this is all very interesting, but my question is "why are aliens assumed to be so far advanced technologically than us?" Perhaps the other life forms of the universe are far behind us, dragging their knuckles on the ground, drooling and breathing through their mouths. How is it "obvious" that there are extremely advanced civilizations out there compared to us. Why can't it be the other way around?
