  • I have a 2000 v6 also with 40 series flows. But its not loud enough for me. Does longtube headers and shorty mid pipe make a big difference?

  • i'm new to this whole mustang mods thing since i have only had my mustang 3 days. doing a lot of research but a few questions come to mind. An H-pipe is considered a mid pipe right!? so if i got LT headers and and hpipe that would fit right up to the mufflers right!?

  • The motor is stock, with basic bolt-ons. CAI, exhaust is listed, pullies, and ignition. Thats pretty much it under the hood.

  • depends on where you live and what your emissions are. I live where we don't have emissions or visual inspections, so I can get away with it.

  • Beautiful job maintaining the Mustang. You see this car and come to love that V6 sound out the tailpipes. Its a cool car, i can appreciate it. Post more videos with info, parts, sizes, ect.. Its a goal. Make yours perform like this one. I like it alot.

  • Thanks Rob, its starting to show its age with 190k on the chassis but i still try to keep it up the best that i can. Its probably not going to get many more parts, just maintenance that is typical with this many miles. The trans needs a new 5th syncro, and it needs a new seal at the oil filter adapter on the block, and some minor paint work.

  • @buddyantunez1 I posted my V6 with FM 40's and now FM 10 Series mufflers. I am maintaining the car with 200k+ miles on it. Same type things- One by one, replacing what is needed. Take a listen & tell me what you think. I have my stock cats so its a different tone than yours- Good Luck!

  • @buddyantunez1 i beat(close) a 2011 v6 in my gt with just exhaust. so again, untill you experience it, dont talk shit. and yes, im 14 but i somehow have 2 mustang GT, SHO and 2 daily driver, a house, and my own business. what does it matter if your exhaust setup is better than mine or not? even if, i doubt it. bbk shorties, bbk o/r X, hollow cats, flowmaster super 44's with stock tips for the clean look. bent the pipe for over the axle myself for less restriction and an easier 1 piece install.

  • @randumbuller Ah, a V6 basher, how original. Ok here we go:

    1) No New Edge GT with a slushbox is going to pull on any '11 V6. You've got a mid to high 14 second car at BEST, and you've either got a slushie for your brain, or you haven't test driven the new '11s. I'll guess a little of the former and latter both.

    2) 67% of Mustangs sold are V6s. And every '99 and up V6 is a respectable performer that could outperform the Camaro/Firebird equivalent.

    4) I've seen V6 'stangs with 550 horsepower at the WHEELS on a supercharged setup, and 800 at the wheels with a turbo kit. But who am I kidding, your 260 hp V8 bad ass GT is still much quicker.

  • ok i have a question..anybody can answer.. i have a 2001 mustang v6.. and i got magnaflow dual exhaust on it.. i still have the stock cat-backs on it.. if i buy LT headers will that make it any louder?? i just dont want to spend the $600 for the computer chip for the cat backs..lol.. let me kno anybody..Thank you!

  • @fdjgklh Yes, LTs will make it louder; actually getting rid of the cats will really make it louder. But having MAC LTs along with the off road (no cats) H pipe is a good setup.

  • nice mustang man best sounding 6 ive heard...question tho i got the same set up mostly flowmaster force 2's mac or h pipe n mac lt headers...my shop said the h pipe wont hook up to the headers and i need to have 2 o2 sensors on the headers and theres only 1? and the h pipe wont hook up to the flowmasters bc the exhaust come into a y...so they only installed my flowmasters but i want everything hooked up lol...did any of that come into play wit urs?..any info on all that would help alot..thanks

  • thanks man. the H-pipe is made for the headers. its also made my MAC and works just fine with the LT's. and there are two forward o2 bung's on the MAC headers, and two on the H-pipe, but my rear o2's are turned off in my tune. If you purchase the LT's, also get the H-pipe so it will all work correctly.

  • did u buy a gt cat back with the flow 40's or have a shop fabricate the rest of the pipe.. other vids with same setup sounds different.. this one sounds (sic) lol crazy

  • nope, after the H-pipe thats made to go with the LT's, i ordered Mustang tailpipes that fit the body style, and went to a local speed shop to get the mufflers. All the shop had to do was get the exhaust pipes from the midpipe to the mufflers, everything else was a simple weld in pace once set.

  • you can get them anywhere, but i think i got mine from Summitt and its less than $150 shipped if i remember right.

  • im thinking about getting the slp loudmouth 2 exhaust. is that best for making it sound like the stock gt?

  • nothing you do will make it sound just like a V8, but there are some setups that are better than others in sound. search for videos of exhaust clips and see exactly what everyone is running and what you think sounds best and go with it. My setup is a bit on the expensive side though.

  • you need a mid-pipe made for the long tubes your going with, MAC does a catted and non-catted midpipe to match their LT's. it's what I went with. Or an exhaust shop can make one, but that tends to be a bit expensive.

  • thanks for the comments guys. i still havent uploaded a new video but ill get on it. To answer questions, MS does't have emissions, but MIL eliminators or a tune can help you pass emissions. Certain states make you jump through hoops to be legal, but its possible in most.

Did you notice any major change in low end torque and high end power with the long tubes and losing the cats on the H pipe setup?

  • I hear ya......I mean of course I would rather have a GT than a V6. I'd also rather have that 1600 hp modified Turbo Ford GT that I've seen on here, but both of them are not financially feasible right now, and neither were available at the dealer......And I always tell the anti-V6 GT owners out there that "Yea my '01 isn't the fastest car out there, but guess what? Neither is yours" And by the time I'm done with mine, I'll be beating more GTs than I lose to.

  • lol its a terrible video and it was on a windy day. ill try to get a better one up soon. all the exhaust mods are in the description and the motor is stock. it has bolt-ons and a ZEX kit on it, thats pretty much it
