  • 18 people have opinions

  • Is that David Guetta in the middle?

  • @gpalyi definitly...

  • ¡Maravilloso!

  • Hated it. It's lifeless, overly produced and lacks soul. Go check out the original "REAL" version, uploaded by the same person (just look to the right side of your screen), performed by Ladysmith Black Mambazo and you're going to hear what I'm talking about. Then come back and tell me different.

Also, there is no Rockapella without Barry Carl.

  • The guy in the center looks EXACTLY like Owen Wilson!

  • 18 people are idiots

  • its boring can i have thumbs up for fun

  • IN the village rather than NEAR the village. This version is scary.

  • There is no such thing as too many performances of this song a capella on city street in the US.

  • A school totally ripped us in the choir competition with this song and version no suprise

  • The quote 'Do it, Rockapella' came from that game show Where In the World is Carmen Diego

  • Omnomnomnomnom I love Rockapella.

  • Where in the world is Carmen San Diego ? Do it, Rockapella.

  • @Wellch I'm afraid I don't understand. Are you implying that Rockapella should cover Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?!?! They wrote it!

  • The best cover i averd heard the man ho's singing is just awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • The lead bothers me. Hes amazing. But he sings pretentiously. I can honestly say thats the first time i've used that adverb ever. watch him sing live and you'll agree with me.

  • Om the zebra the yummy zebra the lion leaps tonight!

  • grew up watching where in the world is carmen sandiego just to hear these guys sing....lol! Kewls thanx for posting this. : D

  • how is rockapella R&B? :/

  • this is amazing

  • Wonderful. I grew up in the bush in Tanzania, & this song was always around, being sung by watu & Wazungu alike. Makes you long for Africa. Great rendition.

  • (REMIX) eeeeeeee~ oh bimboaee eeeeeeee~ oh wimboaee, in the jungle the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight. Homer farted an earthquake started the lions sleep tonight.

  • rockapella i thnk has been my favoite group since the been on the tv show

  • yeah, the dude who wrote this original song died very poor in South Africa, the Disney was later sued for copy right!

  • I enjoyed this very much, but there is an even better rendition of this song by the TOKENS that I once heard on NAPSTER a long time ago, but never heard it again. I wish someone would post it.

  • @drstrap

It's on YT, my friend - just type in "The Tokens"! Enjoy!

  • Is he a bit flat?

  • @MarineAquatic No, he's dead on, the timbre of some voices can cause it to seem as if they are flat.

  • for braducsb2-

    Idiot.

This is a very old traditional African lullaby originally titled "The Quiet Village".

You dont like it? Dont listen to it-

    Asshole.

  • @Xychk So they spoke English in traditional African settings? And they sang onstate with microphones? I think you're the idiot here buddy.

  • @braducsb2 hey if you dont like dont listen to it

  • @joshcam12001 Fair enough - thanks for the advice. But will you at least tell me what "Oh weem oh wet" means?" Is that a different language or something? Maybe it's French.

  • @braducsb2 I dont know you got me thinking on that now

  • @braducsb2 ... accapella, i must admit, is an acquired taste. it shows off the true nature of the human vocal range and how when moulded properly, vocals can be simply quite amazing. rockapella's name is not really that misleading, because when you think about it, there are many types of 'rock' and this song could be classified as 'classic' or 'soft' rock and their other songs fall under similar genres as well.

  • @braducsb2 ... also. the lyrics you are 'ah wimoweh' but they weren't the original lyrics. the song was originially called 'mbube' when written by solomon linda which meant 'lion' in 'zulu'. when sung some years later by a group called the weavers, they titled it 'wimoweh' after mishearing the original songs chorus of 'uyimbube' which in zulu meant 'you're a lion'. new lyrics were written by the group with arguable the most popular version, the tokens.

  • @moondogz10 I did not know that - thanks for the info. Very interesting!

  • @braducsb2 ah... sweet posts by people who have no understanding of what music really is. I would imagine that you are into Rock, metal, or some of the other new stuff like that.... let me point something out... in the world of music.... modern instruments that generaly comprise what you seem to feel is true rock, are relatively new. and if you listen to some of rockapella's stuff, they imitate instruments with their voices too... do us a favor, dont post on stuff you know nothing about.

  • @koobra87 This is America sonny, so I have the right to state my opinion. I do know about the origins of pop music, which started with the chanting monks back in what - like 1500 or 1600? Anyhow - I think it sucks regardless. And I am well within my rights as an American to state that I'd rather listen to a jackhammer or the sound of explosive diarreah than Rockapella. Maybe they should do that - make sounds with their mouths (almost like beatboxing), to replicate the sound of diarreah - LOL

  • @braducsb2 if you hate it so much, how did you end up watching it? its obviously a capella, theyre called "rockapella" it would take a real idiot to not realize there were no instruments. that said, it takes a real limp-dick faggot to not appreciate the difficulty of perfectly executed 5-part harmony. so, which are you? both, im guessing :) this isnt america, btw, its the internet, so there actually is freedom of speech, which means i can tell you to go fuck yourself ...or a sleeping lion :)

  • @4tw4ever Hillarious dude - limp dick faggot? Wow - you must be very passionate about acapalla and Rockapella. BTW - I came across this after watching a parody called "Where in the fuck is Carmen Sandiego." I guess it would be pointless to send an insult back your way. You should know that I intentionally mess around on here and rarely mean what I say.

  • @braducsb2 I aim to please haha, to be honest I could care less about any of this shit, never heard about Rockapella til I saw this. I like to start shit with randoms on Youtube... It sounds cool though I was impressed.

  • @4tw4ever Yep - I guess it's OK. Maybe Rockapella should do some Slayer or Marilyn Manson.

  • best acapella

  • This is REAL music folks.

  • Rockapella is awesome!

  • Straight No Chaser beats Rockapella down, no question

  • @chadvvvickable I think its a toss up. SnC is good, but theres like 15 of them. I like the fact that they have fun with it. Theyre both fantastic.

  • @assaultu lol there's only ten of them but i see what you mean. I think both groups are fantastic!!! they both rule a capella music :D

  • @chadvvvickable ooooooh tough call. I do like SNC better than rockapella but these guys are still amazing!!!

  • @KunamaElgar yeah I'll givem that

  • Its really hard to tell if this is old or new, someone know for sure?

  • @Jetfan44 yeah i know for sure. i have the video (that's right VHS - because that's how long ago this was recorded) and i synced them up exactly. you can't miss barry carl's voice anyway.. it's so distinct.

  • I have done my research. 8 Years doing a PHD on these guys. Dont talk to me about research moondogz10. You are a loser. You are not a fan. Your head is full of useless info.

  • i found this group by looking for Zombie Jamporee cuz i really liked that song and this is of course a classic :D

  • This is the awesomest singers ever!!!!!!!

I love Jeff and the way he makes drum noises with his mouth!!!!\

I would love to see their concert!!!!

  • I like this version of Lion. Love the bassline and the dynamics.

  • Kinda weird that this is a concert performance (from album & DVD "In Concert") from before George Baldi III & John K. Brown, yet they're in all of the images.

  • Fantastic!!!!!

  • chills.

  • after the first 15 seconds its the beat boxer

  • clapping or not..listen and calm down dudes

  • the clapping is from the audience....nerd

  • Your comment makes no sense whatsoever.

  • @ljeptircic, it's live.

  • i know it's live... but how can you really experience the song and all the vocals while clapping...

@conroyfan22 - learn english and learn the sense...

  • @ljeptircic, it's building up on it like an album version can't, I guess.

  • It still makes no sense....

If a group is doing well, the audience will clap along with a song or two. Anyone who has ever been to ANY concert EVER knows this.

    ...moron

  • you are idiotic absurdic oximoron cause you don't feel or even know anything about music... especially that kind of music... so like, i don't care... and just enjoy the clapping... Retard!

  • Coming from an idiot who can't even construct a coherent sentence properly

  • @ljeptircic oh please on the name of all that is holy and sacred tell me that you are a troll and that you actually know what a fucking oxymoron is

  • @ljeptircic I do not think that "oxymoron" means what you think it means.

  • DANG

  • perfect pitch..good harmony.great sound! keep it up!!!!

  • pitch perfect

  • You should know

  • so the other 2 white ppl aren't in the group anymore?

  • Nope, the Bass, Barry Carland the last founding member Baritone/Second tenor: Elliott Kerman left,

replaced by John K. Brown and George Baldi III

  • Barry Carl is his name.

  • nice.. good base..

  • omg there hot

  • massa pra caralho!

  • Just to make it clear, the two black guys are the newest members of the group, This song was sung by the 3 white guys and another 2 of the original members.

  • am i the only one who thinks that the lead was very flat the whole way through?

    otherwise very good.

  • really??

  • yes you are

  • I think they are just singing it in a key that is a couple steps lower than you're used to hearing it. So the high note (you know which one I'm talking about) is what you're hearing lower, and that's the easiest means of comparison.

  • I don;t think he's flat for any other reason than the song seems one or two semi tones out of his range.

  • You're hearing the reverberation.

  • nice version :D

  • I love how he plays with the microphone. Like, you can hear as he pulls it away as the pitch bends upwards. From what I know about flute, it's pretty difficult to decrease volume going up a scale. Just wow at this :P

  • it like he not even trying like the song just come to him

  • cara de boa so bem mais o cantor original esse é podre:(

  • i love themmmmm <3

  • brilliant.

  • Beautiful

  • I love this Song !

So i tryed to play and sing it.

I would be glad if someone listens to it!

    Thank You :-)

  • hehe świetne:)

    they are great :)

  • they sang it great... but no one can be the origanal song bye the tokens!

  • he oida schreibts deutsch do is ...

  • No doubt that is Barry Carl.

  • hey, I didn't know Wayne Brady was in this group! hah

  • ha...he totally could be tho right?

  • i love rockapella. my favourite group in the world. what annoys me is when people dont do their research. FLORENCOM, this version was from their live stage show when barry carl and elliot kerman were still in the group. the pictures you are showing during the video are of the new rockapella with george baldi and john k brown (the two black dudes). please get it right dude in respect to the great ex-rockapellians.

  • why barry carl and elliot kerman arent in the group anymore?

  • @lilomimi94 they left the group years ago. barry carl is doing his own thing and casually singing with the other 3 original rockapella members. they are called XRP (ex-rockapella i assume?). elliott has taken up a jazz career i think? don't quote me on that though..

  • @moondogz10 I know you posted this over a year ago moondogz.... but why you gotta troll this dude for posting the song? yes, it would be nice if he had posted pics of the original group, but then, he could have posted some random unrelated pix. just be happy he didnt ruin it by putting a spoof video over the soundtrack

  • @koobra87 i'm not 'trolling' this dude for posting the song.. the song is great, i was just disappointed that he the stills accompanying the audio is not a true image of the group that recorded this version of the song. and florencom doesn't look like someone that would put a spoof video over this song.. as he has posted like a million other versions of 'the lion sleeps tonight'.

  • Was the original by the Kinsman a capella?

  • listen to straight no chasers version of this song, its better (I think)

  • These guys are absolutely SPECTACULAR!!! I wish that my friend and I sounded this good. This is one of their best ones!! Way to go, fellas!!

  • WoW they nail this song.LOVE IT

  • They are AMAZING!

  • when it relates to tanzania every song sounds beautiful

  • I love this song, so i tryed do record a version. Its not perfect, but i would be happy if somene listens to it, thanks :)

    Greetings !

  • Wow the note leading into the next part of the verse at 0:37 and 1:08 was really great! It almost sounds like there is an echo effect.. probably because he was pulling the mic away from his face giving the illusion that it's quieter..

  • i did mine wrong its really "they r cool..ok im LYING........

  • they r cool....ok im they r AWSOME my favorite is carmen sandiago i need to know how to do that

  • wow that soloist voice is great and he can sing so high! he can sing stuff in full voice that i can only sing in falsetto, damn! mad props!

  • one of the best rockapella

  • Nah..newyawker is just trying troll around

  • you have something against people with musical talent?

  • great!!
