Taiwan is very important to China for national security and control of the water for Naval and transportation purposes. If a war ever break out between China and the US. The Taiwan Referendums are not real, they will have no effect on the final outcome of the UN Veto of Taiwan Joining the UN. It is much to do about nothing. I lived in Shin Juan for 6 years and I know that the topic was only used to distract the public from all the real issues that Taiwan is having. In the recent 400 years, some Minnans and Hokkas (descendants of ancient Yueh people) from the southeast region of the Eurasian Plate immigrated into Taiwan and married our Taiwan aboriginals. The descendants of these hybrids are all children of Homo sapiens.

If you are willing to open your eyes to the wider world, you may perhaps understand Taiwanese better!

To rrtrentxwb: I must say that I do not agree with you on the first part of your statement: The Republic of China (ROC) exiled in Taiwan is still a foreign regime and the Constitution that ROC Regime has adopted to govern the people of Taiwan is not even observed by that ROC Regime. Even worse, the Dept. of Justice in the Executive Yuan and the Judiciary Yuan of the ROC Regime are not trusted by Taiwan people.

Therefore, we still wish to set up a new Taiwan country with our own Constitution.

當年胡適在中國大陸遭遇外國侵略時，也還積極推動民主教育的啟蒙­；反而是那些主張不必急著去推動民主教育而應先號召人民盡全力抵 禦外侮的人後來在文化大革命、天安門事件...讓數以千萬計的中­國人民受難了！
