This scene is just beautiful! I love Galadriel's exchange with Aragorn...I wish the arc about Aragorn being raised as Estel would have been included or at least hinted at in the trilogy. I see Galadriel's affection here being familial :)
@XEgalmothOfGondolinX Okay. That's what I thought it was. Been playing Lord of the Rings Online here was curious what kind of blades Galadriel would have parted with...I figured they had to be damn good.
So they are first age weapons then. Alright. Thank you :)
Actually in the novelization of Fellowship, Boromir did receive a gift from Galadriel. She gave Boromir a belt that represented to be worn by the strongest warrior. It's a shame they didn't show Boromir receiving that belt in the movie. For he was the mightiest warrior of Gondor. Even though the Ring nearly corrupted him, he fought and died a hero.
What a great scene. I always found the Lothlorien part so powerful and sad - the whole theme about the mortality of your beautiful memories and relationships that you store over your finite life, the sense of looking at indescribable beauty knowing that you will not see it again, and so on... they all speak to me in more ways than I can put into words.
@XEgalmothOfGondolinX Its the most manly and handsome comment/praise I have ever heard, the kind that a honourable knight might give to a fair maiden in a fairytale...love it
Galadriel's voice gives me the goosebumps, but in a good way. Her voice surfaces depth and emotion. Does anyone not feel the same way as I did when she said 'Our most beloved star'? That scene was simply beautiful to me. :)
@MuseicianX He was going to inbead the 3 strands of her hair into a beautiful crystal, to be an heirloom of his house, and as a token of good will between the Dwarves and the Elves.
@misu22b He asked for ONE strand of hair from her head, so that he'd have something to always look at to remind him of her. She gave him THREE strands instead ... hehehehe.
I have been watching LOTR for nearly a decade and only today have I seen this scene. Such a powerful scene that is just how I imagined it when reading the book. Amazing. Thanks for the upload.
pnkrk1039: sorry about that I pressed send instead of a letter anyways Boromir probably didn't get anything because everyone that got a gift lived till the end of all 3 movies? Well that's what I think
The first 2 shots give me such an intense feeling of peace... I don't know, but the water, the morning light, the people, the woods, the music, it's all so peaceful... Oh dear Ilúvatar, make it possible for those who love Middle-Earth to enter this world once...
i just saw that legolas is moving in the background when galadriel talks to aragorn... WOW... saw the movie million times and just NOW i notice it on youtube? omg i failed so much.... shame on me....
It's funny she refused to give a strand of her hair to Feanor in the Silmarillion even though he begged her several times, but gave it willingly to a dwarf. lol, Gimli's a charmer ^^
@iamthedarklord1314 Feanor did admire her Galadriel's beauty well as it reads in the Unfinished Tales, especially her hair, because it was told that the lights of Laurelin and Telperion were ensnared in her tresses, which is why he asked for one.
However, what Galadriel read in him was darkness which she hated, which why she rejected him. Yes, she's very beautiful, but she also has guts to reject a powerful elf. It's also assumed that it all was an inspiration for him to make the Silmarils.
Feanor was THE elf at the heart of everything that came to pass with elvendom, both the good and the bad, and Galadriel denied him... it was a incredibly significant gift.
Gimli was Galadriel's champion and an Elf-friend ever after - and it was his love for his friend Legolas and the Lady Galadriel that enabled him to be the ONLY dwarf to ever sail into the West, into Valinor.
I love this scene. I think of almost any of the characters, Galadriel was one of the most well portrayed. Both her incredible beauty and her warm and lovely spirit were shown here.
when i discoverd the extended editions, i was blown away by all the new beautiful scenes.. this is one of the most magical parts of the whole trilogy i think. It just occurred to me that Boromir doesn't seem to receive a gift... maybe galadriel knew there was not much she could give that would help him...
@Lamantyn In the book Boromir actually does get a gift from Galadriel, and so does Aragorn, but the filmmakers chose for some reason not to include that.
