  • this is great! i always have trouble answering all the stupid like "humans have been eating meat for ever" and "but plants are killed too!" questions. now i know wgat to say :D

  • this has seriously made me want to become a vegan. any tips?

  • I love this video. It makes more sense than anything I've ever seen before, and it gives me more incentive to continue on my road to being vegan.

  • Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

OK. I'm going to do it.

Sorry, this has been something that's been on my mind for awhile now and checking my subscriptions and seeing this . . . I dunno. I feel like it's kind of the final push. Plus I've always loved your videos and if you think it's in good taste, heck, I guess I better listen.

  • You just said a lot of what I've learned in my Ethics of What We Eat class. I've been a vegetarian for over a year now and you, my lady, have just gotten yourself another subscriber ^^

  • I think this was an excellent video and very informational. I live on an organic dairy farm and that is how my dad makes his living so we get milk from that and cow meat. It makes me sad to think about it but I feel like it is better because I know where it was coming from.

  • @ActsOfElegance You make a lot of good points, dear. It's got to be a tough lifestyle change! Not sure if I could do it.

  • @carriekishline Every vegetarian/vegan says that at some point before they do it! I used to make fun of vegans! <3

  • I strongly respect the views in this video and the way you presented them. I do eat meat but prefer fish. God did not give us meat to eat originally and it is my belief (no theology questions please) that we will all eventually be vegetarian. However, after man's fall from grace, we were given PERMISSION to eat meat. I believe that the root of the problems you presents are man's inability to do anything at all w/out greed being the driving force. ...cont.

  • @LisaFreemontStreet ...and meat consumption and production has become a horrible greed driven industry. When I hear arguments like this, I do feel that it has a lot of merit. It is a healthier way of living and I admire you for it...regardless of whether I feel capable of eliminating meat from my own diet.

  • @LisaFreemontStreet Good lord... You do know that we have been omnivores like our brethren the chimps since before we even have been humans (homo sapiens), right?

  • @commanderkruge Not sure what is meant by this comment but it sounds as though you're stating that humans ate plants and animals from the beginning. THey did not. Humans were created vegetarian and were given meat as a potential diet source later...however I believe the bible's account of creation and that humans were created humans. If you do not, that is fine. Please don't attempt to debate this point w/me here...

  • @LisaFreemontStreet Learn to read. I stated that humans ate meat since *before* "the beginning", meaning that the family from which we descended (the great Apes) contained meateaters already long before one of their lines produced the first proto-human.

You're welcome to believe something completely different, but *don't* expect to be taken serious with this outside the US bible belt or - even worse - abroad. It won't happen. Even the Vatican has long accepted evolution as a fact.

  • @commanderkruge If you'd chosen not to open your comment with an insult, I might feel motivated to respond. Since you did not, feel free to triumph over having the last word.

  • I like the idea of vegetarianism, but I like to eat meat. I'm sorry to say but it's really good. I wish I was able to stop eating it because I love animals and I believe they have rights and feelings too. But I think it's almost impossible for me to become a vegetarian. :/ Good video though.

  • @GSly095 I promise you, every single vegan or vegetarian has uttered the words: "I could never do it." I sure did. Thing is, that was before I knew that you don't actually "give up" anything. There are substitutes for everything.

  • I as well am a vegan and have been since I was 14 years old. Its ironic how critical people are over my LIFESTYLE. YES... VEGANISM IS A LIFESTYLE!!! Those people that mindlessly eat animals are so convinced vegan isn't healthy. While, it should be the other way around! It should be vegans telling those people " That is NOT healthy". All those people who are weary of vegan diets, please open your mind! Think before you eat!!! Ask "Where did this come from"?

    Thank you for this video!!

    -Much love!

  • Well done, babes. I'll share this on Facebook for ya.

  • @LittleLunarLullaby Thank you!

  • This is a really great video, I use to be vegetarian, and ended up having a major fail moment that ended up leading me back down the wrong path. It is something I have struggled with off and on. Being someone that grew up in the deep south and comes from a heavy Scot/Irish heritage I must say I have found it to be a tough path for me to continue on. I have seriously been considering going back to a vegetarian diet but just haven't gotten back there yet. What I love about your video is how...

  • @LindsayStone less aggressive it is and more educational than many I have come across on the topics of such.

  • @LindsayStone I used to say the same thing, coming from a strong Greek household. I've learned to cook a lot of my favourite foods with substitutes :)

  • Hey! I have been a vegetarian for 12 years now and i agree with you.

    Very good video. :)

  • lol shes wearing a beef cuts shirt :P

  • @johndoe9001 It's actually a pro-vegan shirt. YouTube won't let me post links in the comments, but I will post a link to a close-up of the shirt in the description section. Check it out!

  • @ActsOfElegance love the shirt haha :) funny and gets the point

  • I found this to be a REALLY interesting video!

I bought Kathy Freston's Quantum Wellness book and went vegan for a few weeks.

I felt SO MUCH better eating that way.

  • @NineteenPercent That's awesome! One of my friends always says it's amazing how going without an apple for a few weeks doesn't make you sick, once you start eating them again...but meat sure does.

  • Where the f*** is the "LOVE" button!?

  • Doctor Elegance is the only person in the world who has even a slim chance of taking away my leather.

  • Im a vegetarian by choice(for 10 years now and im seventeen) and i absolutely LOVE this video. thank you for putting this up on youtube cause now whenever my family decides they want to pester me about not eating meat i can direct them here. ;)

and also, you made some really great points. People always tell me that God put animals on the earth for us to eat and its SO irritating. so yeah. thanks. :)

  • @MuzicLova26 You chose vegetarianism at SEVEN years old?? That's very impressive! I'm sending you a long-distance standing ovation and lots of love! <3

  • Also, the 'more expensive' argument against veganism doesn't really fly... I switched to a lower meat diet, where I cut it out on most weekdays and my weekly shopping bill was nearly cut in half.

I could never go full vegan, but I believe whole heartedly in being responsible with out meat consumption.

  • I find you extremely interesting, real shame you don't live in the UK!

  • very well put! i've been weaning myself off animals and animal bi-products for six months now. It helps that I never really liked meat in the first place but cheese is (literally) addictive. my favorite argument for when someone says we're meant to eat meat is "oh yeah? Go two months without eating an apple then have one. How do you feel? Now go two months without eating meat then have one. I bet that apple didn't make you feel this bad."

  • i see the points for people being vegan, and im gald someone explains them in a way instead of "your evil cause you eat an animal" personally i cant afford to become vegan because well i cant affored to constantly travel to the close'st place to get fresh fruit adn veg since most of my money goes into job hunting too =/

  • @supervillan Thank you for the compliment. I never liked the "You're evil because of what you eat" approach, myself! To address your concern about veganism being too expensive, it's actually about the same or less expensive than an omnivorous diet.. Meat is expensive and like I said in the video, vegans typically spend a lot less on healthcare!

  • @ActsOfElegance yeah im scottish so so far healthcare is free i don't tend to use it much anyway, but here its strange meat food is cheap anything actually good is a half assed processed bag taht costs more tahn meat O.O ( i wish this was fictional)

  • @supervillan Then it's decided! If you are ever in the States, I shall have you over for a delicious vegan feast!

  • I love you did this. It wasn't like overly radical Peta (who put commercials of animals being slaughtered on TV for little 8 year olds to see). It was educated and reasonable and covered all sides of the argument.

    Still, Haters gonna hate.

  • @oreocookietastic Thank you! I rarely get on my soapbox (because usually when people as about it, they're only looking to argue, rather than possibly learn something new). So when I had the opportunity to do this for class, I jumped on it!

  • @oreocookietastic Haha, I just realized you mentioned PETA in your comment! There are a few seconds of footage in this of a PETA demonstration that I attended yesterday, although I don't always agree with how they convey their message.

  • So... basically Vegans hate plants, right?

  • @commanderkruge Haha, funny you should say that! One of my friends says that just because someone is vegan, it doesn't necessarily mean they particularly like animals...in the same way that someone doesn't eat babies, just because they don't like all kids.

  • @ActsOfElegance Good point that. :)

  • No hate but how about all the veggie farmers who have lost limbs due to the harvest of beans and such. Cows are not the only one's that emit methaine gas, ever try lighting one of your own farts? Besides alot of "greens" give me gas, and I don't want to contribute any more to the global warming that your speaking of. And if you want to help the earth, grow your own garden of what you want to eat and sell your car so you don't have to drive to the grocery store and contribute to global warmn

  • @Swngthng Yes, workers in other industries suffer from many injuries as well, but the frequency/severity of slaughterhouse sickness/injury/death is far greater (Check out "Slaughterhouse" by Gail Eisnitz or one of the many other books written about the issue). Also, yes, there are other things that emit methane, but broccoli farts aren't a major contributor........at all. I'm awarding you ten thousand Awesome Disco Points for mentioning "farts" in a YouTube comment!

    Hope you're well! <3

  • @ActsOfElegance Yea, that's what I'm talking about....I'm Winning.....those Disco Points!!

  • @Swngthng The topic of this school project was "Can veganism help alleviate significant world problems?" Of course there are other ways to cut down on pollution, but the assignment wasn't about those things. :)

  • @Swngthng One of the really useful facts that she mentioned was how much of a difference limiting meat and animal product consumption makes on a person's carbon footprint. So just not eating any meat one day of the week each week does pretty much the same thing as getting rid of your car, but it's far less extreme. Win-win.
