This version wasn't that bad. Chuck Henry obviously didn't think he was that good. He was better than he thought he was. For years, I've been thinking to myself, "Hey Mr. Henry, NOW YOU should let us SEE IT on GSN."
I would go so far as to say Chuck had a promising future in game shows or at least mainstream television in general. But noooooooooo, it just wasn't who he was, says he...
That & when Wheel of Fortune left NBC after 14 years & moved to CBS with Bob Goen. And KNOU preserred Sally Jesse, so we wouldn't see Bob hosting until 1991 when they came home to NBC.
I really wish this show lasted longer than it did, and CBS didn't cancel it. i liked it. I also hope Chuck Henry changes someday changes his mind and allows GSN to air it. I thought he was a pretty good host and made very few mistakes. After all, were all human.
Actually, the losing horn used on NYSI '89 was, I believe, the last note from the one used on TPIR to this day. The winning/correct answer bell and incorrect answer/out of time buzzer are also the same sound effects used on TPIR to this day. The bell was a common sound effect for most CBS Goodson-Todman games shows (e.g., Gene Rayburn's second run of Match Game, Bob Eubanks' Card Sharks, Body Language, Child's Play, and a few others).
Oh never mind, I found it now. I thought that Chuck Henry did a great job! But only if he didn't look like he regretted the day he signed the contract. I mean Kevin O'Connell, the host of the short-lived "Go!" 1983-84 was also a news person and yet he wasn't embarassed about hosting a GS.

No way! But the jack narz era is now on GSN.
lilyitch 3 years ago
So what if Chuck Henry also did a game show? I mean, doesn't he want GSN to show everybody that there's more to life than reporting the news?
trev17ian 3 years ago
No way! Jack Narz's version was better.

Too bad KHOU passed on this version. I'd have to wrestle opposite NBC's Classic Concentration.

Speaking of CC, that was what killed NYSI in the ratings in 1989.

I think daytime "Wheel" actually replaced "Now You See It" on the CBS daytime schedule in 1989.
bluebear1985 3 years ago
Tes it did. But KHOU still preferred Sally Jesse instead.

I would like to see this on GSN and I've even e-mailed Chick Henry on the KTLA web-site to change his mind. What a cool set!
Bruneye123 4 years ago
His name is Chuck, not Chick.

Obviously a typo, if you didn't know.
baconhead2008 3 years ago
Well, you're not going to get a response, because Chuck works for KNBC, not KTLA.

Why'd you rate my recent comment -1? You know, "They could keep trying until time runs out."?
TVLubber 4 years ago
It was an accidently done by me, sorry. As a consolation I got rid of the -1.

Did an incorrect answer forfeited the player's chance at the jackpot?

They could keep trying until time runs out.

No. There's no penalty for a wrong answer.
TVLubber 4 years ago
$100 for a right answer.

I'd like to see that sound effect used on TPIR.

Can I see the Final Episode of Chuck Henry's NYSI please.

Ken had a lot of trouble in this round, he did manage to get 5 correct and $500.

I remember this show for the harsh Losing Horn that was cued whenever the Solo Game was lost...
MavsFan1982 4 years ago
That's the same losing horn used on Classic Concentration after a bonus round loss.

Wait, where's the Championship Round w/ the category-like question puzzles?

Kevin O'Connell was a great host, too. Go! was a very good show that should've lasted longer.
