Nice pipe and graeta choice of Tobacco. Happy New Year Tom. A couple of Issues ago in Pipe Collectors their was an article on breaking in a New Pipe. I tried it on the Tinsky I purchased worked great. Two bowls of Burley a day for 4 or 5 days and its done. It worked well.
No Tom! You dont hate on Christmas! We'll be up in '12 and have some GOOD Christmas times! hahahahaha We'll smoke Backwoods cigars! hahahaha We do the Ebb Tide in Seaside OR for a hotel. Funky old style, like 80's decor, but they all have gas fireplaces and right on the beach. Nicer than something like a richy rich hotel. We'll get Mark backcountrypipe down here to the state too! Wooo! No ciggy's Tom! Yuck! Maybe a hookah tho...:) Take care up there Tom! Hang in there.
You summed it up well "experiences" That is the best gift of all, something that will always be remembered. As I grow older those kind of things mean the most. Especially in such a commercialized society.
what a pipe! the sold items on the Etsy page are nice real lookers too. How did you stumble on Benjamin Briars?
On a side note- yes sharing experiences and having traditions really make the holidays better or any time of the year, it also makes gift giving more heartfelt, as you can contribute to the upcoming fun- heated grips or gloves for that winter morning ride! heated vest! or a cool shirt for hot desert rides- ah motorcycling is a great wonder of peace and adventure not too many know about
@MrDieselSmokin - I thought of you today as I had the TPS on the Cummins replaced (complaint was not dropping into OD consistently). Good to hear from you!
Good to see you. The pipe looks great. I am lucky enough to own a Benjamin Briar pipe and the craftsmanship and finish is superb, and it smokes really well too, which is the most important thing. btw ..Is the PS Turkish different from the Balkan Supreme ? Take Care and best wishes for 2012
@hampshirepipe - Thanks for the good wishes, and same to you! Yep, the Turkish is more like a cross between a burley (without the bite and with some flavor and body) and Virginia (though lighter and with less depth, though there are lots of different Virginias out there). Balkan Supreme is altogether different - more robust, more stout, more complex, darker and deeper (without being a mudpit) ... BS is still my favorite, Turkish for a less-involved smoke.
Very nice pipe Tom! Stay away from that cheap shit baccy! Haha. Its a bum deal really, those roll your own companies passing it off as pipe baccy. Thats one reason they (government) may raise pipe baccy prices in the future to plug that loop hole. Great vid Tom!
@astroman2112 - Thanks, James. Yeah, we pipesmokers will get penalized for low-lifes trying to cheat the taxman. All you can do is write your representatives ...
It's a real work of art, Benjamin. I almost feel like I should comb my moustache, slip into a necktie and put on a sportcoat when I smoke it - it's really a NICE pipe! Thanks for creating such sweet artistry - as I've discovered with my old CustomBilts and other vintage pipes, they can easily outlast the original owner, so there's some immortality-project going on there, too.
Hey, I am glad you finally recieved that pipe Tom. Me and Bill talked about it for months, Back and forth trying to design a pipe that would be to your taste. It seems to suit you very well. I am happy it all worked out well.
I agree with you 100% on exchanging experiences rather than things.I haven't seen many Benjamin Briar Pipes on YouTube as of yet, but I do have one and they are outstanding! Enjoy that thing, my friend! Take care - Cort.
Hey Tom! I only smoke cannabis, but you were the one who taught me how to light and use a match properly! Love your videos
