It would be so much better if yall didnt try to play as loud as possible. With 9 snares and 5 tenors you would be plenty loud in any venue, let alone a gym.
this 'drumline' consisted of high school students as well. Technically, it wasn't ASU drumline. It was a collaboration of drummers because not all of the people in the ASU drumline could do this gig for Keith Urban.

tenors are also so heavy these days, not because the drums themselves are bigger, but there're up to 6 drums to carry plus the shells are so thick
