@86el what are you talking about? You cant attend a seminar and be Worshipful Master. To become a Worshipful Master you have to first be a Master Mason and then get elected to the office of Worshipful Master which usually takes years. The Craft has not been discredited in the U.S. in the slightest manner and any person who claims to be a rugular Mason and does not reconize his brother even though our Grand Lodges reconize each other is commiting a Masonic offense.

@WaCCo80 UGLE? That is only a very small part of masons worldwide. Last time I checked, I was told very clearly that should I join no communication or visitation would be allowed with most of the European Orders, since they do not follow the UGLE, or its rules. I asked, because I travel a lot in other countries. Each Grand Lodge has its own rules, which I know contradict to the point that I would be recognized as regular in one state, but another would bar me. That is what I meant earlier.
@sarissaki if you join regular Freemasonry you would be recognized and able to attend lodge in every U.S. state and almost every country in the world. Being a man who travels alot it would be really neat to visit so many lodges. If you join you can get a book from your Grand Lodge which will have all the lodges in the world that is recognized by your Grand Lodge it has tens of thousands of lodges in it.

But being a man without my wife at my side, just because she is a woman, is not appealing either. So I thought to join a lodge here and have my wife go to a european one, but then I cant visit her lodge nor she mine. So, since the mixed lodges seem to be in more places than the men only version, I am leaning towards a Continental Order, which is more traditional

If you choose to join co-Masonry that is understandable and I'm sure will provide alot of knowledge and fun. @sarissaki Also another great option would be to join regular Freemasonry and then after you get raised as a Master Mason join the Shrine and become a Shriner. In the Shrine the women (although not members)are alot more involved and even allowed into most meetings, that way you could be involved along with your wife. The work the Shriners do with their children hospitals is amazing. There is also the Eastern Star which both you and your wife could join after you are a Mason.
@sarissaki Not all French Lodges are irregular but many are it is because they are not recognized by the UGLE aka the Mother Lodge of all Grand Lodges, the reason they will not be recognized would be that they break rules neccessary to be a Mason such as admitting women or atheists. Shriners are regular Master Masons who joined the Shrine after being raised, it is regarded by many as the best part of Masonry with their family involvement, fun, and charity work, having 22 childrens hospitals.

There are masons all around the world from all sorts of belief systems, so they may use whatever holy book is important to them, as long as it represents their faith in the Supreme Being. Typically though, Lodge doesn't happen without the Holy Bible being present first. Im not a traditional christian mason, but I choose the bible as I respect it as a work of divine inspiration, the contents teaching all morality well.

The "secrets" are more...symbolic, and vague, and can't be "taught". You can only really receive the secrets of freemasonry upon having been Raised a Master, and then only upon much further study and work. The true secrets come via allegory, and everytime I discover a new one I have a great day. We really do make good men better.

There are masons all around the world from all sorts of belief systems, so they may use whatever holy book is important to them, as long as it represents their faith in the Supreme Being. Typically though, Lodge doesn't happen without the Holy Bible being present first. Im not a traditional christian mason, but I choose the bible as I respect it as a work of divine inspiration, the contents teaching all morality well.

There are guys in my lodge that I am at absolute loggerheads with, and others that are in full agreement with me about stuff. We're all different. @richcapo Technically, it IS a little "off", not exactly done right. And also, the degree rituals themselves are never really said to be "secret" specifically. The "secrets" are more...symbolic, and vague, and can't be "taught". You can only really receive the secrets of freemasonry upon having been Raised a Master, and then only upon much further study and work. The true secrets come via allegory, and everytime I discover a new one I have a great day. We really do make good men better.

These being the circumstances, I am proud of them for doing what they thought was right. I still see them as my brethren, and if I saw them on the street I would stop to commend them on their personal integrity in doing what they felt was necessary.
