His hips were clearing just fine when he hit it from the drop zone, you can see both butt cheeks at impact as well as his right foot rolling. These commentators just assume what happened in an attempt to sound all knowing. Go Paddy!
At these kind of par 3s that are surrounded by water and traps you better go for a safe place on the green rather than to attack the flag. Better a safe par or bogey than this kind of sh*t...
Wilson Staff Irons are great they used to be the best and most widely used Irons from 70's-90's. Like the FG-17 Blades are the shit, all wilson blades are good clubs, even the new FG-62's Padraig just had abad hole, this is a really tough hole when its playing 150 for member play not to mentionduring the PGA championship
lol he wins 2 majors in one year and back to back British opens with wilson but makes an 8 on one hole and ppl are bashing the clubs, i play the wislon staff fg tour forged irons and i love them!
You shouldn't really complain about clubs that you've never hit. Wilson's are really great stuff, for example the new FG9-tours have gotten some very nice feedback.
I really wish that he would switch to Titleist or even Taylormade...I mean, come on, let's be honest, Wilson for a pro is like a Spalding golf club, haha. Scratch irons and wedges are actually my favorite, though. That, and Mizuno. Mizuno and Scratch feel like butter, baby! Haha, as for drivers, I really dig the original Burner Superfast and I am actually really loving my new Superfast 2.0, despite it being white. /: Titleist 910 D2 and D3 are also SWEEEETTT. Love them all.
@dschultz6072 Ultimately, it is the indian, not the arrow, yes. But all I am saying is that there are better clubs for a PGA tour pro. But, I never said that his irons were why he was struggling. I just meant that he deserves to play a club that is...not a Wilson. I do agree with you, though.
@CrimsonSlap they're all the same man. the shafts are really what make them different, and most of the pros just throw in an X100 or a PX 6.0 or 6.5 whatever. a pro can really play anything. most of them just play musclebacks, which are very simple clubs and all they need.
@dschultz6072 Alright, I hear you. I mean, for me, I really do have my preferences. Like, I can REALLY tell the difference between drivers and wedges. I play KBS Tours for shafts and love them, but, I really can tell the difference "feel" wise in irons and such. I don't know, I just prefer an iron that I like the look of at address and feel good. For instance, Taylormade RAC irons really, REALLY stuck out to me. They really do not feel good off the face FOR ME.
@georgiadeputy wilson sort of do suck now but have had some decent irons over the years. Daly won with wilsons at the british open and used a ultra ball haha and bernard langer even earlier used wilson blades. they where real good sticks.
@georgiadeputy Nothing wrong with wilson staff clubs., just a bad hole for Padraig, even the pros have them....Tiger woods had a similar experience recently at one of the masters this year. You should never blame the clubs as it it always the golfer who takes the shot. I play with Wilson Staff Ci9 irons and excellent club, dxi rescue is not bad also.
Of course they should show a 3 time major champ having a hell hole. It tells everyone how fickle and utterly uncompromising the game is. Pros shank, top, hook, thin, skin n struggle just like Cup :) 'I'm catching it on the hosel? Moving my head? I'm laying it off? pronating, I'm clearing too early, too late. My swing feels like an unfolding chair!' he he If u cant relate to that then you haven't played this beautiful game!

just goes to show how unforgiving golf can be, one bad shot can be the difference between a great round and a nightmare
