After reading some of the comments here I feel like I, as a football (soccer) loving european, need to set this discussion straight.
Playing American football requires talent. Speed, strength, agility, hand-eye coordination and so on. And yes, the players are faster and stronger the ones playing "soccer". This is because they train and play with a violent and military like attitude seeing as their goal is to execute their playbook runs, blocks and passes perfectly.
Football (Soccer) on the other hand relies less on physical strengths and more on being creative, communicating and working as a team. Players have more freedom to do as they think is best, not just run predetermined runs and choosing who to throw the ball to. This freedom has made soccer into a lifestyle and made it the most artistic sport in the world. Soccer can be played by anyone, anywhere, at any time. Comparing American Football to Soccer is comparing apples to oranges. The games are vastly different. Both require unique skill sets that don't necessarily carry over to the other sport. Saying one is "better" than the other is like saying Honda cars are better than Sony TV's, it just doesn't make sense. One thing I will say about American football is that the skill positions require a high level of intelligence and mental quickness. It may be the most complex and complicated sport to play.
Both are fruits that grown on trees and actually have quite a few similarities probably.
But I agree with what you are saying, Football and Ammerican Football are not compareable. Just because they have a similar name doesn't make them that similar at all.

@vikfk the strong safety are changing entire plays and rearranging assignments back and forth before the actual snap. its something that takes a long time to pick up on as a viewer but espn for example will often replays critical plays in a game the week after and breakdown what;s going on on the field. its a chessmatch within a chessmatch. its fascinating to watch once you learn the game.

that there are so many basic things, like skating and stick handeling, who you never thought of as part of the game. In "Soccer" those things are ball control, positioning and running off the ball. In AF you have more or less one skill that you perfect and do over and over. It's still fun to watch the Superbowl, I do that every year, but watching the "same" runs and throws over and over for a whole season will make it less special (for me).

Comparing American Football to Soccer is comparing apples to oranges. The games are vastly different. Both require unique skill sets that don't necessarily carry over to the other sport. Saying one is "better" than the other is like saying Honda cars are better than Sony TV's, it just doesn't make sense. One thing I will say about American football is that the skill positions require a high level of intelligence and mental quickness. It may be the most complex and complicated sport to play.
