What if you're drawing on a sketchpad that is placed flat down on the table. It's difficult to hold the pencil in this way. So how would I hold the pencil under these circumstances?
@TheMagesApprentice 1) SIT UP STRAIGHT. 2) Push your seat back 3) Slide your sketch pad so half of it is on the tap and the other half is off. 4) Grab the top of the sketch pad 5) Pivot the sketchpad to a 45 degrees 6) replay the video 7) Make an Intelligent Mess - aka practice drawing. Enjoy.
I Hold my pencils with my neck fat, that way I can draw with 100 pencils at once. I mount my paper on the inside of a cylindrical outhouse, then have my slaves who hover around all my precious shit, grab my legs and yank me out of the out house while rubber bands and tampon strings pull me back in. This method creates the best art imaginable, so good in fact, human eyes would eat their way to the back of your skull if you saw it.Now, go paint goat anus and leave me alone.
this guy needs to slow down i had to replay that 3 times to get the 7 concept seconds...horizontal vertical fingernail vertical horizontal ring fingernail u want to see your thumb nail diagonal diagonal point to point..maybe he doesn't want people to know or might be the type to smack students in the back of the head..but regardless of the sucky teaching....i did indeed learn this very powerful simplistic secret to drawing, so much thanx...but teaching is not a rocketship
@SaMiOK1 --- sucky teaching?? I would have to agree with you. If 5 to 10 of your students a year are looking to attend art college and because of their training with you they collectively win over $4,000,000 (million) dollars in portfolio scholarships to art college than --- yes -- I guess that would deem Myron a sucky teacher. - I raise my glass to Sucky Teachers across the world! Cheers.
@vargasarte I take that mean comment back...i regretted saying that stuff soon after..he must be a genius..or guru in the arts..i respect all artist good or bad..i could sense that he might be a "straightshooter" or hardas$ type..but those are the teachers and role models that I learn from the most, because we are not allowed to slack or slouch..good use of your sarcasm though..every other person might think your words were true..but between the lines, they are absolutely saying the opposite..
So many teachers denigrate the little things like basic mark making and the physicality of application. I can't count how many have told me to just "do it how you do it". And yet a bit of observation of any of the artists I admire reveals a great deal of commonality. Thanks starting at the beginning.
@MrAlvinDraper Thanks for your appreciation. If you have time you may find Myron's website interesting ( barnstonestudios ) and also a site Myron and I collaborated on together ( learntodrawanddesign -- here we have 10 to 30 min clips ). Again thank you for your comment. Enjoy the other views.
Thanks for your interest... Great News! 30 hours of training video on DVD is coming in the next few weeks. We will also be providing a membership site with full 24/7/365 video access to all the Drawing lectures and resources. Along with that Myron just sent the first part of his book off to the publishers.
Go to the barnstonestudio [com] website - sign up for the podcast or email list so you will know when the DVDs and book are available.
Thank you.
These videos are really helpful and interesting.
As a real novice I would have liked the teacher to slow down.
Still very helpful I learnt a lot and would recommend this series of videos.

@SatoshiBatista the way you hold a pencil can change how a drawing looks and how easy it is to draw, i'm not surprised at all
