arrangement of the ideas of a man in the sky, and certain attributes such as justice, righteousness, and so on. In any case, how do you know that "God" is the God of the Bible?
Hi BibleBreaker: The concept of God has been around much longer than most organised societies, and it is interresting to note that all ancient civilisations have a belief system involving at least 1 deity. Yes, I do believe in the Bible, and I do believe in one God - but I will not try and tell you that it is what you should believe. In the end, everyone's 'reality' comes down to SOMEONE'S belief. I'm not losing out by believing what I do.
Your "new ideas" presented here completely support and prove what Mr VineRhyme has just said in his video. Nothing that you have just spouted is a 'new' idea that is not based on something or some idea that is already in existence. And the internet is based on written, visual and audio communcation - again which has been around for a long time and is not a new idea. When you grow a brain, let me know.
You may want to watch the other videos, they also explain how nothing in the bible even the idea of god is a 'new' idea. Way to be mature though. E for effort.
The bible says that the earth is flat and revolves around the sun. now you say that god exists and that he wrote the bible. That would mean that god is too stupid to know that he created the earth to revolve around the sun. Therefore the bible is fake, and god is fake. it's simple as that.
I have never read anywhere in the bible where it says the earth is round or flat, but it isn't important. There are many things that God chose not reveal to us
Atheism in reality does not exist, because it is based on proof that there is no God, when that proof doesn't exist. Agnosticism exists, yes, but not Atheism. Christianity does not have any actualy proof there is God, which is why it is based on faith, just as Agnosticism is based on faith that there is no God. Atheism is not a true belief.
Proverbs 6:16-19 tells us, "There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers."
The New Testament clarifies that God gave those commandments to show men their need of salvation and were never intended to be a means of salvation (Romans 3:19).
If you had read a little further you would see how severe the beating was allowed to be. Exodus 21:26-27(ESV)26"When a man strikes the eye of his slave, male or female, and destroys it, he shall let the slave go free because of his eye. 27If he knocks out the tooth of his slave, male or female, he shall let the slave go free because of his tooth.
If Death was the result of the man beating the slave he was to be put to death. If the slave sustained permenant injury of any kind the slave owner would again be in the wrong and the slave was no longer required to stay with the master. Punishment was allowed. Abuse was not. It was slave rights at a time when there were none.
The lesson here is, it's easy to make anything look bad if you take it out of context. I, as a christian, should know this because that is how the straw men are made that are used against my faith. It's very, very common as you so accurately displayed.
Is this your idea of a very accurate view? And I quote, "I think he says its ok to beat the shit out of slaves as long as you dont kill them." I'd say that's a straw man... what do you think.
If I truly presented a special pleading argument for God then that would assume that his unique character as creator of all things past and present is not is a relevant exception to the rule thereby not making it a special pleading argument but rather a validated argument. The only way it would be a special pleading argument is if we as humans could some how elevate our selves to god-like status and power in practice, not just in our own minds.
The issue I have with most who attack my faith are the straw man arguments that are brought to the table. Extrememly persuasive but extremely inaccurate. It's like the information that is presented as fact has been passed from person to person without verification.
That's why it's important to discuss single items instead of multiples at a time. That way we can be more in depth. It's a common form of interaction that is more fruitful than firing questions from 40 different viewpoints. So what do you think?
The "encouragement" of slavey you speak of is actually a guideline for how to treat slaves. Slavery was a common thing in old testament times as was the abuse of slaves. The rules that were given were given for the benefit of slaves. God was sort of like the very first Human Resources department and Osha rolled in one. He gave guidelines on how not to abuse slaves the slave owners.
The same laws that are given to adults are given to children but the rules to...for example cross the street are different for adults than for children based on their limitations.
This is a good example of man judging God based on laws that God gave man due to mans limitations in creation. The same rules we make for children are different than the ones we have for ourselves based on what we are capable of.
God, because he is God, being that he created all that is or ever will be gives him special privileges that no other being has the right to, like for example to take away that which he has given whether it be life food health or whatever. He has this right to take away because he also has the power to restore what he takes away unlike a murderer for example.
i just had a debate with a real fundamentalist. he basically said that the bible is real because it is god's word and god is real because the bible says so. because you know the bible exists their is no excuse to not believe it , or you will burn in hell. you can't trust rational thought because logic and reason are the path to destruction. period. end of discussion. you cannot disprove this since rational thought is wrong. believe me or burn in hell. have a nice day.

Religion gives people the right to believe they are better than everyone else and they can oppress those not following their faith, much like a cult.

Termination.

I'm sorry cotdail, I worded my question wrong.
Drgnfly12jj 2 years ago
I believe the reason atheist don't try to disprove Shintoism or Jainism or even Zoroastrianism is because these people aren't knocking on our door trying to sell us their faith. Plus, those religions are very minimal in the US.
xetlive 2 years ago
I have question. Why is that atheism finds credence for it's belief in disproving the Bible?
Drgnfly12jj 2 years ago
Because the Bible is supposed by Christians to be the foundation of Christianity.
And Bible bullshit = Christianity bullshit.
At least, that's what Christians should think.
Of course, only atheism regarding Christianity can derive credence from this.
Atheism regarding other religious beliefs, e.g., Vishnu, won't find any firepower by refuting the Bible.

What is perfect about the Earth... LIFE.
Earth is the only planet that has life on it. Earth was living in perfect harmony. everything worked together, but then we sinned and now its not perfect.

In other religions, Islam for example you must go and blow yourself up with a bunch of other nonbelievers to get to "paradise".
ClydeSeal 2 years ago
If you dont read it in context it will never make sense. You have to realize when it was written and who it was written to. Some of the things are literal and some are figurative.
ClydeSeal 2 years ago
God created the earth perfect. The we humans screwed it up. However, because God loves us, instead of condemning us all to Hell He sent his perfect son to die in our place. Now all we must do is accept, repent, and believe to be saved.
If I am wrong then I just die like everyone else, but if you are wrong and don't accept Jesus you burn in Hell forever.
ClydeSeal 2 years ago
Perhaps you should read that in context.
Your verses in Exodus are not about sex slaves. They are about the rules and rights of slaves.
And all of your verses about the "child abuse" are not about that. If you had read the whole chapter you would have found that the the death of the Isrealite children was one of the many things that would happen if they continued disobeying.

Do I belive in God? Yes
Do I belive in any form of organized religion? No
Do I belive Jesus Existed? Not sure, it's possible.
Do I belive he walked on water, raised the dead and so on? No
The problem in my oppinion is the fact that people are taking the Bible too seriously, both belivers and atheists alike. It was written to amaze and keep in order somewhat primitive people. Here's an example. Why do you think the muslims are not allowed to drink alcohol and eat pork?(Read on, it's didn't fitt)
Prka01 2 years ago
If you look at the area where Islam was founded and the average temperatures in that area you kinda start to get it. Because the most efficient way to explain to an ignorant primitive person that it's not a good idea to get wasted and stuffed with fat rich food, and then pass out in the sun is to tell him "Allah forbidds it". That is why the Bible, the Kur'an and so on were written in the way they were. To keep the ignorant morons in line. Only problem is, we are now inteligent and mostly...
Prka01 2 years ago
and mostly edjucated enough to understand certain things, but we still consider the "holy books" to be the root of all wisdom. Stop looking for the already served answers and start getting some answers on your own and you will be a lot better off.

Don't you religious people have something other than a book made a man to prove your point?
You have nothing else but a book. Nothing!
xetlive 2 years ago
Nothing else eh. You think that the only thing Christians have to prove their point is "a book". Why dont you open your eyes and look around you. Look at everything from the smallest microbes, to the stars in the sky. It all has a purpose. They were all uniquely created. Anybody can look around and realize that it didn't just explode into esistence by chance.
ClydeSeal 2 years ago
FIrst off ClydeSeal , I never said Christian so don't assume. I said Religion. As in All.
Why do things have to have a "purpose"?
I don't believe they do.
How do you keep people good? An imaginary God who you can't see... but the God listens to you and will reward you if you follow the "rules" that it told humans to write in a book.. (A book in which many things contradict themselves) ... and if your not obedient, then the "Loving" God will make you burn in hell forever.
Yea... Right.
xetlive 2 years ago
I am not sure which religion you are reffering to so I am going to make the defense for Christianity (which I don't really consider religion, but thats a different agrument).
Now let's say you are right there is no God, no pupose, etc. What would this world be like. CHAOS. People would do whatever they wanted murder, stealing, cheating, lying, and everything else considered wrong. Because there is no punishment for what they do. And if this God was imaginary nobody would fear Him. (continued)

ClydeSeal 2 years ago
So the World will go to CHAOS without a God. Look at all the wars that Religion has caused. You have a warped view imho. If there was a God then there would be no famine, death of innocent children, etc. And please don't give me the sorry excuse that "Gods Plan" does that. pffft. An invisible man with an invisible plan.
If the World would go to crapola without God then its the Religious who would make it that way. I do believe in Santa though. ;)
xetlive 2 years ago
You are right both times. Humans screw things up. That is why there is war and chaos. God is perfect he stops it before they fall into complete chaos. Now there are some things he doesn't stop like famine, car crashes, etc. I don't know why, but I am sure he has a reson.
Your last statement doesn't even make sense. You said "the World would go to crapola without God then its the Religious who would make it that way" If there was no God there would be no "Religious" to make the World crapola.
ClydeSeal 2 years ago
Probably didn't make sense... I tend to do that in my "need for sleep" stupor.
What I was trying to say is that WHY do people believe that God keeps the world good? Maybe he keeps the Religious people good but the rest of us would remain the same. Only people left to create chaos is the Religious. Most religious people believe that the non-believers create the chaos.
So if we do, how will chaos get any worse UNLESS you have the religious figured in?
Gee, thats a hard on for me to explain.
xetlive 2 years ago
There is no reason for God to stop famine, car crashes, etc... A true, loving God would NOT allow pain and suffering in the first place. As for the line "i'm sure he has a reason"... thats a cheap way out imho. That line can be used for anything that the religious can't explain thats bad... for good they say MIRACLE, that usually their answer. While I'm sure there might be something out there, I do not believe God intervenes in the lives of humans. If he did... the world would not be like it is
xetlive 2 years ago
How do you know THIS is not hell. More than half the world suffers everyday... and "thats God's plan" doesn't cut it.
Thx for the debate Clyde! Love it!
xetlive 2 years ago
Fine... Believe what you want.
I believe that I have a purpose and reason for being alive. I wake up every morning knowing that I make a difference.
What do you have? Why do you bother getting up? If there is no puprose what difference does any of this make?
Maybe I am naive, but I am happy in the knowledge that I have a reason, and I don't have to fear death or the unknown.
ClydeSeal 2 years ago
I was taking your comment as Religious purpose. Not literal. Of course I get up everyday looking forward to my kids and work and all the things people need to keep them from going crazy (such as me). Though I personally think those items are more "needs" that "purpose", imho Clyde.
I have no reason to fear death and i'm getting closer than I want to be... but I understand it happens to every living thing on earth and I believe we have the same ending. Hopefully... I'm wrong.
xetlive 2 years ago
My question is why, why bother getting up why bother going to work. It doesnt make any difference. The world will still go around following chance whether or not you do anything with the way you think.
And what do you mean death happens, "Hopefully... I'm wrong" you do realize that if your wrong you burn in Hell forever. I mean that sounds cruel but its the truth.
If I'm right then I go to heaven when I die, and if I'm wrong then I'm no better off than anyone else. So its a win win for me
ClydeSeal 2 years ago

11. The true church must teach that God and Jesus have bodies of flesh and bone
(Luke 23:36-39; Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews1:1-3)
We are all going to be resurrected and judged according to our works, thoughts, deeds.
Denial of God is denying the holy ghost. It will lead of you atheists to be hewn down and cast into the fire.
You people are so unprepared for the blindsiding you are about to experience.

all humans have a basic belief.
even a child born in the forest with one mother and no pre-detemend knowledge will believe in something that is of greater force then he is. doesnt matter what you want to call it. Some gave it a name, some made it a rock, others the wind etc.
and it is in our fundemental character to believe and hope.
but remember, it is most important to respect the idea's of another for it is all subjective. the mistake is in collectiveness.

"Everyone is born an atheist" IGNORANT STATEMENT! If everyone is born atheist, then where did the 'idea' of God come from?
Deetinator 3 years ago
Well common sense tells me after humans are old enough to develop such thoughts? What new-born do you know who's Christian? Or one who's Islamic? Oh that's right! None!
RuyGuy 3 years ago
Ok, so your purpose in the original statement was to portray the natural person as an atheist, where as now you say that can they choose God when they're old enough to know who he is. Deceptive. Or did I read you wrong. Please inform me of such fallacies in my logic.
Deetinator 3 years ago
They can also choose to believe in santa when they are old enough.
Where were you going with this?
wtftard 3 years ago
Ok, you just took what I was saying in a different direction, but if you want to go there, I will.
How's this: NO proof for Santa, MUCH proof for God. Example? Even if you believe in evolution, which I don't, there are so many holes in it, God had to be involved. Try watching that upcoming movie, "Expelled" by Ben Stein.
Deetinator 3 years ago
Much proof for god.. because there are holes in the theory of evolution?
News flash: It's not "God or evolution" or "God or big bang" its just plainly simply "God or not god".
Your god is a god of gaps
wtftard 3 years ago
Not god means evolution, unless you have your own theory. Evolution is only a theory because there's is no substantial proof, not to mention living fossils, lack of in between fossils, and lack of living links between different orders and such. Evolution has no substantiation, therefore if you can't admit God wasn't even involved, then you are full of gaps.
Deetinator 3 years ago
Either I need my own theory, or I can just admit to not knowing everything. If my answer to all difficult questions jumps straight to "God did it", then I haven't really answered the question in the first place.
The religious people pretend not to be arrogant, but you're the ones who are all "we know everything, god did it! :)".
You need a god to cover the gaps in your knowledge. I need nothing to cover mine.
Have fun.
wtftard 3 years ago
How immature. Skirt out of an argument by saying that I act like I know everything. When exactly did I say I did? I never did. I was only saying that evolution DOES NOT WORK in the 21st century. You need nothing to cover your theory of nothing? I guess your right? Go ahead and believe nothing ever existed, that's the only way to escape from an opinion, you simple mooncalf.
Deetinator 3 years ago
Saying that a god did everything is better than saying "some things are, I don't know how they got there"? I dont see improvement in any way. You claim to know, I dont. See the difference there?
I'd also like to point out that it's not about opinions, it's about truth. I don't escape from an opinion, it's not some kind of flamewar, even though you're acting like it was.
If not accepting "god did everything we dont understand" as an answer makes me simple then... well you're simply a moron.
wtftard 3 years ago

Saying that you don't know all the answers isn't bad at all, but what is bad is refusing to consider any answers that someone else wishes to provide.

This is easily placed under John Locke's "clean slate" psychology ideology. That all people are born without knowledge of the world and that their socilization makes them into who they are and what they believe.
Anywho, the answer to this guys question is easy. People didn't understand their own existance and wanted and needed something to believe in, so they made their own existance up threw storys... Possibly to entertain at first, but were then converted into "religion"

don't get me wrong, iam not close to the idea that we came from God, actually i really want that to be the truth, its just that its to easy to say it, but not to back it up.. the kids that believe in santa claus have the exact same proof that we have to believe in God.. they will look for proof of where we come from.. see, if you know about the history of regilion you surely know that all started because of a thunder.. people couldn't explain it so they said that some superior being was presenting to them and they start to adore it.. that is the easy answer.. we came from God, but some of the people doesn't settle for this. its really easy to just sit and say that we came from God instead of lookin real proof for our origin (part 2)

You might want to try looking at the original video for that.

Be leaving in a higher power power is like a child be leaving in Santa and Atheist are the older kids that Know "Santa" is not real. Thinking the bible is real is like reading harry potter and thinking its real. grow up!
Kelo60 4 years ago
would you please give me some valid reasons for dismissing the bible as "harry potter" and how Santa and God are related?
Thanks
scrubdub07 4 years ago
Its a just a example for how younger kids IE being the Christan's and the older kids IE being Atheist. And I say reading the bible is like reading harry potter for the simple reason it has about as much fact in it as harry potter dose.
Kelo60 4 years ago
Again, I ask for valid reasons for dismissing the bible as fictional. What evidence do you have that convinced you. I want to hear that. Thanks.

is that all you got? weak

SolAurum 4 years ago
Or a hypothesis based on observation of facts, not only things like aurorae and lighning, but also things like a small energy that I can control and channel within my own body (i.e. chi)? Also possible. Either way, religion is both a force of negative and positive, and atheists should not be so quick to condemn it based on fundamentalist idiots.

Lol. Loved the nonsensical words.
>The Sun is much more worthy of worship than something I can't see.<
Exactly. That's what the ancients did before gods became anthropomorphised. Then humans got it into their heads that we go somewhere after we die. Why? A form of mind control? Possible. A way to cheat death? Possible.

Loved it

The Sun is much more worthy of worship than something I can't see. George Carlin can help you too! Great Video! but a little fast for the reading Keep it going

Firstly, I must apologise as I have been quite rude and yes, immature in my responses, and you hard work and effort deserve more respect than I have given. This is by no means a concession, it is rather an acknowledgement that there is no use in arguing with ignorance. I am sorry that I am not able to express myself to your standards.
lukesherilee 4 years ago
Hey lukesherilee, God is just the same. God is not a "new" idea, it's just a new arrangement of the ideas of a man in the sky, and certain attributes such as justice, righteousness, and so on. In any case, how do you know that "God" is the God of the Bible?
BibleBreaker 4 years ago
Hi BibleBreaker: The concept of God has been around much longer than most organised societies, and it is interresting to note that all ancient civilisations have a belief system involving at least 1 deity. Yes, I do believe in the Bible, and I do believe in one God - but I will not try and tell you that it is what you should believe. In the end, everyone's 'reality' comes down to SOMEONE'S belief. I'm not losing out by believing what I do.
lukesherilee 4 years ago
Your "new ideas" presented here completely support and prove what Mr VineRhyme has just said in his video. Nothing that you have just spouted is a 'new' idea that is not based on something or some idea that is already in existence. And the internet is based on written, visual and audio communcation - again which has been around for a long time and is not a new idea. When you grow a brain, let me know.
lukesherilee 4 years ago
You may want to watch the other videos, they also explain how nothing in the bible even the idea of god is a 'new' idea. Way to be mature though. E for effort.

where and when in the bible did God create the dinosaurs and why did he make all the dinosaurs extinct? did adam and eve live among the dinosaurs?
doccorleone 4 years ago
The bible says that the earth is flat and revolves around the sun. now you say that god exists and that he wrote the bible. That would mean that god is too stupid to know that he created the earth to revolve around the sun. Therefore the bible is fake, and god is fake. it's simple as that.
AlikSmirnov 4 years ago
Kudos.
RuyGuy 4 years ago
Get your facts straight. The Bible actually says that the Earth is round. Then poof - there goes your argument.
lukesherilee 4 years ago
Wrong.
RuyGuy 4 years ago

Dontae86 4 years ago
The New Testament clarifies that God gave those commandments to show men their need of salvation and were never intended to be a means of salvation (Romans 3:19).
Dontae86 4 years ago
Old Testament. Jesus Christ came to establish a new covenant with the world. Read Matthew.

Wait.. are you answering the questions? Maybe you should present this in a different way.

who encourages that?

If you had read a little further you would see how severe the beating was allowed to be. Exodus 21:26-27(ESV)26"When a man strikes the eye of his slave, male or female, and destroys it, he shall let the slave go free because of his eye. 27If he knocks out the tooth of his slave, male or female, he shall let the slave go free because of his tooth.
grenadebreath 4 years ago
If Death was the result of the man beating the slave he was to be put to death. If the slave sustained permenant injury of any kind the slave owner would again be in the wrong and the slave was no longer required to stay with the master. Punishment was allowed. Abuse was not. It was slave rights at a time when there were none.
grenadebreath 4 years ago
The lesson here is, it's easy to make anything look bad if you take it out of context. I, as a christian, should know this because that is how the straw men are made that are used against my faith. It's very, very common as you so accurately displayed.
grenadebreath 4 years ago
Is this your idea of a very accurate view? And I quote, "I think he says its ok to beat the shit out of slaves as long as you dont kill them." I'd say that's a straw man... what do you think.
grenadebreath 4 years ago
If I truly presented a special pleading argument for God then that would assume that his unique character as creator of all things past and present is not is a relevant exception to the rule thereby not making it a special pleading argument but rather a validated argument. The only way it would be a special pleading argument is if we as humans could some how elevate our selves to god-like status and power in practice, not just in our own minds.
grenadebreath 4 years ago
The issue I have with most who attack my faith are the straw man arguments that are brought to the table. Extrememly persuasive but extremely inaccurate. It's like the information that is presented as fact has been passed from person to person without verification.
grenadebreath 4 years ago
That's why it's important to discuss single items instead of multiples at a time. That way we can be more in depth. It's a common form of interaction that is more fruitful than firing questions from 40 different viewpoints. So what do you think?
grenadebreath 4 years ago
Unless of course your not serious about discussing.
grenadebreath 4 years ago
The "encouragement" of slavey you speak of is actually a guideline for how to treat slaves. Slavery was a common thing in old testament times as was the abuse of slaves. The rules that were given were given for the benefit of slaves. God was sort of like the very first Human Resources department and Osha rolled in one. He gave guidelines on how not to abuse slaves the slave owners.
grenadebreath 4 years ago
The same laws that are given to adults are given to children but the rules to...for example cross the street are different for adults than for children based on their limitations.
grenadebreath 4 years ago
Let's deal with one issue at a time so as not to have the delay screw up the discussion. Agree?
grenadebreath 4 years ago
This is a good example of man judging God based on laws that God gave man due to mans limitations in creation. The same rules we make for children are different than the ones we have for ourselves based on what we are capable of.

God, because he is God, being that he created all that is or ever will be gives him special privileges that no other being has the right to, like for example to take away that which he has given whether it be life food health or whatever. He has this right to take away because he also has the power to restore what he takes away unlike a murderer for example.
