  • Although Poe was a master of prose poetry, The Tale-Tell Heart was a tale. It is one of the best short stories ever written, although surpassed by other Poe tales, such as Ligeia or Usher. Adaptions and interpretations, and I REALLY like this one, are free to take liberties. In music, variations on Bach are not Bach but only add to the richness of the original. The psychal essence of the tale is given a different skew here. Why not a young woman? There's no 'supposed to be'. Art's surprising.

  • 1.The nameless narrator is generlly considered a man.

It didn't say it was nessicarily say the narrator was a man. Most people think that the narrator is indeed a man. But It never said it for sure.

  • sorry about the spelling errors. Here's the proof-read version of my coment.

2 Edger Allan Poe was an American (not so stupid now, are we)?

    3. The Tell Tale Heart wasn't a poem, it was a short story.

    4. You can't directly adapt a short story to a feature film, that's why you shouldn't make a film of Tell Tale Heart. There have been some great shorts based on it, but you just can't make a feature out of it.

  • I loved the dialect!!

Not what I expected, but it was interesting.

  • uhh yeah..im in the 8th grade and i did a project on the movie. i seriously dont understand exactly what this has to do AT ALL with the tell tale heart, except for the fact they mention murder?

  • me 2

  • me 3

  • i'm in 6th grade i've read and seen it in school 1st it's suppose 2 be a boy not a girl and he's like 40 something she's like 15

  • ITACH... different interpretations, sweetie. What YOU see isn't always the ONLY way things are.

  • Stupid americans. Do you know anything about films little 6th and 8th graders? The film is SCREENPLAY ADAPTATION of Tell Tale Heart, Tell Tale Heart is a poem, you can't explicitly change it direct therefore you ADAPT IT. That's how you make movies. No gender is associated with the lead, and the "15year old" mentioned is actually 20.

  • *considered*

and how is knowing the nationality of Poe prooving anything than a little knowledge.

The Tell Tale Heart is a poem retard, that is where its origin is because Edger Allen Poe IS A POET. However it is usually adapted and expanded to a standard short story for teaching.

Nobody said it was being turned into a feature film, it was, as stated, a Screenplay Adaptation.

  • (Part 1) I can't speak for Peter, but I think the comment regarding Poe's nationality was meant to point out that - considering the high regard held for EdgAr AllAn Poe's works and the craft used in his writings - not all Americans are SO stupid.

And I'm sorry, but The Tell-Tale Heart is - without a doubt - a short story. Poe never wrote another version.

  • So, no... it is most definitely NOT adapted to story form for teaching purposes; that's an idiotic claim. Further, Poe was NOT only a poet; he was an essayist, critic, assistant editor of four magazines, playwright, and one of America's earliest short story authors. He's also widely considered to be the inventor of the detective story and the crime fiction genre.

  • It is generally considered a short story. Poe was not just a poet. In fact, he is considered a master of the short story form.

  • wtf. why r u saying stupid americans? overgeneralizational ass.

  • The "Tell Tale Heart" is a short story

sometimes Americans dont get it but you dont get everything either

    -nice sceenplay-

  • i hate these flashing things
