I was there in 948 Columbus Ave NYC before it all started, the lead singer created the name "Zoo York" although I was just a kid and did not realize I was surrounded by these pioneers, Marc who was like a big brother to me and his family taught me so much about life, music and culture. RIP Marc Edmonds a friend, a brother. If any one has any contact information with his brother and mother please contact me. ~Gabrielito
If anyone passing through is enjoying the J. Walter funk and is interested in the rich artistic community from which it grew please check the Kickstarter site and search “Sunshine Rebels”. Funds are being raised to tell one of the greatest stories never told. Thank you.
haven't heard this in years and years and years. John Peel in the UK used to play it and other early rap records - We'd just had punk and then hip hop was the new thing. It was so new he used to say MC as Mc like Mcdonalds and then say 'that can't be right, does anybody out there know...' but nobody did know cos it was all new to us.
don't you know there's a water shortage !!! Can't believe after nearly 30 years I hear this again and remember all the words. Thanks for posting this mate, nice one.

What?! lol
This song has nothing to do with the Zoo York company. Of course it doesn't have spirit, marketers just tried to profit off the 'Zoo York' term.

Classic and I'm only half-way through the jam. True 80's party funk! The bridge is awesome.
