These drills work. But you want to emphasise developing the ability to be aware of the snap and seeing the numbers you're about to drive your hit into at the same time.
Also, on that last drill, you don't want to have your players stand up like that and mess up their base. The low man always wins...Keep them low, and swim moves should be *overhand,* not *underhand,* as they're doing. So stay low and swim overhand, unless you wanna get clotheslined and check out the pretty clouds overhead.
@coachanderson37 the overhand swim move doesn't work well in high school+ levels of football. if you try the old school overhand swim your side is gonna get destroyed by the o-line men.
talk more shit idiot your supposed to see it out of ur peripherals dumb shit, how are you supposed to see what gap your hitting when your staring straight at the ball??
@godsentroyal your completly right how the hell is a 9 technique supposed to see a ball out of his peripheral with a helment on from 10 feet away...@jawz15 you really dont know what your talking about dogg
@bigmoneykilla as a defensive lineman you cant be looking down the line at the ball because that split second when the ball is snapped is too crucial. the offense knows the where the ball is going, so they have an advantage. you need to be able to react to the movement of the offensive lineman. when he moves, you move. if he moves too early, its a penalty, so you can trust his movement and wont lose the split second of when the ball is snapped.
@41admello offensive lineman will jerk there bodys because there hoping the dline is watching them and not the ball. Line judge is SUPPOSED to call the false start...but they dont.

D-Lineman shouldn't look at the ball, they should go off there key. Offensive Guard/Tackle if they move you move.
Calken54 5 months ago
To use the swin/rip move you must push with the off hand and creat separation. Or there going to have a bad RIB injury.

@mwmyers14 I agree with the swim move. Try that at upper levels of football and your gonna get some sore ribs. I say but and rip and undercut them.

@41admello No. you'll get a lineman make a VERY suttle move of the foot and the ref isnt gonna call false start on him. WATCH THE BALL.

@Stephthatackle idk what line judges you have played with, but the footage of their games should go under review.
