  • Great job on the Video. What tape Stock do you use?

  • @JimmyJackFarm Tape Stock? you mean format? mini-dv

  • @meheh Yes Tape Stock. Example I shoot on Fujifilm DV141HD 63S. Was not sure what Stock you used.

  • @JimmyJackFarm I shoot on anything I can get my hands on, lol. Every type really. I don't really pay attention to that.

  • @meheh Well you are beyond good. Thanks for the replies. Trying to figure if I want to sell my HV30 and go to Flash Medium. If you ever have a class on the art of videography it would be very cool indeed.

  • WOW amazing video. it is so rare to see something like this on youtube. deffinatlu subscribing. do you film all of this?

  • @frisbeesman Thank you! Yes, I shoot all of it. :)

  • brilliant

  • very good !!!

    perfeito!

  • with what do you edit ? Or what plugins do you use ?

  • Wow. How are there so few views to these videos? The imagery to these videos and the story the tell are absolutely awesome in every sense of the word! Good Job!

  • @aklin102 Thank you for the nice words!

  • Jesus Christ that was beautiful

  • no shit man . . . on the subject of videography as an art-form, YOU are the guy!!!! So you challenge me dude. Truthfully, you inspire me, and this is my absolute FAVORITE. Thanks for commenting on my little vid. And just know what I just said is true my friend. Keep watching.

  • @LCSlade

    Thank you so much, man!

  • WOW. That was stunning!! very nice work! Just a question what was the song used?

  • WOW. That was stunning!! very nice work!

  • i was searching for efterklang cause this song is GREAT, im glad i found this video.

  • Beautiful clip, sweet as! Kudos, man!

  • Thank you, everyone, for the really nice words!

  • after i finished watching this video i was speechless.

    thanks for that awesome work!

(good that i still can write, haha)

  • Thank you so much!

  • What settings did you use at 0:33?? So NICE

  • i really hope you get famous, because you are so talented :D

  • Uow!!! Amazing!!! You're really love your camera... and I can say you almost get to sleep with it, in the good meaning! Am I wrong?

I also like videos, but since I prefer taking pictures, I still haven't bot a video recorder. However, what do you think is possible to do with the HD videos from a Nikon D90? Do you recommend anything else?

PS: I have some time lapses I'd like to share in the future...

  • and what mode did you use most? cause i notice some shots, the slowmotion is great so did you use a mixture of 24p and 60i

  • hot stuff man! you must travel alot to get all these great shots?

  • Very relaxing! Seriously i think you should be like a film director! You catch some amazing views with your camera!

  • I liked the fact that instead of omitting it (like most earth videos) you included footage of the 'concrete jungle' where we could see glimpses of what man has made with his superior intellect

the variety (all those different animals and landscapes) coupled with the exceptional clips were a winning recipe for one phenomenal video

    keep up the excellent work!

  • Thank you!!!! I really appreciate the insight from you!!

  • how did you get the under water shots, or were the fish just in a tank... lol

  • so can you get the blurry forground/background with just the camera or do things need to be done with some sort of software? the shot at 0:33 is that with just this camera?

  • I'm not sure what blurriness you mean at 0:33 All of the depth of field was done in the naked camera. No editing or anything like that. :)

  • oops, I meant the blurryness (the focus in on something and blur out other stuff) at about 2:06 it's focusing in on the ant and the background is blurred

also, the glow at about :36 etc

    thanks for reply

  • If you use your manual focus and zoom it'll get good depth of field.

for the glow, it's done in post. :)

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi, sorry if this is obvious but I just need to ask... you shot all this on a canon HV30? Is it 'out of the box' or do you have a DOF adapter. either way, I'm amazed! although not a videographer (yet), I had no idea this kind of image could be attained in such a camera... Your skill is amazing. Thank you for such a great film. makes me wanna get out there

  • Hey thank you very much! Yeah, it's all shot right out of the box. No adapters or anything like that. :)

  • just ..WOW!! great work man..

  • what the heck is that thing at 2:45

  • A headless camel, hehe.

  • omg where can i get this camera? and how much is it?

  • I'm sure you can get it oline for pretty cheap. Maybe $600-$700

  • I'm buying the HV40 for 503, brand new in box.

    no extras though

  • bet its a scam...well if its off the internet

  • nah, it wasn't, but I chose to get a full package for 729 with a bunch of extras though +free shipping.

Telephoto lens, Wide-angle lens, 2GB SD card, HDMI Cable, 1 table top tripod, 1 full size tripod, A few filters, Extra battery, And a few other things.

Not a scam, I've bought from the seller before.

  • I almost got that same deal, but I chose not to because of the battery. Watch out for the battery with the deal you're getting. The ones in that package are known to explode and catch on fire if tey are charging on the camera itself. Only charge the extra battery on a wall charger or it may ruin your camera. Just letting you know.

  • Thanks for the warning.

Yea, I see some "Long lasting batteries" Advertised at 13 dollars.. Lol.

BTW the extra one I got is actually Canon Branded.

  • Just be careful with it, though. hehe. You don't want fireballs of battery acid flying through your home, hehe. Do you already have it? When you get it just double check.

  • Very nice footage! I love it. So many things to see, it's all beautiful. I love the work in the video. The angles, color, contrast, subjects, etc.

How long did it take for you to capture of all of this and to edit?

  • Thank you very much! It took just a few days to capture and edit.

  • Whoops, my bad, don't want you answering the same question again and again. Sony Vegas basic settings...

  • this was beautiful. the vivid colors only intensify the power of the camera. terrific job!

    what was the song?

  • Thank you! It's "Chapter 6" by Efterklang.

  • You should also check out the band called Earth.. very interesting stuff!! Well done i like a lot!!

  • awesome!

  • wow, and i thought i was going to buy a dvx. totally changed my mind. do u have a 35mm adapter on this? also, did u use magic bullet for color correction?

  • No magic bullet. No adapter.

  • nice, very awesome footage, i'll probably now end up buying this camera

  • What do you edit in?

  • Sony Vegas.

  • amazing colors

  • wow really nice video!!!

Canon should say thanks to you, i'm maybe going to buy a hv30 and your videos really helped it taking decissions!!

  • what an amazing camera, and for the low price too!

Great filming as well, im off to subscribe

  • Thank you man! Yeah, for the price, the camera does sch an awesome job.

  • Please please mehmeh, would you share a tip on how you color your videos?

Do you just use the color corrections on premiere or finalcut or do you use plugins like magicbullet?

I have been watching your work here and on vimeo and its the most refreshing, inpiring, soulful, creative, beautiful, dreamy, arty that i have seen for long and I cant believe your not a pro making a living out of your talent. Keep going on working and sharing your gift with others. thanks for sharing...

  • Thank you so much!! :)

On coloring I just use the basic coloring from Sony Vegas. I haven't used Magic Bullet yet, but I'd like to try it out. Thank you for the really nice comment! I appreciate the kind words!

  • Oh thats realy cool to know that you've used the basic coloration on a general software, it means you dont need any fancy magic bullet. I guess the magic b. does the job for you wile you have the feeling and eye to do it yourself.

  • I have to call you out on the Disneyworld aspects, lol. Awesome job - who would know but a Disney freak like me.

You always use filters or is it done in post?

  • All the coloring and contrasting is in post. Thanks for the comment! :)

  • really great video!!! I think the shot of all the birds at 1:46 was my fav. This makes me want to get myself a good camera. I have always wanted to get into photography, I would love to be able to show people the beauty I see in things like that.

  • Wow, dude.

i really really like it !!

i'm going to buy this video recorder myself in about 2 weeks, when i finishd this scool year.

you got any tips or hints for me ??

    greetings from the netherlands.

  • Thank you! The only thing I can say is practice EVERY single day. Never let your camera or editing program colect dust. That's the best way to learn. Experiment as much as possible.

  • BRAVO, O MAN U R THE HV30 GOD!

  • wow amazing cinematography!

  • what software do you use?

  • Sony Vegas

  • very very nice job

  • how long did it take to film

were did you go for the shots

  • It took me about three or four days to shoot.

  • thats it!?

    wow very cool

    are they all original shots?

  • Yeah, about 4 hours of footage. There was a lot more footage I really wanted to use, but the video was already over 7 minutes, haha. All of it was shot by me last fall. Thank you for the comment! :)

  • Your videos are so artsy and beautiful with a slight trippy quality to them. Please keep it coming!

  • Thank you!

  • You Are So Amazing At What You Do.

  • Thank you very much!

  • genius!

  • Nice shots, the only thing I didn't like were all of the constant abrupt sounds when you change the shot. I like that technique, I just found it was happening so often that it became rather annoying. It gives a cool effect, just maybe incorporate it less often? Nice color correction.

  • It only happened for the first few opening shots. Did you even watch the rest of the video?

  • i did, i liked when it progressed actually. i just found 40+ seconds of it a little much. i still liked the shots though

  • Really a wondrous travel...great!

    You make an amazing work

    Thank for share

    Piero

  • 5 stars , love the ant when the tapping/beat comes in - - - what program do you use for color correction?

  • it looks like you apply a very small ammount of desaturation and sepia with glow

  • Not at all actually.

  • What do you do then? I have noticed that most of your shots do look similar, do you use either colour correct each shot seperatly, colour correct the entire thing after editing or have a preset colour correction? I am asking just out of pure curiosity.

  • I edit each individual shot separately.

  • Hmm.. theres just something very dark about your videos

  • Yes, they're pretty dark.

  • A very eery atmosphere... Do you choose to make it like that or is it all accidental? (which its probably not).

And why do you like it that way? :P

  • It's not intentional. It just happens. When I make a dramatic film they sometimes come out darker then I thought. In the end, I really like the way they come out. But, I don't think this video is dark, though.

  • Absolutely amazing.

  • Two questions:

What filters did you apply in Vegas?

What frame rate did you use (60i, 30p, or 24p)?

    I love it!

  • To me that looks like 24p. Could be 30, though, because of YouTube's look after compressing.

I'm getting this camera soon. Gotta get rid of my HDR-SR10.

  • It's shot in 30p and rendered out in 24p.

  • this really in amazing- as are all your videos.

I was wondering if this camcorder can be connected to a mac via firewire??

    Thanks

  • Of course it can! :P

  • I downloaded both versions. YouTube is MPEG4 and Vimeo is FLV4 and surprisingly, I HIGHLY prefer YouTube... Colors are much richer and motion contains no artifacts compared to Vimeo, especially in the drive-by around 1:20. Am I crazy ?

  • That's totally right. The good thing about vimeo, though, is that it's already on HD mode when going into it. A lot of people don't click on the HD button on youtube, so they think it looks ugly, you know? But yeah, youtube's HD quality is a bit nicer. That's cool you downloaded them. I take it you liked it? Thanks again.

  • Yes, I liked them very much. Wish I have never saw them though, I badly want a camera now...

  • Also, I'm wondering what the reason is you've downloaded the video. And how did you download the vimeo version because it's set so that people can't download it.

  • Comment removed

  • 1:48. Holy cow. This video is incredible.

  • love the hd

  • wow.

    absolutely amazing

    beautiful

    a must watch in HD

  • This is absolutely fantastic! Awesome work man. Breathtaking photography and the color correction is just brilliant.

  • Music, Music Music!! And all those flash sound are they from the music or do you get it from somewhere? if so from where?

  • PLEAQSE PLEASE PLEASE teach me how to colour correct like this in vegas!!! I am obsessed with your work Matt.

  • Dude, this is great! Did you capture all that footage?

  • Hey thanks man! Yeah, took it all on the trip I took with Ian. Are we going to get to see you guys this weekend?

  • A masterpiece! The YouTube HD is okay but it's no Vimeo. I favorited this one.

  • good stuff. what program did you use to edit the video? i love your transitions, especially those ones in the beginning. looked like a horror film :D

  • Awesome man your skill level on editing is untouchable.

  • beautiful video really great film maker!

  • amazing, as always. probably one of your best so far

  • too pixlated, but beautiful scenery. and your videos always seem very intense... i love it.

  • I'm posting a link in the description to vimeo. The compression is meant for vimeo. Thanks for the comment!

  • i love the mix of purple, and orange tints in the sunset, beautiful. the compilation is nice, however be careful of the compression.

which event was those cars turning near the end?

    MDsguy

  • Yeah, the compression is meant for Vimeo. I'll post a link to vimeo in just a second. The cars were at a stunt show in Disney World.
