The only and I mean ONLY consideration a snake owner takes into account when feeding his serpent is the safety of the snake, live rats are dangerous to snakes. Yet the benefits of being able to structure the rat's diet so the nutrition for your snake is more complete outweigh that. Morality is only point of view. To the point, im not sadistic, but i agree with live feeding though i have never practiced it myself. There are way too many pros over cons when it comes to feeding live food, as for suffering...there is very little suffering involved in being asphyxiated by a python; the animal usually dies in a minute or two. Freezing prey, is reasonable and i see why it is so widely practiced, however, if you are going to incarcerate an animal i prefer to make it feel as at home as possible.

I love the whole feeding process from beginning to end when I feed my boa (he's a 9 1/2' colombian redtail boa). I think it is fun to watch the very last bit go down and they are pretty much sitting straight up, movin that big old meal down the line. Nice vid man, beautiful snake.
