From 0:00 to :25 Tarkovsky demonstrates that he is a true artist. He allows the camera to follow the wind in the same way that our eyes would. Only a genius can do somthing so simple and create an image or a film that transcends what it is he is depicting. Its hard to talk about what he does, i think one has to just watch for himself and allow his films to stir in us emotions and feelings that we didn't know we had.
ive heard that some of the parts of this movie were filmed near chernobyls Zone to get that gloomy atmosphere... great movie by the way - the most beautifully shot film ive ever seen
@cheyyen Movie is from 79 and Chernobyl blowed up in 86 so there were no zone at that time near chernobyl or pripjat. It was ordinary city an ordinary plant back then.
You are right, the sublimity of the scene is prfound and the verbatum quote from the "Book of Revealation" seems very prophetic given the predicament of Stalker. In Alexander Knyazhinsky interview he was referring to Andre throwing things like Syringe, coins into the pond to enhance visual intensity of the scene. Anyway thanks for stimulating a discussion. So long.
Hmm. Clearly reading one book makes you an expert in all things.
And its not Arkadi brothers, its Strugatzki brothers, Arkadi and Andrey. They wrote the novel called "Roadside Picnic" on which the film was loosely based upon.

Really interesting how the camera slowly pans from the face seemingly in a straight line and somehow ends up back at the hand
