Too bad today the people who knows La Rosalie tune is all dead but when they heard Terang Bulan record when they still alive in the 60's they confirmed that Terang Bulan is La Rosalie. Perak Sultan made it their own in 1900s, Terang bulan in 1920s & recorded by Mandehlssohn of Mamula Moon in 1947.

In 1901, without shame, that song was claimed as Perak State Anthem and presented during installation ceremony of King Edward VII. Because Sultan Perak was affraid to be said to have no national anthem.
In 1957, Tunku Abdul Rahman settled with Perak State Anthem as the National Anthem of the Federation.
The name was changed to Negaraku, the lyrics were changed. And when Malaysia was formed the song remains as the country's national anthem.

Negaraku was plagiarized from a famous song Mamula Moon during the late 19th century composed by a French songwriter, Pierre-Jean de Béranger (1780-1857).
It was prominent on the island of Mahé in Seychelles, and its popularity spread across Indonesia archipelago as song Terang Bulan.
Sultan of Perak, during his exile in Seychelles, was aware of the song's popularity.

Lagu2 pada tahun 50 puluhan selalu dimulai dengan preambul, sebelum lagu pokoknya(terang bulan) dinyanyikan. Hawaian musik adalah popular diAmbon Maluku Indonesia. Ayahku adalah pemain hawaian musik.
Waktu Malaya anthem disiarkan pertama kali waktu Malaya mendapat independent, saya heran mengapa melodynya sama dengan lagu "terang bulan"? Kami tanya apakah komposernya sudah dibayar atau mendapat izin darinya?

Intinya.
Sebuah lagu lokal yang disukai dan mudah dinyanyikan. tidak akan hilang melainkan akan selalu dinyanyikan oleh mereka dimana asal lagu itu. Masyarat setempat tidak akan lupa.
Jadi sebabnya Malaya > Malaysia mengabdoptasi melodi "Terang Bulan" adalah tidak adanya local artis yang bisa memberikan/mengkompos irama/melodi untuk lagu national anthem.
Indonesian anthem diciptakan oleh orang Indonesia sendiri.

Irama, melody lagu terang bulan adalah melody lagu dari barat atau nada2 kunci lagu2 classic barat/ rohani kristen. yang dapat diharmonies.
Sebaliknya diNegara2 Islam nada2nya ber dasarkan lagu ngajian Arab, yang tidak bisa diharmonised.
Lagu2 dari negara2 Islam apalagi negara2 timur tengah mempunyai nada2nya tidak bisa diharmonised dengan instrument2 music.
Lagu2 Malaysia sekarang dipengaruhi oleh lagu2 dari Indonesia dan Barat.
