That means Michelle could actually be a soprano as she easily sang that C6 and so could easily sing the C6 that Beyonce sings in Destiny's Child's rendition of Emotions (you know the high head voice note towards the end)

I still think Beyonce is a dramatic Mezzo - just with a huge range - and Kelly is a soprano, but I'm still unsure about Michelle because I haven't heard enough head notes to really say for sure. BUT, she can belt up to a F#5 with ease in chest voice and her high belts are certainly brighter than Beyonce's, so she could definately be a soprano 'cause she hits a C6 (soprano C) in this video

Michelle might be a lyric soprano also (?). From what MY ear can hear, I think Kelly usually has the soprano; B, the alto; and Michelle the tenor.

@TJCollins21 actually, Michelle said in an interview a little after she joined destiny's child that she "sang alto in the group"...I'm pretty sure it goes like this: kelly- soprano, Michelle- alto, Beyonce- tenor. and it seems that Bey is capable of singing anywhere within a harmony, but her natural tone is definitely deeper and lends itself more towards power than the airy, softer vocal that kelly has. In fact, all of these ladies have beautiful range :)

@Xhaterlover after studying all of their songs... Michelle usually sings the tenor, beyonce and kelly switch between alto and sop....bey has been doing a lot more of the bey alto in the later years...she has a strong voice so if she sings sop she generally overpowers the blend

@Xhaterlover Yeah. I remember that interview and that's exactly what she said but within the group, she's sings the tenor part cuz like you said, her natural tone is deeper. B sings the alto part most of the time cuz like someone else in this thread mentioned, her soprano would overpower the blend. All 3 of them have serious range, though. As far as harmonies, they sing the part that creates the best blend. Their parts switch depending on the song.

@TJCollins21 you're definitely right, I've been paying more attention to their roles in the harmonies and I've heard beyonce sing sop a couple times and she does overpower the harmony a bit...however, I still think beyonce's voice is more suited to singing tenor just because she can go the lowest (c3 d3) of anyone in the group...actually, maybe its just cuz I really like her lower register :D

@Xhaterlover No, Michelle can sing just as low as Beyonce - hence why she normally sings tenor in the group. Michelle has also sang up to an Eb6 - as high as Beyonce has - a n d Michelle has exclaimed a G6 (yes that's a whistle note)
