There's no reason to hide the ingredients, they could be used for other things too:

A bit of rubbing alcohol and drop of scented oil turns it into anti-bacterial gel.

Rose water instead of water turns it into a skin moisturizing gel.

Xanthan gum is way better than any cornstarch or flower homemade lubes. It is made from the same the bacteria that makes your lettuce slimy. It is food grade so you can eat it just fine without worrying. This stuff doesn't need to reapplied

very often either which makes it more fun. Last of all you use a dry cloth and it won't leave you feeling sticky.

For a preservative i just use plain table salt. Increases the shelf life much longer.

Here is some follow up after using this recipe for months.

Pros:

It is non-toxic, requires very little preparation time, no waste other than the bulk packaging of the ingredients, no preservatives, no petroleum or parabens (some parabens are now thought to increase risk of cancer). The lube works really well and can be customized to preference.

Cons:

It takes some work and doesn't keep like a shelf product.

We make a fresh small batch each time and love that it is low waste and safe.

One other thing, keep the xanthan gum and vegetable glycerin in two unmarked containers in your medicine cabinet or refrigerator and it doesn't scream SEXUAL LUBRICANT! It's great stuff to have around or to travel with and the kids don't catch on. Easy access and no embarrassment :)

I can't guarantee it, but it was on their forum that I did some research that pointed me to this recipe. I think these ingredients are fine, but check with people that own one on the forum. I did read that if you use the wrong ingredients, that product have issues.

@malcomer1 Yes providing it does not contain any acid, which you find in vinegar & mayonnaise, & Oils Which you find in Vaseline, most house hold detergents all of those will corrode it

Xanthan gum is very expensive its cheaper to use KY Jelly they sell them in any supermarket & does not contain oil or acid

@fiesta1117cc Xanthan gum is expensive by the pound $17.35 a pound at my local grocery store that has bulk bins. Since one uses so litte xanthan gum it is very cheap. .10 lbs was 2.00 and the 16 ounces of vegetable gycerine was $8. So considering water is free or minimal cost. $10 will produce about 32 to 64 ounces of lube depending on how thin or thick you make it.

@fiesta1117cc Thank you. I have done the cornstarch lube before and it is more cost effective but the gelling and heating can be a big hassle . KY is cheap and available and a good choice for that reason. Another cheap lube I found online is SR8camLube it looks and feels like cum at $10 for a 8 ounce bottle or $42.30 for 1/2 gallon plus shipping costs. I think it is kinda cool. I agree on not paying the chemist price but I do like the gimmick of a lube that looks and feels like cum.

@PlantPerson29360 In the UK you can purchase K-Y jelly at most supermarkets for just £2 for 85g we don’t use the old imperial measurements anymore There is one shop 3 miles away from where I live selling silky condom lube for just £0.96p a 84g & K-Y jelly for £1.49 a 85g I don’t know how that translate in US money?

@fiesta1117cc The conversion is basically that it is cheaper than the to pick up the silky condom lube and K-Y than STR8camLube in the 8ounce size. The STR8 cam lube is less expensive in the 1/2 gallon size which I think translates into about 1845 grams. But that is a lot of lube. Also in my previous post I forgot the T in STR8cam Lube.

If it contains sugars Oils etc they are a good breading ground for bacteria

@PlantPerson29360 The problem is with homemade lube you have to add preservatives & keep it in the fridge or they go mouldy & you have to be careful which preservatives u are using ie if your using it for a fleshlight check there website to see if its compatible or if your female & want to use lube for easy insertion of tampons Or if it hurts when having sex avoid using glycerine as it contains sugar & will make virginal yeast causing infections

I think this homeaid lube would be good for blowjobs the gycerine sweetness might be a benefit. It would be better than the gaging they do in porno's to get more saliva going.

@PlantPerson29360 There is a large supermarket 1-1/2 miles away from where I live selling xanthan gun for the prise of £2.20p per 115g also a bottle of Glycerin Prise £1.50p for 200ml I have checked the ingredients on the bottle of Glycerin it says it contains 100% Glycerol it says it stops sore throats & moisturizes dry skin its in a medicine bottle I don’t know if it can be used as a lubricant? I’ll give it a try

@fiesta1117cc Your question made me wander what the difference is between Glycerin and Glycerol they are same thing just different spellings. Technically they can be made from animal fats or vegetable oils and are a byproduct of bio diesel production. I have tried it out according to the recipe in the video and liked it. @PlantPerson29360 This bottle of Glycerin I bought from Boots says it sooths sore throats & bad coughs it says dilute 1 teaspoon of Glycerin in 5ml of water 4 times a day

As for me I put 1 teaspoon of Xanthan gum & 2 teaspoons of Glycerin in small mixing bowl then add 6-8 fl.oz of water & stir then pore into glass jam jar NOT plastic ones as they will go moldy

All you need is a syringe to transport the lube I can say its much better than KY jelly its cheaper, feels better, more slimy
