I loved this video and song back in the early 80's. Probably one of the definitve MTV videos for me much like Talking Heads "Once in a Lifetime" and Buggles "Vidoe Killed the Radio Star".
almost all of my friends hated this song, I think it,s a hell of a jam. back in the old days with the fuzzy tv screens I thought the girl looked like she might have been Stella Stevens after her acting career had slowed down. hot girl in any case and a great song.
This song (video. I used to live for going to my aunt's house, where she had CABLE (we didn't), and she'd let me watch MTV in her bedroom the entire visit, much to my parents' distress!) totally fronts my 80s soundtrack. The video, like most early 80s vids, wrapped an entire thrilling movie in a neat three minute package. What a great medium MTV used to be :{
BTW, I always thought the blond looked like Terry Nunn of Berlin
I believe he is referring to Dave Bowman from 2001: A Space Odyssey, the only crewmember of the ill-fated Discovery mission to Jupiter. He returned in 2010: Odyssey II.
What's funny is - this video was probably made on a budget of like 10 cents, but the minimalism of it only increases the overall creepiness factor. Kinda like what happend with Star Trek's "Spectre of the Gun" episode (the one at the OK Corral). They couldn't afford real sets, so they used skeletal frames of sets, which only added to the "nightmarish" aspect of the episode.
@PlaceSoFarAway I couldn't agree more. This scared the daylights out of me as a kid...and maybe still does today. The SFX, by the by, were and are really good.
Thankyou for posting.. great sound nice picture... I really underappreciated this song by then...took me many years to feel the depth of it.., brilliant..

Wow! I remember this from 1983. Great song, and it really fueled my love of science fiction. Oh, and this was a scary video in my opinion.

Excellent song, excellent album, however depressing. But it's my second-favorite concept album behind ELO's "TIME" from 1981.

Nice pokies. She reminds me of actress Stella Stevens in her younger days.
