if you dont want the 7.25 radius with the tex mexs, go for the roadword player strat, it has 9.5 radius and texas specials and in olympic white a 2 tone sunburst.
Love that tone! I have tex mex pickups in my neck and middle positions, but how do I get my tone as warm and bouncy as yours? What were your settings?
after many years of swapping out pickups ultimately and thousands of dollars later I discovered .. that any normal pickup is fine.. its all in the fingers
@sd28sachems At what point does someone stop practicing before they post a video? If we never record ourselves, we'll never see our flaws and improve on them. I like looking back on these videos and seeing how far I've come…
@DJ0KNUF It does stay in tune quite well, yes. The S-5s give a good all around tone, I think. You could do equally well with a set of Texas Specials, or just leave it stock, though… This video shows the stock pickups.
@liscio I like the original pickups to! I see you have (had) much fenders! Do you recomend this one (price/quality) for an average guitarist? No i have a fake fender strat witch doenst stay in tune quite well (sry for spamming)
SRV is so difficult to get right, I've been playing Pride and Joy since college and I still can't get that shuffle down with his subtle hammer ons. After you hit that A, try straight to an Em, then quickly hammer the major down and you should get a little bit more shuffle feel. Youre apps are killer btw. Thank you.
Ah dude, thanks for playing some john Mayer with this strat. I'm perhaps gonna buy this guitar soon, but i need to hear how it is on music like blues and John Mayer. So thanks for making it a lot easier for me ; ) What is you opinion of the guitar?
The Tex Mex's aren't half bad sounding for stock mexi pickups. A lot better than some american offerings they have used in the past. I own a bunch of strats, some vintage, and I like my road worn as much as some of them. 7-8 years ago you would have paid major bucks for the Nitro finish, relicing, ( really good on the sunburst and white) and light weight. A great little guitar IMO.
@TheAKprogram It's Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer. Look for 'Slow Dancing Two Rock' to watch the video of this solo being played _properly_… ;)

Loosen up a bit, mate! You're playing the blues. Keep practicing, man! You're on the right track though.

Is this a USA or Mexican FENDER ? (congratulations great tone!)
kalilmv 6 months ago
@kalilmv Road Worn strats are Mexican-made. Personally I feel it plays better than the US-made strat I sold a while ago to fund its purchase…

@liscio ahh i see! Thanks a lot!
How avout the guitar, i think of getting one to. Are you still satisfied with it?
DJ0KNUF 10 months ago
@DJ0KNUF Yeah, it's great. I still play it quite often (though I keep it tuned to Eb, it's strung with 11s, and I have the Klein S-5 pickups in it.)
liscio 10 months ago
@liscio Thanks! Does it stay in tune well? Klein S-5 kives it a nice jazz sound right?
