  • Where can I get conductive foam I tried RadioShack they didn't have it

  • Just made one and it seems like the foam loses conductivity once I shape it. Any ideas? I've heard people soak the foam in salt water and then leaving to dry?

  • I tried this with the primer of my 5.56mm bullet cartridge and it worked 0.o im not jokin.pls somebody explain this.

  • It works with a cheese stick.... Im not even kidding

  • This is amazing. Im going to try this!

  • Where do you get the wires and the foam thingy?

  • As my stylus is hiding at the moment, I decided to try this. It works great - thank you! :)

  • I wonder if it's possible to make a more advanced stylus that can transmit pressure information via bluetooth or something like that.

  • I would make this but I would probably wrap the wire all the way to the tip cause I like using the grip

  • To mintEEV, he's not even Asian and u couldn't even make a stylus better than his!!!

  • The app is sketch book mobile express

  • @h0wtec I tried to get a stylus from apple and it's 20 dollars not 3 dollars

  • What the app?

  • yours is by far the best design for a DIY iPad stylus. thanks!

  • I'd rather pay $3 for a proper stylus.

  • Oh for Pete's Sake the app is called Doodle.

  • @blenellchaney Be careful, on android, there is another called doodle... it's not the same.

  • Useful.

  • By the way, common kitchen sponges use conductive foam.

  • please tell us what is that APPPPPPPPPPPPPPP....

  • What was the app he was using?

  • Sakuya uses a knife!

    *knifed*

  • Wat was the name of the app ???

  • I hope this works with galaxy ace

  • Brilliant!

I suppose this would work for any capacitive screen :)

  • will this worked on galaxy tab?

  • Could someone tell me the app plz

  • Awesome thx

  • That is the most badass wire stripper I've ever seen

  • @850pcolafirefighter RadioShack. $25 or so, IIRC.

  • omg i tried this and it wrked! thnx ;)

  • Very nice video, thanks!

  • GENIUS!!

  • Nothing beats STYLUS-R-US stylus. Nothing. They have over 42 to choose from, 10 of which are telescoping, one of which is the TERMINATOR. beststylusDOTcom. They rock!!

  • Ur a genius

  • Whats the name of the black thing u put into the pen?

  • I love Collin's Lab, Circuit Skills, Make presents:, every single Make: video apart from Sylvia's Super Awesome Mini Makers' Show. She's just showing off that she's being famous because of her Awesome father, and that she couldn't do any of this without her awesome father, and that her awesome father has everything I could possibly want, and that her father is awesome! Huhhh... Sorry, I'm just so mad!

  • thanks a lot!

  • @misspetunia3 u can find the foam in antistatic foam packaging like in packaging from electronics or computer parts...

  • Why not just use a metal pen? Instead of all that wiring?

  • What app was that?

  • Best contest ever: goo.gl\8ONjl have fun and win ipad 2.

  • Where can you get that foam?

  • 2:11 spy sappin my ipad!

  • those who can't find conductive foam, you can replace the foam with a sponge dip in a salt water.

  • @miathermo can you explain that more please

  • I went my nearest dollar store in Canada and found an amazing stylus and it's great!!!

  • Check out: goo.gl\QyzJ5 - iPad 2 giveaway.

  • Someone has now done this with a paperclip and a wet sponge

  • What app you used to draw?!?!

  • whers kipkay?

  • Easier Method:

Wrap some foil around a pen or pencil.

I found this out by accident but it really works ;)

  • @MrSkinnyBill Cover the pen/pencil completely? Also, do you think this would work with a touchpad on a laptop?

  • @AngelKissedFromHell Yep... The electrical signals from your hand move down the foil to the tip, Basically how this pen above works.

It may work on a laptop, but it depends if it works in the same way as a capacitive touchscreen works. It probably only works on a multitouch trackpad. I know for sure it works on MacBook's and MacBook Pro's from 2009 or newer. Them trackpads use the same technology as iPhone touch screens so it does work (i tried xD)

  • @MrSkinnyBill I love you

  • Is there other ways to get the foam ?

Just curious 'cos I want a stylus myself.

  • @MadmanDKDK let me know if you find out

  • i guarentee that the ipad 3 or 4 will have a stylus... -_-

  • @JustForGirls101

lie will not have stylus because these 'pens' are for MP15 or designers who seek precision after the iphone and a tablet and not a machine image editing (can be used as) but naum is discreet as everything from apple (minus the ipod's colored)

    by hvdavi part one

  • the stylus are for nessecidades species such as precision and others but mairoria people who usao they are low class or Usan the hipad's or Hiphone "s believe they are better than or equal to the iphone or iphone then we will not copy the fakes is not

    by hvdavi part two

  • how much do those chips cost that are on the foam?

  • would anyone like to tell me what/where to get those wire strippers?

  • Will it scrath the screen at all?

  • @JarredsBlog no it is foam

  • when my brother saw ur face he said omg he is 8years old

  • Comment removed

  • What was the app you had '?

  • LOLOL i cant believe there are no jokes in the top rated comment related to the quote at 1:52. "i'll just trim the tip until it's nice and smoooth"

  • @jchang911 ha that's what she said

  • @jchang911 Fucking dirty asian.

  • Name of the app?

  • Why do you need wire? Why can't you just put a piece of foam in a pen tip and cut it?

  • @Superarragon5 it picks up the signal from the elctromagnetic surge that runs nautrually through the human body...it needs that to show up on the IPAD no current no response the wire touches the hand , which then runs to the foam ... the foam has to have ur touch to work

  • Who the fuck charges $50 for a stick that has less uses than a pencil?

  • Get'~.Your.'.IPOD",~Here.,"

    Copy~,~And"',Paste~''

  • Nevermind it's NOT called brushes -.-

  • The app is called brushes tho it is pretty expensive(:

  • Thanks, u just saved me thirty bucks...

  • What app is?

  • Does anyone know what app that is?

  • Why do you use a wire?

  • Song in the beginning?

  • you should have used aluminium tape

  • what does the conductive foam do that different from just using a wire?

  • @jaymasterwizard just to protect your screen i would assume

  • Coolio

  • If u have conductive tape you can rap the whole pen with it without having to touch a specific area. It works so much better

  • Is it possible to call you "Your Awesomeness" in future?

I guess there is nothing that you don't know an nothing you can't do...

Really amazed by all the videos and stuff!

  • Conductive foam equals ask a local computer repair shop.

  • Why conductivity is important?

  • @Hector95100 Conductivity is important because (good) touch screens use electrical conductivity to detect where you're touching the display. (Google "capacitive touch screen".)

  • @Hector95100 theres 2 types of touch screens, capacitive and resistive, resistive has a thin film over the screen and the screen detects when the film touches the screen, capacitive works with conductivity, and the human body conducts electricity very well. an example is.. if you aren't getting good reception on your radio, you'll get much better reception when you hold onto the antenna

  • What i will never understand is there are THOUSANDS of "make your own stylus" videos and NOT ONE company decides to be GENEROUS to actually give us a cheap stylus that doesn't cost $15.00+

I DONT NEED A $15 PEN WITH FOAM AT A STORE! i will make my own

  • Oh but....where to get the foam???

  • AWESOME and EASY! how great is that?? Perfectnsolution for my animation problems!!!

  • @ValHilliard WoW

    11 thumps

    nice support :P

  • What app is that?

  • Ive been looking for some damn conductive foam everywhere. I CAN'T FIND IT. FFFFUUUUUU-

  • @o0ShadowsfeaR0o google: conductive foam

  • My husband did this for me last night, didn't take long at all, and the stylus ROCKS. Thanks for this!

  • where can i get a conductive foam

  • Some what stylish stylus! Ha

  • what the crap, someone please answers one of the hundred "Where can I buy this conductive foam?" Questions. PLEASE!

  • @bubblejuiceman eBay. search conductive foam. was it that hard?

  • @bubblejuiceman google: conductive foam

  • Now, i know what's name of this application. Brushes. It's a paid app.

  • Does anyone know what the app for drawning?

  • @NewSevenDays sketchbook is a cool one :D

  • cool! what drawing app is that?

  • I had no idea there was such a thing as conductive foam. How awesome.

  • Guys I can do a capacitative stylus for less than a half-buck and much more easier... well I'll post a vid in some few days. But still, yours is awesome :D

  • Guys I can do a capacitative stylus for less than a half-buck and much more easier... well I'll post a vid in some few days.

  • What is the app u r using??

  • Sweet lamb-chops dude!

  • that's an expensive piece of copier paper you've got there

  • @onfe1 there are so many apps when I look that up. What does the emblem look like or likenis it free I really want to find that app

  • I HAVE THAT SAME IPAD CASE!!!! XD

  • you dont need the wire, it doesnt matter about cantacting your skin, it just needs to contact the screens conductivity receptors

  • @Halofreak131313 you can do that with a nintendo DS. an iPad uses another screen technology that senses the micro electronic impulses in your finger made by your heart. :)

  • @thomaskaufi the ipod, ipad, moto droid and other devices that use a capacitive touch screen work on a capacitive material contacting two thin meal strips embedded in the display. The processor then calculates where the display was touched by how long it took to receive the command. I am using a plashic pen with an anti-static bag on the front. it does not touch my hand at all and there are no wires going to my hand and it still works perfectly fine.

  • I wonder if I can get that kind of foam at home depo?

  • Exactly how I imagined it would work.

  • those are some serious isaac asimov porkchops...

  • My question is, why would they NOT include a stylus?

  • @MrGeneralGOW because you can only TOUCH with a finger...

  • @Slench101 yes but my point was that they would have to make it to work only with a finger.

  • @MrGeneralGOW because it only reacts to heated surfaces like ur finger so anything wont just react to anything so its hard

  • @MrGeneralGOW it's Crapple!

  • @MrGeneralGOW Its about Apple getting royalties.

  • @MrGeneralGOW cuz steve jobs thinks everybody can use there finger.

  • @MrGeneralGOW so they can sell you one in a multitude of colours for the low low price of 29.99! Yay apple!

  • @MrGeneralGOW multitouch. They overpromote it.

  • @MrGeneralGOW Because its apple.

  • @MrGeneralGOW So they can release one seperately for more money, just like they did with the adapter, and the keyboard, and everything. It's all about money ;)

  • @MrGeneralGOW

Seriously? You wouldn't have to go buy one if they did that.

  • @MrGeneralGOW they want you to buy it, so they can make money

  • @MrGeneralGOW If you watch the original iPhone Keynote, steve jobs has a huge rant as to why it doesn't have buttons or a physical keyboard, ...and why it doesn't use a stylus.

He says its because you have to get them out and they break or you lose them and they're horrible. "So you are going you are going to use the greatest pointing device ever invented....... Your Finger"

  • Stupid song made me unconsciously "raise the roof". WTH that's that cool. (and my "stupid", I mean very catchy and stuck in my head) Thanks for this video and all of the other great ones you have made.

  • Easier way wrap tinfoil alll around the pen. DONE

  • It's paint for the iPad

  • what app is that

  • Does this work with iPod Touch too?

  • @sorarock1221 works on every heat touch screen

  • @Ikymay capacitative yo, not heat, 2 different physical phenomenon

  • @vishizs my bad

  • love this thing

  • I've been using a carrot stick, which works amazingly well but looks stupid.

  • @MinorDetailssnirk u never know it might look cool if we were all rabbits

  • doesn't it scratch the screen?

  • @ radioactivelegos no it does not, it just makes you a lier.

  • I'd love to have the music in this video!

  • I made mine out of a scotch bright pad.

  • come on. if you have enough money to buy an iPad, why don't you have enough money to buy a stylus ?????++

  • Ok, this is madness.

I did this EXACT same thing about 6 months or so ago.

Old pen, conductive foam, wire & all, even the same method of attachment O.o

    Soo weird.

Does this make me a genius?

  • @RadioactiveLegos - Not a genius, just a person with an average IQ and common sense.. xD

  • I feel sorry for all of you caught up in the buying and trying (stylus) game all of these alleged stylus companies have you stuck doing. There’s only one stylus for touch screens and that’s STYLUS-R-US. They have 35 different styluses, all with the same tip that requires literally zero downward pressure. Stop blowing your money on crap and check out beststylusDOTcom. Now that’s something to tell others about.
