HDR Presentation in HQ - High Dynamic Range Photography

I don't know...I've just heard about HDR and it seems interesting so I'd like to keep an open mind and view a lot more pictures. That said, some of the pictures here are creepy. Are they supposed to be Impressionistic? It would be interesting to see HDR in black and white,

why do you overuse the HDR settings:P, otherwise they all look fantastic,
