lmao @ Good Mission Man from Martin entering in at :19 Don't remember the Good Mission Man? The guy who delivered the bed that Gina's head got stuck in. Hahahaha. If that's not him, its his twin.
"BOOKMAN" IS 74. WONDERFUL to know he's still alive...LET'S WRITE HIM ! ...AND Michael (RALPH CARTER) here is 50. GOD BLESS HIM ! GREAT SINGER...AND WHAT A FINISH !!! I LOVE THEM ALL. Especially Mama Esther.
@38106chick I agree. i was just thinking about that the other day. And it's not like he tripped and tumbled. If that's all it took to mess him up maybe JJ did him a favor.
@bisexualbuffthug Ralph Carter was a professional singer before, during, and after his years on Good Times. He started as a professional broadway singer, then went solo. You should check out his albums. If you notice, on the earlier episodes of Good Times, during the cast credits it says "Ralph Carter (courtesy of Raisin)". "Raisin" or "A raisin in the sun" was the broadway play that held the rights to Carter as a singer/entertainer.
oh wow he is amazing i never saw this episode but wow ha i love watching good times i just wish i was born ealer cuz being 14 in the world today you dont see good tv shows like this and the cosby show and you dont hear good music like the jackson 5ive and others so thank you to every one who is putting up these vids thank you

wow i love this song my mom was my age when she saw this episode back n da dey and never saw it again cuz they wasnt heavy on re-runs back den so when she saw it today it touch her and me this song is the perfect wedding song! love u Michael Evans!
Stevie wonder's performances of this song are among the best of the 70s. Ralph Carter, aka, Michael Evans's rendition of this number, is bad enough to turn Paula Abdul into Simon Cowell. Dreck. This boy could not sing, period, and noone ought to have told him otherwise. And your admiration for Ralph Carter ain't exactly gonna make you a babe magnet, Dingnaske
This is a really hard song to sing - he does a really strong job. Nobody's Stevie, but for what - a 17year old - imagine him singing this on American Idol among some of that crap. He doesn't hit a bad notes in the whole, even when when he goes up top, he still has good control.
THis show got progressively worst after the 3rd season. No James, grown ass talented men living in a 3 bed room apt. lol. It's no wonder why John Amos left the show. Ester Rolle left too. Strong Black shows always go pop (get whitened up) after a while. This was one of the first examples. Once the strong dominant black male figure was killed off it turned wack! BtW: (B4 I forget)...Ralph Moore was sing'n his ass off...Lol
It's been over 30 years...and I STILL can't find anyone who can explain how Keith could take hits on the football field, yet break his leg tripping over someone as puny as JJ...
Also it never "set right" until Thelma got pregnant, Walona got the job as head buyer at the boutique, JJ became a serious "artiste" as he would say. And Michael went to college... MIRICLE!
Ralph Carter (Michael Evans) did a bang up job on this song. I just watched this episode this morning, I could not stop crying. I enjoyed (Florida's Home Coming when Ester Rolle returned after one year absence from Good Times) the episode when Michael ran and kissed his mother over and over again. I was wondering when Florida arrived at the door was that scene rehearsed with Ester Rolle because Ralph Carter reaction was that of a child that had not scene their mother in a year. I cried all day
This was the most anticipated epsiode.....lawd we were all in love with Micheal after this............thelma was so pretty and hit the jacl pot with a football player!!
This is my jam!!! I always cry when I watch this episode like I was seeing it for the first time! I just wish James would have been there...but I wouldn't change it for the world everytime I see J.J.'s slow, awkward swagger down the aisle, LMAO!!!!
I remember this, it's the reason I do like the song from seeing Michael sing it@ Thelma's wedding.I love listening too O'Bryan sing this, he sings it very well.
Good times had alot of guest people that were familiar with, among those who had guest starred on Good times are Jay Leno,TK Carson,Sheryl lee Ralph,Shirley Hemphill from whats happening,Debbie Morgan(Angie from All My Children)Debbie Allen, before she was famous as JJ,s drug addicted girlfriend Dianne.
Thanks I was looking for this for the longest!! I just found out yesterday that Gary Coleman was on like two episodes, playing a sassy ass black kid lol
wow...i almost lost it when Flo was seated by someone else, because james was gone. This wedding was one of the great moments in TV history...along with Whitley's break-up wedding scene and run to Dwayne on A Different World...also...I loved that for once JJ was dead serious on his sis special day...priceless!.....but will the main stream media TV Guide even rank any of these (our) moments in their "top 100 Best TV Moments of all Time"?....HELL NAH!
Flo would have been seated by someone else, like an usher, anyway. James would have walked Thelma down the isle. James wouldn't have let Thelma marry this guy anyway. He would have done more investigating and found out he was a drunk and she was marrying 4 money.
In Part 2 of this episode, Keith & Thelma argued in front of Florida. After Thelma ran into her room crying, Florida begged Keith not to leave. She consoled Thelma by telling her a "story" about the big fight that she & James had on their wedding day. Thelma finally laughed and said that Keith reminded her a lot of James. Florida told her to go out there and tell him. She then asked God to forgive her for, well, exagerrating on "some of the things that day."
I have heard that Ralph Carter (Michael) put out an album. Young and in Love was on it. Did he ever put out any more songs? Also, when Thelma came in, why didn't the congregation stand? I always thought they were supposed to do that when the bride made her entrance.
This is a total lie. He was just on TV w/yes the cast of Good Times. Then Janet walked on the stage and gave all them a hug including Michael. So, get your story right
