I don't see a problem with Paul mixing influences between his Fireman and regular projects. There's no reason he can't make something great out of that. Both sides were created by the same artist, after all! It's like when people say a solo song of his sounds like a Beatles song, as if that's a bad thing. Paul was a Beatle, so if anybody has a right to sound like them, it's him!

Paul never makes the same album twice. He could call this The Fireman, McCartney 3, Dark Side Of The Sun, Planes Without Wings. I don't care I never let myself get caught waiting for Paul to do the same thing. This song reminds of a radio station in the 80's (WDVE) that had a late night show called for headphones only. It would play stuff like Dark Side Of The Moon. I think I need some headphones. Ed

Yeah. But my point was that Paul & Youth had already pretty firmly established that this was a side project for both of them, and that it was instrumental electronic music, ambient house basically. If they're going to release this under the name The Fireman, it's kind of a head-scratcher. Why not release it as a regular Paul McCartney project? The whole thing about the first two records was that Paul's name is nowhere to be found in the liner notes, and he maintained strict anonymity.

I can't find the exact quote at the moment, but earlier this year Paul was talking about playing the new stuff he had made with Youth for his friends, and they were telling him that it sounds like his next studio album. I have a feeling this will be released as the next Paul McCartney pop album, and not under the Fireman moniker.

Aha! That makes altogether more sense. I'm not a fan of what happenes when great musicians start diluting their output by mixing their sideprojects so that the dividing lines between them no longer pertain...it makes the overall creative push seem somehow, well, cloudier? This would be a splendid solo song, but as a Fireman song it's, well, a tad schizophrenic! It screams 'McCartney Personality', which previous Fireman material did not, or did in a more subtle and hidden way.

Like I said brettb3 it's all perception. If he made it with Youth to be a Fireman CD release it as such. But the cat has been out of the bag anyway and if he wants to make more money and not "offend" the "true diehard fireman fans" release it at as Paul. I once again don't care in the least. That way we won't have to here the semantics regarding the project. I know one thing if Paul meant this to be a Fireman project and does not release it as a Fireman project there will be no Fireman again. Ed

Weird. Doesn't sound like the other material by The Fireman at all, really...doesn't even seem like the same genre. Much as I hate to say, this is sounds not unlike cinematic world music pop for a Disney cartoon movie, whereas "Rushes" was organic trance, textured electronic in a post-Orb vein. With no vocals. ...Maybe they should've started a new side project and not filed this under "The Fireman"? I'll withhold final judgment until I hear the album. :)

HOLY COW!! I am KNOCKED OUT! This is FANTASTIC!! I LOVED "Rushes", but didn't care for the first album...I'm not big on "McCartney II" either, but this is more like a cross between the best parts of "McCartney II" & "Rushes". This is just so great that if the upcoming "Fireman" album is anywhere near this good, it'll be almost as good as getting another "regular" album...like the wonderful "Memory Almost Full" !!
