  • they look like polar bears

  • reminds me of my time in france...had so much fun with these dogs :)

  • We have a male and female from the same litter (of course fixed) who are just famous companions to each other. If you're thinking of getting one, consider having two. You won't be sorry and there will never be a dull moment. I also have loaded two videos on YouTube as well.

  • I love my Great Pyrenees puppy Glacier! :D

  • I want to punch the narrator in his tracea...I'm going to Dogs 101.

  • I have just about every full episode, from both seasons on itunes. Does anyone know when they will add this episode, and other ones?

  • my friend had 2 one was russel and other is Elvis Russel died drowning :(

  • #LOL

  • #CUTE

  • I still have one brother left(buster) and he is wonderful! but to my beloved "Gibson" Of course, I tried to relocate him to a new home but was dissuaded by the breeder .. He was very social, but had a very strong mind but after we had our first child. he was extremely turf needs! One day, he bit me just because I would bring in him from their huge yard / playground but we kept him for 6 months. before we took the decision to end his life .. o we think of him every day ...

  • @zvenamp Great, an idiot who got a big dog he couldn't handle, failed to invest in training, and as a result ended up murdering his own dog. Seriously, I wish there was a hell so that I could rest easy knowing you'll burn in it. By the way, great pyrs are fantastic with kids. Do everyone a favor and never own a dog again. A pity that you decided to breed.

  • I have a great pyr/border collie mix, His name is Leo and he's such a sweetie! He's high energy, but LOVES to sleep... I love him! He's only about 5 months, but he's getting big!

  • My Great Pyrenees Roxy loves playing in the dirt now I know where she gets it from!

  • my dogs bigger than they

  • That's the Disney Narrator!

  • I like the part where a pair of them were barking at a Golden Retriever like they were saying "That's right, keep walking."

  • Our boy is 3/4 GP and absolutely wonderful.

  • eat

  • "they can sever the spine of an animal in one bike" "YIKES!!" 0:56

  • YIKES! god i almost punched my computer when he said that...

  • We have a 2 month old boy Pyrenees his name is Edward he is so cute he likes biting things an jumping on people

  • I used to have one (lived to 12) I love these dogs.

  • umm... are they as bad as this guy is saying they are.

  • They are amazing dogs, who will guard their owners / territory to no end! When I was young my mom brought one of these giants home, he ran in the house after me cause I had and extra large tootise roll in hand, and ate it all... I was scared but my Bear wouldn't allow anyone near our house... They are amazing, and since then they are the only breed we will get.... Most lovable creatures on this earth!

  • I have a pyr rot mix and he is the best dog ever, calm, takes abuse from innocent two year olds, and drags up coyotes and bobcats too often. He scares people without violence and is also quite possibly the smartest dog I've ever owned.

  • we just got a Pyr ....its a mix....and its just a puppies...we got it from a vet and it had been thrown out of a car and ran over.....he is in good hands now

  • do they really drool that much?

  • @oOSaraliciousOo

they can... mine drools a bit whenever their is meat out...

  • I adore these dogs! They are so lovable not to mention fluffy.

We adopted our Pyr Jethro Gibbs about 7 months ago.

Great dog, very mellow, and full of love.

  • I have a Pyr and he's very smart. "Lack obidience" my ass.

  • And they can sever the spine of an animal in one bite.

    *happy music*

    Yyyyikes.

  • @TheSideflip Sorry for your loss :(

  • God I hate this narrator....

  • @kr4zykyle lmao

  • @kr4zykyle hahahaha.,,,yo también odio al narrador!

  • im so excited cause tommorow nihgt im gett ing 2 two year old great pyrenese my family is rescueng them cause they were abused by some evil person i had 2 before but they died :(

  • Best dogs ever! I have two of them. A 3 year old female (Angel) and a 7 month old male (Ratchet). Every time I take Angel to the pet store I pretty much get stopped by everyone in the store because she is so pretty and majestic looking; I don't mind though because it just gives this proud Pyre mom a chance to brag on her kids. :)

  • i have one

  • i love how active these are. lol ours stays in the house all day and loves cheese.

  • @Jurassicprince Lolololo! Yeah, I know. My Pyr would LOVE to just lay on her sofa all day if I'd let her :D She is extremely laid back. What a wonderful breed!!

  • My Pyrennes heard the barking in this video and now he won't shut up lol

  • Hardest bite is that of the Caucasian Mountain Dog, which is around 700. Seen the vid "dog attack styles"?? What they call a Mastiff there is indeed a small Tosa, already reaching 570 PSI.

A Saint Bernard can reach about 700 PSI, and Mastino and Bordeaux Dog reach 600+ PSI, but who cares??

  • @DolleHengst then why are you mentioning it dumb ass.

  • @rideredification

Because some people seem to care, and are at the same time talking huge bs about dog bite forces.

I thought i let these suckers know what dog breeds bite hardest.

I myself couldn't care less what bite force a dog has. I'm thinking about getting a Clumber Spaniel. My last dog passed away this year. It was a Bloodhound, or St Hubert Hound.

By the way, the info in my prev reply i got from the police dog squad in my town. They visit trainings and tests with all kinds of dogs.

  • BEST AND NICEST DOG EVER!!

  • @xXspencerXx1 i agree my great pyrenees is an amazing amazing dog

  • @xXspencerXx1 how affectionate are they and are they good for active families?

  • @caitlinborley great pyrenees=biggest babies ever it is so cute, they are very protective of other animals and even owners. they are so nice to kids and if you are busy they will sleep all day and always be near you. if you are going to get one make sure you have some land or just a big yard

  • @xXspencerXx1 I have lots of space and I will give them a daily walk. :)

  • I own one also.

  • the true pyrenees is a monster of a dog. Yes loving but I have been amonst a new pyrenees in a group that turned on him .. it was like watching lions fight. They can put the hurt on you .. one of these even bit off his owners finger when the owner tried to break them up. He didnt mean too .. but snap & NO finger!!!!

  • we have one of these now. my aunt has one also and it bred with a different dog, and her pups are HUGE!!! bigger then her even. they have great tempers and are great guard dogs. the kids love them

  • we had one of these when i was a kid. He died of epilepsia after about 4 or 5 years (we couldnt afford to pay for the treatment, of if we could my parents didnt do it so dont blame me...) :(. it was a long time ago (22 or 23 years) but i still miss him. Lotus was his name. he was such a good dog. Turned heads everywhere he went.

  • they look like puffedlabordor retrievers

  • I've wanted one of these so bad since my family found one lost, extremely tired, and hungry on New Year's. It was such a sweet a gentle hulk of a dog, it really left an impression on me even after we found it's owners. I don't think I'll be getting one though, as big dogs seem to have a short lifespan in general. I wouldn't be able to handle that. :(

  • kinda looks like a kurdish kangal.

  • i had a great pyr a year ago but we had to give him away because im have a military family and they gave us a house with a tiny backyard : (

  • I have had three Pyrs, all rescues. They are the sweetest gentlest dogs ever. The hair is a problem if u like to wear black, and the drool is sort of amazing (it makes a great glue.....my daughter drew a picture, I stuck some drool on the back..and that pic stayed on the wall for 6 years..and the only reason it came off was Hurricane Katrina flooded our house, lol!!! My Pyrs live with cats, little dogs, medium dogs...and love company, especially little kids.

  • 900 lbs per squer inch??? WHAT THE FUCK BITCH!! talking bullshit! -.- why people talking shit like this i cant imagine.

  • @tetisweed lol yeah. No dog can bite that hard. Lions can bite around 700psi.

  • This video is accurate if you are talking about pyrs who have been raised as livestock guardian dogs (LGD's). However, it is unfair to paint such a picture about the breed in general. I have owned and fostered many rescued pyrs, and they are extremely loveable and sweet. They are also trainable and very smart. Great around children and other animals. Their nickname is the Gentle Giant, for pete's sake!!! Please do not judge the breed by this video!!

  • I am a big fan of the Great Pyrenees, and admire there guarding ability, however, they do NOT have a 900lb bite,, that was NEVER PROVEN, and was a guesstimate by that lady who said it. Dog's who were actually tested had the following stat's- Mastiff at 556, Rottweiler at 328, German shepherd varied from 238-280, though a police German shepherd was said to have 450, a Pitbull had 235, and a Wolf had 409. I would guess the Great pyrenees would be around 350-450, wich is still amazing!!

  • these dogs are cute but if considering 1 have a backyard without any plants or flowers man these dogs can dig as the video shows in 1:55 and they dig huge pits so be careful but these are cute and cuddly and defend your house

  • I had a Great Pyrenees then i went to Oregon. When she came back she had bone cancer at age 6. 2 weeks later we put her down. But we got a new one now hes 5 and healthy :) i mess you Tess :'(

  • Gorgeous.

  • shaved samoyed with flat ears

  • @SuperFreshskater except 2-3 times the size and better guardians.

  • @SuperFreshskater only much bigger! lol the Pyres have really long hair it is just not as bushy as a Samoyed.

  • my great pyrenees also has knee cap issues. hers pop out of place as well and yes it requires surgery. but i wouldnt trade her for the world

  • @hserieshonduh Any dog can have this and it's a hereditary trait. Bad breeding is the cause of luxating patella. I spent over 5 grand to fix my Pomeranians knees. But I have a Leonberger and a Great Pyr that have no problems. They were from good breeders. The Pom, which we love came from a shitty person who I am glad we took her away from.

  • i saw one of these dogs yesterday at the vet...that's a BIG DOG

  • I looove my Great Pyr, Sunday♥ She's only 3 months, but she's so big and fluffy♥

  • f dis s

  • The barking in this video set my Pyrenees off barking and now he won't shut up, Great

  • @bivcyz00 The same thing happened to me!! LOL

  • I always thought that every time I saw a dog like that, that it was just a white golden retriever.

  • I have a 2 year old Pyrenees. Her knee caps keep popping out of place. Has anyone else experienced this problem with theirs? If so, did it require surgery to fix?

  • @gmwhite1182 Not wit my Pyr but with my Pomeranian. It cost on average$2500 to have one knee fixed. I spent over 5 grand. Not cheap but it makes a world of difference.

  • my pyr/mix is more a peace keeper than aggressior. However, my Pyr will walk straight up to a strange dog, or person, and let them know she is there and watching she has never hurt anyone, but has never had to. She loves, prtotects and accepts. Such a fantastic breed/

  • I'm thinking about this breed. I like what they're known for... but how long do they live? I'd hate to get something so great only to have it die like 7 years later. Should I just get a Kuvasz instead?

  • @n1b3luNg - My Pyr is 11. I believe the large dogs have a shorter life span, so a Kuvasz would be similar life span to a pyr. Enjoy either one. Beautiful and loyal breeds

  • @n1b3luNg Average is about 10.

  • 900 pounds really is it even true

  • I have a Great Pyrenees mixed with English Mastiff. She's HUGE. She just turned 1 yr and she's 125 lbs/\.

  • @bReNCYDE I have a pyr/white German shepard mix -120lbs. Such a fantastic dog. so gentile, yet will step in between me and my 'grand dog' when she thinks enough is enough. Love her. She is 11 and 'the time' is coming. Not looking forward to the end. Enjoy your PYR

  • my bastard neighbour has an old pyrenees as a guard dog and the poor dog is always really bored ans his fat owner never takes him out very often. once he kicked him a the face because the dog had knocked over a dustbin. how i hate this ugly bastard of an owner.

  • @zaktan415 What did u do? Does that stupid man want to give up his beautiful PYR? If so, maybe u could rescue it. i know i dont know all of the factss, but I sure hope you can do something for that beautiful dog. Go for it

  • @krstnlhjt i often thought abt calling the local peta aka the SPA. i live in france. i could also call the ALF. they would bust his ass.

  • I have a bernese mountain dog/great pyrenese mix. he is the best dog ever...

  • @Justinswaytotube - oh how beautiful You should post a picture if yuu can

  • I got both my Pyrs at the shelter..

    C:

does anyone else's make a "yodeling" noise? my female "yodels" when she's very excited...

maybe she's just a special case.

  • I used to have a Pyr mixed with a samoyed, truly awesome dog

  • I have two :)

One is 5 and the other 4 and they're honestly what can always make me smile, no matter what. Always doing whatever it takes to protect me.

    Best breed :)

  • I love my Pyrenees so much, they only negative thing about him is when he acts stubborn

  • im gonna try to find a shelter that has one of these and mixed with a husky or try to find the retriever that is mixed with the husky which should i get

  • @masterchiefjoe - wow , both would be so cute. The PYR/Huskie might be a digger and/or jumper. The PYR/ Retriever would be a spaz - silly dog. How could you go wrong with either? Good luck picking out your Pyur mix. Oh, Consider a Pyr/ white German Shepare mix.. One beautiful dog.

  • @krstnlhjt I have a Pyr/Kangal perfect mix! However, if you want the play all the time freindly dog, bad mix. She loves her pack but not friendly with strange people or animals. But we got her to protect the property not to like people.

  • there so cute ;)!I have one she big and puffy she dosn't bark that much but shes cute!

  • Comment removed

  • 900 bite pressure is this accurate

  • @zampakto93 No, probably more like 400 maybe more as they do have huge heads.

  • Well if these dogs are good for protection. Why not the Caucasian Ovcharkas Shepherds which they do the same as these dogs. One person who had a C.O' and it was only 11 months old. Someone claim that the C.O's are highly aggressive and hard to control, they had to put it down and it was still a puppy. Only the ones they don't know how to handle a breed such big size as these. All big shephards are good guardains.

  • @BubbLeeBuu C.O.'s are great dogs. Yes they can be aggressive but that's what they were bred for. I wouldn't trade my CO or Kangal/Pyr for anything. Very loyal and will do anything to protect what's theirs. They are controllable as you say, just know the breed before getting one. Not good for a first time dog owner.

  • lol i have a german sheperd-great pyrenees...

  • haha this is Chiyo-Chan's "dad" from Azumangah Daioh, if anybody ever watched the show....

    I adore this breed.

  • I love the look of the Pyrenees! Very beautiful.

  • One has to not wear black during shedding season. Oh wait, thats all year round. My son tried to Vacuum our Pyr. She liked it, but didnt get a lot of hair. lol

  • I have a Pyr/White german shepard mix. So cute. When she was a puppy and my son was too (ok, he was about 5), Diamond would play tug of war and pull him across the room. My son was Diamonds own personal chew toy. So fun to watch. So fun to own (the Pyr)

  • I must say, we rescued our pyr and he isn't a barker and he occasionally digs for a cool hole in the summer. Always in the same spot though. He's really quiet and very very friendly....he doesn't show any interest towards other dogs either.

    <3 my Buddy.

  • They are super nice but if something threatens their family they go ape shit. two drove of a bear a while back.

  • I have a Pyr, and unlike this video says-- she doesn't bark. She's as quiet as a mouse. As for the digging... that's pretty accurate. xD

  • 900 lbs jaws pressure I dont think she is right a shark is 600lbs crocodile are like 1000 lbs domestic dogs average 350lbs .

Does anyone knows the real number for the great pyrenees?

    just curious...

  • @thesemaconnection It Is 900lbs

  • @serwat1000 not true. I have a Kangal/ Pyr (bigger than a pure Pyr) Her bite was measured at 578lbs. That said, even a male wouldn't reach 900. My pure male Kangal reaches almost 700 and he is bigger than any Pyr.

  • @thesemaconnection no its accurate.. this isn't the only source that says that.. they are hecka strong

  • GO GREAT PYRS! forget yokies and "teacup" dogs BIG DOGS RULE!

  • @kittypr1nc3ss

    i mean yorkies...

  • I have an 11 year old Pyr. She is showing signs of aging, but she still rules the roost. Wouldnt have it any other way. Love my Diamond.

  • I used to have a great pyrenees but we had to put it to sleep, because he gave me a big scar on the side of my knee and made my brother go to the Emergency Room because of such a bad attack. Anyone know why this happened?

  • @HopliteAlex No idea. My two Pyrs are the most gentle dogs you'll find. The neighborhood kids love to play with them and climb all over them and they'll just lay there and let the kids do what they want.

  • @HopliteAlex

it might've had a disease like rabies or something. If it had the shot i'd say A. one of it's parent's were aggressive B. It just was that way or C. It was abused (this can only happen if such previous owners had abused the dog, Pet shops can abuse also but only some do)

  • @HopliteAlex - how sad. Will you ever own another PYR?

  • @krstnlhjt probably not

  • @HopliteAlex - Oh how sad. I understand how you would be hesitant, but from u have seen, the majority of Pyrs are not mean. Maybe some day u will look to rescue another Pyr. If not, You did give one Pyr a chance.

  • i love my 2 pyr's they are more easy to maintain than they make you think

  • they are so pretty...

  • I have a half black lab, half great pyrenees..see vids of him on my channel. He's a big boy!

  • I have a Great Pyrennes Matiff huge ass dog(: They are amazing.

  • she is a liar when she says there bite pressure is 900 pounds of pressure thats more than a lion and tiger put together a english mastiff bite is 543 pounds of pressure

  • 900PSI jaw pressure??? I don't think so. A Rottie has been measured @around 350PSI. Rotties have much more muscular jaws. That doesn't add up.

  • yeah there's no way. Someone is way off in their studies.

  • @neomuttley Jaw pressure is based on size of the skull, I believe. And Pyrs do seem to have a larger head than Rotties.

I'm unsure if 900psi is true though.

  • @SunShawnSean,

Of course, you're entitled to your opinion. Have you ever seen a Rottie in the flesh? A full grown one? They've massive jaw muscles. This dog looks taller, but w/more fur than meat about the jaws. She states a PSI of >900. Rotties average about 350PSI. Sorry, my basic understanding of physics precludes my buying that stat. I love dogs to love them, & play w/them. I guess some others here will know studies to refute this claim.

  • I grew up with this breed...BEST DOG FOR YOUNG CHILDREN!

  • wow that's alot of fur to groom

  • ps field or apartment mine have never cared as long as i was there and i was happy

  • alot of this is crap train a child when he is young and he shall not depart from it.

  • I have had 5 great pyrenees now (all AKC) and almost everything that they mentioned as a con could be stopped with proper training. If you stick a dog out in a field from the time it's a puppy it's going to act like this. You do NOT need to be on a farm to own a pyr. I have lived in apartments and subdivisions all my life and have never had a problem. The only thing that was accurate about this video is the barking.. but you can teach them not to do that as well.

  • Another thing that is strange about the video is the pyrs they used do not look purebred at all. Their coats are waaaay too thin. They also look very small. Another thing is if they are indoors they really don't drool that much. Only if you are feeding them food and even then it's not that much. If you are thinking about getting a pyr as a pet don't go by this video.. ask somebody who owns them as pets not people who own them and never do anything with them except for stick them in a field.

  • One more thing then I will step down of my soap box.. lol I currently have one pyr, a newfie and a saint bernard and I only go through a 50lb bag of dog food every 2-3 weeks. So the video stating that they eat a lot is also inaccurate. Do your research before you buy. :)

  • @xKrissyCosmetics Thank you for your posting!! I was going to post the very same arguments. I am a pyr owner and a foster for a pyr rescue group, and I have seen many pyrs. They are the Gentle Giants and are great house dogs, so sweet with children, cats, and other dogs!! This video may apply to LGD's (pyrs raised as livestock guardian dogs), but not to the breed as a whole. So unfair!!

  • im not saying ur wrong but thats because a single breed doesnt always stick to its exact standards. their personalities vary, but these videos are meant for the breed in general.

  • in Hong Kong a lot of GR breeders have mixed this dog with the GR in a bid to make the puppies look bigger and stronger.

(the "watering-down" of the GR line with a different yet similar-looking dog probably also helps avoiding "hip-displasure")

my 45kilo GR probably has some of this line in him.

  • I should also mention they should have a good sized, fenced yard. He loves to gaze across the field for hours at a time, watching for coyotes. We trained him to dig in one spot, and in the summer, we wet the hole down and turn the dirt over with a shovel. He likes it cause it keeps him cool. You have to watch him around other dominant males as this can trigger him to fight. Although it hasn't happened, I have had to intervene on a few occasions. We love him dearly. The pups are chic magnets.

  • We have had "koda" a male pyr who is 128 lbs and 33". He is a beautiful companion. We socialized him as a pupie as we have no sheep. He loves other dogs, cats, kids. His instincts are VERY strong in regards to predators. If he even smells coyote, bear or cougars he looses it. No teaching required in that regard. Although independent, he is relatively obedient and very affectionate. He comes in for a pat and then wants back outside, even when it's as cold as -35c. Excellent guardian dog.

  • Lack obedience??? Mine is very obedient, she listens very well and is super smart.

  • I had a pure pyr, he was a great house pet as well! People think they can't be good pets but they can. If you keep them with sheep from when they are puppies they will think that they are sheep. They are really funny as puppies as well.

  • They do make great pets if you have them around other animals, but ours was very sutbborn. However, he never received any formal training. He died at age 10. I miss Harry very much. He was the best dog ever. He did like to dig, and he loved to eat. He druled a lot, too. We still loved him, though.

  • nvm i meant 550 psi

  • great breed, but that owner is one dumb fuck no dog can bite 900 psi, the strongest dog bite is a kangals bite which is around 420 psi

  • @OceanPotato Not true! There was a Pyre that killed a bear! Research them if you must!

  • @OceanPotato Right, 900 psi is close to the bite pressure of a Hyena... which has the strongest bite of any dog as shown on National Geographic's Dr. Brady Barr's bite pressure tests. The woman does not know what she is talking about, and Animal Planet should not have aired her comment.

  • They did mention that Pyrenees' dig in dirt, but I've noticed ours will "dig" in the water bowl and THEN dig in the dirt, making one hell of a mess.

  • i soo want one!! i would pay 508682067801 to get one! luv them

  • @dany4dogs Google Great Pyrenees Rescue. There are many chapters across the nation. They are wonderful dogs and many make wonderful house pets and are very gentle!!! I am a foster for Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue Group.

  • they sooooo cute they kind of like samoyeds.

  • dam 900lbs

  • I want one of those dogs. They're so beautiful.

  • Oh what color was you Pyr/Nuffie mix. Must have been a beautiful mix. How big was you dog?

  • had a pyr newfie cross that dog was massive and a real cat killer......like no bark just charge, bite, and done. He was so gentle though. I miss my midas.

  • My Pyr is so gentile and will accept other dogs in her territory. However, my lab mix has to follow her rules with no questions asked. My Pyr will accept a human or an animal, but only if you follow her rules. LOVE my PYR.

  • Love my PRY - who cares about their bite pressure. Pyrs are so loving, caring and will teach other dogs in the house the 'rules' without any biting. Cant have enough Pyrs

  • Pyrs are so gentile, but get their message accrosed.

  • I have a pyr/white german shepard mix- the most beautiful dog I have ever owned. And the biggest dog too. Sheis the best ever. Stubborn, like the bread is, but so gentile and protective. LOVE HER

  • I have a Pyrenean Mountain Dog called Major. He's going to be 8 next year and like someone said earlier, he still acts and looks like a puppy! He's a tremendous guard dog and so so loving. We absolutely adore him!!

Big big love to Pyrenean Mountain Dogs EVEYWHERE!!! =D

  • Dude i had a golden great pyrenees mix named jackson. awesome dog, but he had to be put down b/c of cancer : (

  • I just rescued one of these 2 days ago! Trust me they do dig and jump fences! :)

  • @katiebeth2009 Only some pyrs do this. You probably rescued a pyr who was raised as a livestock guardian dog. Our rescue group requires all adopters to have a 6 ft fence or taller for this very reason. I have fostered 8 pyrs and haven't had any who wanted to jump. But they will wander away if given the chance! They think they are on patrol and just keep going, waiting for a fence to make them turn.

  • haha oh my gosh, someone who lived all the way down the street from me had one of these! it was always loose, and would just wander around for some reason, but it was really sweet(:

  • Great Pyrs rule

  • I,m afraid there are no coyotes in Europe. MAybe wolves or bears, but not coyotes. This breed come from Pyrinees and there ir another one called Pyrenean Mastiff that is a Spanish breed larger and wilder than this and used for same jobs.

  • i like the music in the beginning of this video

  • i got a half pyrenees half australian shepard and he is beautiful he has the size of the great pyranees but the color of the shepard he can round up livestock and protect it and he still acts like a puppy lol

  • I have a Great Pyrenees and he's 2 and he's AWESOME!!

  • My Great Pyr is 11 yrs. old and is just the best dog in the world!! He still acts like a puppy and he is the heart of our family.....

    These
