Where is John Frusciante, or even John Mayer? I honestly think they are much better guitarists than Carlos Santana. Not that Santana is all that bad, but there are some guitarists that I feel are much better, like the above two I mentioned or Jeff Beck.

Like I said, Santana isn't at all a bad guitarist. But I just don't think he is good enough to be considered a 'great.' If he is, John Frusciante, John Mayer, and especially Jeff Beck should also be on this list. Heck, maybe even Dave Matthews (an extremely underrated guitarist).

I think it is called marketing, you know, that thing big companies do, so they put clapton with a fresh star (note that I wrote star, not guitar god) to gain him some younger fans, so what? that says shit, and about frusciante, addmit it, you like the band, the fact that u like them or their succes has nothing to do with their abbilities, as I recall nirvana was hugely succesfull, and kurt was a shitty guitar player, also elvis, and the white stripes, and many other guitar players
