@mscotthorn he played ith sunnyland slim bak n da 50's he waz featured on sunnyland slim and pals, sunnyland slim would play piano while floyd jones would sing
Floyd Jones also performed this song live in a public TV documentary about the closing of the Chicago stockyards. He sang it at banquet for the closing ceremonies.
What humility. It breaks my heart to hear him say he didn't make it and catch on like Muddy and the rest. I think the rest of us can raise our glass to Floyd. A real working musician. You made it, man. You made it.
The recordings he did with Eddie Taylor were GREAT....."Don't your peaches look kind of mellow, Hanging way up on your top limb"....Hello to you R.Ross ftom Big Frank in S.I.
Now we are gettin into the naughty stuff, Squeeze my Lemons till the juice runs down my leg. Verses used by quite a few, Johnson, Dan Picket, Yank Rachell. Please let me be your lemon squeezer.
Floyd Jones was an amazing songwriter, guitarist, bassist, and singer. And he was the nicest cat you could ever want to meet. I got to work with him in Chicago for awhile along with Homesick James, and Big John Wrencher, and it was just an awesome experience. You're the best Floyd!!!
Yor right 67, because the Blues is a folk music, in the real sense of the word, not shobiz blues,so it was made in the one room country shacks of the cotton fields, so is ideal in a livin room in Chicago, Atlanta, Durham,, NC. where ever these talented guys & gals were found.
Wonderfull stuff!
Gitfiddlejim.
In case you are curious, gitfiddle jim was Kokomo Arnolds other recording name.
For all our younger friends, this gentlemen was a favorite bluesman of Syd Barret .... the name of the band comes from Floyd Anderson and Pink Anderson .... history is a circle .. hehehehehe. Michel - Belgium.
Sorry, Michel, but you are quite wrong. Pink Floyd was named after Syd's favorite Piedmont bluesmen, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, a thousand miles from Chicago!
Still good. No time can erase good music. It's always out there somewhere.

@Sixgutstringable well yeah his "success" is undoubtable, but I kinda feel like it's a shame seeing such a talented man feeling down on himself

Floyd Jones also sang this song in a public TV documentary about the closing of the
Chicago stockyards. He sang it from near (or at) the podium at the banquet table at the closing ceremony.

Floyd Jones went to Parchman Penitentiary for a while for killing a guy (just like Lead Belly). I don't know what it was over tho..
