I come from a backward conservative tourist town too.French canadian fishing village, and I'm as english as blood pudding. my family moved there for some reason when I was a baby. Hated it when I lived there, growing up wasn't easy, but when I visit family thats still there it's cool to see how much things there havn't really changed much in the last 20 years. it's like a time capsule.
FOREVER my favorite band ( besides RUSH) will love them forever....Saw them in concert In NB around 1992. They were the best canadian band of the early 90's. LUV U GUY'S XOX ... A TRUE FAN XOX Nadberti
I remember seeing these guys at the Cowichan Community Centre back in 87` or 88`....they seemed to roll through the island every few years. They were great!
Haha..im 37..saw them when i was in highschool...then several years later met them when they were staying in a hotel that i was working at....good times... :)
I'm about the same age as these guys, grew up in Kelowna and was in a band at about the same time they started out. These guys realized what it took to make it as a Kelowna band-Get Out! Unless you liked playing cover tunes and making nice with the tourists. They're a far better band than I would have recognized then. And, no, the locals didn't like the references to K-Town, afraid it might be bad for tourism perhaps. It would still seem like a backward town if you're a non-conformist.
the indy record store is gone, the cafe where the open mike croud hung out is closed. Nelson BC is all meth/ bikers and drunks . Its always sad to go back home.
Youtube, the last refuge for my 'Grapes of Wrath' fix. Wore out my cassette years ago, and can't find it on tape, vinyl, or CD......anywhere. Any ideas where I might get a copy?
I got mine on Ebay, but you'll have to go hunting the bargin basement CD places online for it and others. I still can't find this album myself, but got all the others.
This song will go down as the best music video featuring Kelowna ever! The lyrics to the song "Backwards Town" says it all .... if you want to make the big money ... you will have to leave K Town!
I first the acoustic version of this song while DJing at the University of Mississippi and fell in love with the band. ABSOLUTLY the most under-appreciated band of the 80's, perhaps ever. I wonder how many bands claim them as an influence?
Yes, a great band. My fav song is Peace of Mind. If you like these guys check out the first 3 albums by the Northern Pikes. Talk about underrated bands of the 80's...
Would anyone believe me if I told you I was related to Kevin Kane? 'Cause I am!

I grew up in this town (Kelowna BC) and they hit the nail on the head, but we can all relate to the lyrics no matter where we come from.

My old boss went to school with these guys and she said that lots of Kelowna townies were not so happy with this song. Anybody out there know more?

The pain when you still lived there
and I couldn't wait
for you to get away
my heart's being pulled around
in a backward town so far away
