ok, i havr the same amp and it sounds 1000X better... you need to first throw that piece of shit boss noise gate and get an ISP decimator. second you need a new cab... i have a limited edition crate red voodoo with V30's and it will push so much bass it will make your chest hurt after an hour or so of playing. third, you need a overdrive pedal. the maxon od-808 is a dream and it makes your tone have that edge. and forth, a bbe sonic maximizer. Its like taking a sheet off your amp. good playing..
Look at Vader cabs. I just got a 4x12 from them for a 6550+ and there is no words to describe it. Don't get a Marshall V30's are outdated and Mesa is WAYY over priced. I have had both. Really anything with Eminence speakers will be great but check out the Vader's.
this is waaay cheaper than dual and hmm i think for metal this would be just more than enough...but go to the store and try them both that is my recommendation
You pinch harmonics are like screeching robots. Nice, but very crude. But not too bad overall. But please, do yourself a favor and get either Mesa or Marshall 1960 cabs.
@HBK1337 you gotta take construction of the cab into it. Line 6 cabs aren't gonna be that good because Line 6's are modeling amps, which rely heavily on digital effects (which leaves cabinet tone useless), however Marshalls will be made a little better. I now recommend Bogner cabs so whatever.
@RockaRollaZombie ok, im only talking about its tone, not its durability. the only thing that affects its tone is what speakers it has in it. vintage 30's are some pretty damn good ones. mesa cabs use the same ones and marshall 1960s use lower quality G12t-75's. just because line 6 heads rely on digital effects mean its matching cabs will, too. thats not even possible to have digital effects built into a cab.
@HBK1337 I'm not referring to durability. There's a reason why different cabinets with the same speakers sound different, and that's construction. What I was referring to when I brought up digital effects is that if your amp is modeling itself after something else with heavy use of digital effects, it doesn't matter how the cabinet is designed or what speakers are in it because the amp will sound the same through any cab. Also, 1960's can have Vintage 30's, just look at the 1960Vs.
@RockaRollaZombie 1960V's dont V30's in them. its still a "vintage" type of celestion, but V30. and how coud the construction of a cab possibly affect the tone it delivers? i mean, they're both built to the same specs as far as size. the only thing that would be different is the type of wood, which im sure wouldnt even make an audible difference in the tone.
@HBK1337 you're fucking with me right? because play a head through a Marshall, Mesa, and an Orange and tell me that, even if they all have Vintage 30's
sorry if this is a stupid question but I bought this head used and im looking to change the tubes. Are there any specific tubes I should get for the 6505+ or any anyone can recommend?
dude. i have a fucking line 6 spider 3 150 watt. and its garbage. it fries all the time. i'm gonna do away with the head and get a 6505+ but yeah how does anybody think the line 6 cab will sound with the 6505+ on it
the 300 dollar cab is crap. the 700 dollar one is good, and loaded with vintage 30 speakers. Get the 700 dollar one, its better than paying 1k for a new recto cab, unless you can find one used for a good price.
you really need to take the ns-2 out of your rig. you dont want a supressor. you want a gate. i recommend an mxr smart gate or and isp decimator. i use the decimator. it silences any noise while still letting harmonics ring and controlled feedback. th ns-2 kills your tone. that amp is far too nice to be destroyed by some shitty pedal. oh and i play a triple rectifier. and the decimator or smart gate it the way to go bro.
hey man i read your settings and i see your problem with the tone that you were saying. if you want like more raw tone and shit definatly like put the low on about 5, treb about 6, and put the mid on about 8 or 9. it really brings out the tone of the tubes that way. lemme kno how it works out if you try it bro
ns-2 cuts your tone a little bit which most of people including me don't like that, so i now have a ts9dx tube screamer in front the amp to add a little more gain to my tone to make up the tone that ns-2 takes away
and i never tried the isp but i heard they are badass
is that really the br00tality of your tone? or does the camera play a role in the sound, cause if thats what it really sounds like, then im buyin a 6505
the camera is just a cheapass webcam, so is the mic which only costed me 10 bucks, lol
and i dont know why so many people here like the tone in this video, cuz my tone is affected by the crappy mic and the compression from youtube, the actual sound from the amp is 10 times better!!!
peavey has a better amp that does same job and is able to do more than the 6505's, the jsx....but for the price, i dont think there's any METAL amp that can beat 6505's
Ever played on a Krank head? that would give the 6505 a run for its money. But I would probably buy a 6505 before a Krank because it is alone just for the Krank head is around $2,500, so it is really expensive. its a grand cheaper for the 6505 and that head is balls. my brother is running his through a Marshall cab and it sounds unreal.
yeah, ive played a used krank dimebag sig. head for 1900, i didnt like it, it wasnt worth for all that money...for it's price and sound quality, 6505's are unbeatable, maybe the carvin v3's, but i can't comment on those until i play one myself
awsome...i love your band and i can play all of yabba dabba doom. if you guys ever need a guitarist im here =] how much did ur flextone cab cost cuz my 6505+ is gonna be here friday and i want a new cab.
did you compare + with 6505?I heard that 6505 have more balls, but + is better with band mix,and is more articulate.good tone btw,and btw2 I bought 6505+ few days ago:))
u already bought it then nvm, haha, but 6505 does have more gain than 6505+, but it's easier to get a tone u like on 6505+, and plus i dont need that much of gain from 6505, i set my gain at 6 on 6505+
what do you mean by "its easier to get the tone u like on 6505+"? because of the second eq or is the sound difference that big?... what exactly is the main difference of 6505 and the plus? (beside the 2nd eq and the gain...) so i can figure out which one fits me better XD... please write me thx... by the way... fu%&ing aweson brutal tone... murder riffs and yeah ...peavey XD
6505+ is more precise, since 6505 has a lot more gain than 6505 IMO, and 6505's two channels share the same EQ, which is a huge pain in the ass, and not only the EQ, the resonance and presence are shared between 2 channels as well, so to me i need a nice light tone from the 1st channel etc clean or od, and a nice heavy tone from 2nd channel. and besides all the differences in features, the 6505+ is much nicer, wider body, metal covered pedal and cable for connection
ok thx... and what if i kick a distortion pedal in between?... but i think the sound of the distortion is way 2 nice to be raped... or?
in that case... the 200 bucks are damn worth it to pay?... i definitly find the 6505 more attractive but it seems just the better way to buy the +... and more opitons too...
an yeah the distortion sounds muddy if u turn it up the whole way...and the 6505 has just more gain?... pure crap... no need for that much...
@toshiyaaiyang Gain is not everything, the 6505+ has plenty of it. Anyway if you play in a band and at higher volume usually you lessen the gain raise the mid to cut in the mix. Many people buying half stack to play in a bedroom focus all the time on the amount of gain and usually are scooping their mid a big nono in stage volume...
@Antiflag18241 the difference between the 6505 and the 6505+ is that besides the separate eq for each channel, the 6505+ has an extra preamp tube which gives it the extra 'umph'! that people love in an amp.
@BlazingInferno67 Thats not the truth. That added preamp tube is for clean channel switching. However 6505+ has plenty of gain on its own and a better clean on the rhythm channel; its a good thing to have that separate EQ and that added preamp tube. I have a 6505+ Enslaved is using that too and their tone is awesome !!!
hey man, I played the 6505 and its tone isnt shit compared to the + its just so damn much more weak. it sounds to damn dry....like your playing through a noisegate all the time. Good Choice on the 6505+
yer thats sick, shows the balls of what the 6505+ has.. cant wait till i get mine. are you using any noise gates or anything through the loop thanks m8. BRUTAL
yeah, i use a boss ns-2 in front of it, which takes away some of the tone, then i use a mxr super comp in front of ns-2 so i can get some of the sound back
it's a sick amp, man, it acutally sounded heavier and had more bottom, u couldnt hear it cuz i was using a cheapass 10 bucks mic as u can see in the video..lol
I'm currently using DR's DDT strings for drop a. What strings do you use?

6505+ is more precise, since 6505 has a lot more gain than 6505 IMO, and 6505's two channels share the same EQ, which is a huge pain in the ass, and not only the EQ, the resonance and presence are shared between 2 channels as well, so to me i need a nice light tone from the 1st channel etc clean or od, and a nice heavy tone from 2nd channel. and besides all the differences in features, the 6505+ is much nicer, wider body, metal covered pedal and cable for connection

ok thx... and what if i kick a distortion pedal in between?... but i think the sound of the distortion is way 2 nice to be raped... or?
in that case... the 200 bucks are damn worth it to pay?... i definitly find the 6505 more attractive but it seems just the better way to buy the +... and more opitons too...
an yeah the distortion sounds muddy if u turn it up the whole way...and the 6505 has just more gain?... pure crap... no need for that much...
ok thank u fu%&ing much dude...
