  • Love basses :)

  • @TheAngie321 Love tenors :) haha am one

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! :')

  • wow

    great job!

  • As a fellow low bass the rumble from the "foundation" makes this worth listening to all by itself. I've listened to this song probably dozens and dozens of times over the years and this is one of my favorite versions. Raw simplicity, crisp harmonies, and touching softness. beats the stuffing out of the many bombastic versions of this number that I've heard.

  • love the emotion

  • These guys are amazing!!! are they single?! any of them?!?!?!

  • I have heard many recordings that were "good" and I have heard recordings that were "great." What separates them? FEELING. I am director of my fraternity's choir at my college and I noticed that when we examine the words and really look at the text we sing at a whole other level. I feel as though all of you guys are really immersing yourselves in the song and really understanding what this song is saying...that's what makes this recording "great"

  • wow. what a great job they did of blending

  • God, I love harmonies...

  • This is one of my favorite songs EVAR! Y'all did great

  • my coach just got music for us and we started singing this today

the ♫Treblemakers♫ are so excited to learn it!

  • that was awsome

  • im singing this song now in my high school chorus and these guys are not only awesome but hot!

  • I did this my sophomore year of high school, and heard this song A LOT, by by far yall have done it the best. keep up the good work, you guys are amazing.

  • whats with the faggy hats?

  • There is a video of a Tumwater High School girls ensemble performing this song you might like to check out

  • I love this song. we are doing it as an a capella group for my school. 3 upper tenors, 3 lower tenors, 3 baritones, and 2 bass. you guys are sick, though. props to you.

  • this is beautiful! i have been singing this song for a few years now... and going on tour with my high school womens & mens acapella group in Italy... and performing in all the chapels... and hopefully singing this song! =D <3 this is a beautiful singing group... BTW! =]

  • OK. I've heard this song more times than I wish. And yes, it's an awesome song ...but man, I have to say this groups expressiveness is just phenomenal. Thanks for really communicating the text. Make me want to pull this out with one of my guys groups and do it again. Thank you. Bravo.

  • one of the most amazing songs ever.. wen done by a 30 person choir its so powerful you could cry(even if your one of the 30 singing it) in our choir there were 6 parts... bass baritone alto 1 alto 2 soprano 1 and soprano 2

  • wow.. :o

  • Makes me cry every time

  • Makes me cry every time

  • This version was amazing! Best of any out there. Thanks!

  • the hand movements are the director.. he keeps everyone together.

and we're doing this song for our choir too.. its actually sometimes a 5 or 6 part harmony. so sometimes theres only one person on a note.

  • This song is so great. It always brings tears to my eyes when i hear it, and sing it. plead the fifth did a great job at too :)

  • The guy on the right is directing. Is it his hands that you are asking about?

  • what I dont get is why the hand movements its kinda stupid but the voices are freaking amazing we are doing thi ssong for choir right now and we suck!

  • he's prolly directing them inconspicuously

  • tools. tools. tools. tools. not to mention shitty voices...

  • if they plead the fifth amendment, the right to remain silent, then why are they singing????

  • I'm sure it's supposed to be a play-on-words, albeit, an awkward one.

  • Idk . . . but aren't we blessed they are? ♥

    Magnificent voices, men.

  • what? but are not we blessed they are? then a heart... makes no sense, but sure whatever man

  • @Leogriffen

It is more than irony, it is a pun. A fifth in music is part of a chord. It is assumed by saying fifth that there is a root (first) and if you add a third, a chord is made. The music that they are sining is in four parts (TTBB), so throughout the song they construct chords; hints the use of the double entendre "fifth".

  • ok so you have the 5th, the third, and the first to get a chord. why are there nine people there then?

    your joke makes no sense...

  • Why nine? Have you never seen a choir? A chord can consist of more than three notes. Even if it couldn't, OBVIOUSLY more than one person can sing the same note. Music theory is very complex and I don't have time to try to explain it to you. In essence, your ignorance inhibits you to understand the pun. Your incessantly circular "then why" questions only help to illuminate that ignorance, and are as fruitless as a young child's question of, "Why is the sky blue?" Because it just is.

  • dude the joke sucks, and why are they joking? this looks like some guys singing about some serious shit. if anything your insulting them, and me, by discriminating these guys talent while they put it to good work. get a life, and stop wasting your time with this!

  • Ha ha, thank you for proving my point.

  • @Leogriffen

There is four part harmony in the song, they they have 2 people for each note, and maybe one last guy that really wanted to be in the group. :)

  • wow.

  • too much scooping in parts where you need laserpitch!

  • i think its beautiful but you have to have more gain at the chorus. you have to feel the song with all of your hearts. if your just worried about everything being perfect pitch wise etc. your not going to feel it with your souls. but amazing job (:

  • You'll often find that the best art is the least perfect. ^_^

    I agree.

  • Wow. Very true to the original. Nice.

Too bad the gain is not higher, had to crank all the way up to hear.

  • How many of you are Phi Mu Alpha?

  • Absolutely lovely.

  • i would say work on 3:13, its a bit weak compared to everything else, but no good job :) beautiful voices

  • 3:12 theres a bell that sounds its very suttle but a great way to push that part a little furthe

  • great job one small anoyance is in the begining of the son the Lead par was just a little to pronounced with the other parts

  • my chior did this back in high school we had like 130 ppl tho so it sounded a lot more muddy than the mix you have great job guys.

  • Very nice.

    I love it

  • As a Bassist who just performed this song for my school, this song sounds great. Great Bass Resonance. Awesome Job guys

  • Beautyfull, I heard the the pain of the war

  • Can definitely tell y'all are from Carolina! Sounded good though!

  • This is pleasantly close to the original. Very nice

  • out of all the recordings ive seen and heard of this song i can easily say this this is my fave. you got some down to earth lookin guys who sing a not very easy piece and in my oppinion nail it. Great job guys you have my respect.

  • this is amazing and i compliment every one of these men. This song has got me through some tough times.

  • It was a little too boy band to me, but obviously a very nice job. It was a little pitchy at the end. And yeah the second tenors should really go up the octive it really adds something special to the song. But over-all, very nice job.

  • sorry i meant 2:13

  • very nice performance but did you take some parts out?

\at 3:13 the high tenor was really soft and i almost missed that harmony

and at the first Woh i didnt hear the barritone because they are supposed to go up...

and you took out the pause at the last jesus and that is soooo awesome

but other than that most definitely the best performance ive seen very nice bass at the end and THANK YOU for doing it at the correct tempo i hate it when people do it to fast

it ruins the song but very gj!

  • overall great performance you sound awesome i have to say though i agree slower tempo, dress, and more bass 1 cuz i couldnt hear them at some spots and bass 2 was a bit overpowering just a little though but ya you guys are awesome great job

  • Griffenmforever is true, the dressing usually is your lasting impression, this was a really good performance, and the basses sounded good. Tenors didn't get too loud, really good job!

  • Very Well Done. I did this in my Mens group. Love this song. Always brings tears. This is probably one of the best versions ive watched on you tube yet. Great job guys.

  • I gotta say it sounded great, I really liked it. I sang this piece in a men's octet this year and last, they sounded very good.

however it was a little bit too "poppy" if you know what i mean? Otherwise it was pretty good. Flat in a few spots though.

  • haha my girls chorus sang that last year.

  • Best version i have seen on youtube. Thank God that you took it slow it just isn't the same if you take it faster. i didn't expect this from the way you were dressed. But you were amazing.

  • Have you seen On Demands performance?

  • Love it, and love the song!!!

  • Yes, but i still like this performance better, but i have found a couple of versions that were even better than this.

  • This is my favorite choral song.. thanks for doing it justice. This is the best recording I've found on the internet. It's still not the same as live, but this is really good. Thank you

  • thank you for understanding that this song is much better at a slower tempo

  • hello everyone that is viewing from MLC.

  • hell yeah bass 2's rock it

  • Fantastic job, I did this in a small group last year(BassII) and loved it!. Good to hear it again.

  • by the way go bass 2's!

  • my choir is singing this song also. It is such a good song. I think you guys did awesome and keep it up.

  • I thought you guys did a great job! I loved it.

  • slovenian

  • Nice approach to the song. Needs a little more dynamic contrast, "Crying Jesus..." could use more strength, needs to be a little louder. Don't push it, but definitely change the dynamics a little more. At "woah" you did really good at dynamic contrast, just add it a little more throughout the song..

Other than that, really nice balance between voices. Keep it up.

  • At 3:55, what language are they speaking?

  • Croatian

  • Dali čǔje te sve dječje molitve?

(Can you hear the prayer of the children)

  • wow....that's so hot.... amazing....

  • rock on Tenor 2

  • Absolutely loved the blend and even the dynamics were pretty good. I would concentrate on keeping your hands still. it's a little distracting. Other than that, no complaints. Good job!

  • I think he was directing....

  • my opion of this song is that it should not be so piano....wen its too soft, it looses its affect...thats just my opinion, but it was good

  • Great blend - the main thing I could say is make sure the pitch stays consistent and to work a little bit on your diction - it's a bit squished in spots. Great work, and very moving performance!!

  • This is so amazing. The key at the end isn't the same as in the beginning, but that usually happens with a cappella, and who am I to judge? AND your bass 2 is absolutely delicious. I know some guys who I went to HS with who are now at wake forest who would die to sing this song. Too bad I heard a rumor that this group broke up... :(

  • Good sound guys. It's a beautiful song, but I wonder if the lyrics are compatible with the people in the industry today. But all the same, stay the course. You're on the right one.

  • I had to sing this song at a friends funeral, and i think you guys did a great job, its soo hard to sing beacuse if one person is wrong it can affect the rest of the group. good job!!

  • to Allah we shall Return.

the True God that never dies.

know your god Ilah before you lose here and the herefater.

    peace.

  • that's a really nice sound

  • Wow. That was awesome!

  • god they are so GOOD

  • Great job with this song, it's one of my favorites, you guys make me want to go to school at Wake Forest University!

  • i love this song. this is one of the best recordings of this song i can find on youtube. you guys sound great. awesome job

  • listen to winona state sing it...they do better i think...but my high school has a double quartet that does so much better!!! but yea...winona state is better and once i can get our guys on then u can hear perfection
