Just FYI, spartans >ODST by far. Have you all even read the novels? The spartans were fucking kidnapped from there homes, placed in basic training by the age of like 7, then once they did a few years of that (enough for a normal marine to go to combat), they get fucking geneticaly enhanced that little over half of the 50 trainees survived, the rest either died or were put in other services, and then they trained MORE. Read the part about the commanders test in the first book

ODSTs are normal human soldier.... they're tough as nails, they were the height in human combat, until about the battle of skopje(sp?).... but an orbital drop shock trooper is just that.... a trooper, the spartan is a weapon.... project orion and spartan II.... were children taken and trained and pushed much harder than the ODSTs from the age of 7... they're genetically augment wearing a suit that cost billions of billions of dollars....

@boogieman319 ..... spartans have 3 digit number and work in teams of 6 because they're so fucking bad ass that they don't need as much in a team as ODSTs do. they can fall from space without a drop pod, and survive.... some ODSTs DON'T survive even with there pods.... sure the ODST were the top in human military units.... the key word is WERE.... until about 10 years after harvest was glassed.... now they're pretty much little bitches when put next to a spartan

Have you ever played ODST?

They are the BEST of the BEST, there armour is better, immune to flood infection, they can hold more ammo, they're better trained and they get dropped into the heat of the action in the most dangerous of locations where SPARTAN's can't get.

In that sense they are the SPARTAN replacements.

Marines (with reinforcements) have to push to where ODST's would be deployed, usually without backup. Soo...

I'm not gonna start an argument over this, look it up if you wanna know the details.

Basically it's made of a different material that the infection forms can't get through, it's too thick. And have you ever seen an ODST combat form?

@boogieman319 Dude... the Spartan's are basically super ODST's.. They are smarter, faster, stronger, better equipped, and are definitely more versatile. In the book First Strike the Spartan's even plummet to the surface, without a pod, after destroying a Covenant ship.

@DruTerbrack24 Actually, spartans were only meant as a cheap and effective way to combat rebels to stop planetary wars. However, when the covenant came spartans were one of the only effective ways to combat them. ODSTs were still around, even borrowing armor tech from the spartans. The really only big difference between them and the spartans is the genetics enhancement, considering ODSTs had to be veterans in another branch of service already to be considered for ODST.

@NUCRAZY7 They're actually enchanced from the SPARTAN II, but had some bad effects like increased aggresion and able to take in pain like it's nothing. An Ex: I think the guy's name was Dante. So he got hit with a burn, but it felt like a scratch to him.Spartan IIIs are sent on suicide missions. That's why so many died, there was like 3 generations of them.

@boogieman319 This is a year old comment,but the only reason there is no infected ODST is because most never actually encountered one.Name a single mission where you have and ODST with you then the next,they're gone the next mission with the flood.Also,the Chief encountered the flood many times by himself. That's why there is no infected ODST's.Also, how is the ODST's armour better?They take fall damage.The Mark VI etc.doesn't.In Halo 1, the chief could carry 4 gernades each.
