@GetHalo350s and he forgot to lead his team in the very cherished, traditional hand shake line after they won the cup, that's what pissed me off the most
@TUdaToken lol ya sure, who did ytou get that from the red wings XD they were celebrating and they were just a bit late dont make a big deal out of it lol
@max432156 no dude the penguins were done celebrating and crosby was still with the media he should've told the media "oh hold on guys i got to go shake hands", that's something I don't take respect from
@TUdaToken yes they were still celebrating i watched it live so i think id no, and if you didnt realize crosby did shake hands he just missed a couple players i dont see whats the big deal, your like the first person to complain about this and were half a year later
@max432156 it's still disrespectful and I find it hard for the face of the new NHL to do that, look I think he is one of the best players in the league, no denying that but I was so infuriated by that incident, no excuses
@ prontoshadylane Yeah, God help us if the two most exciting teams in the NHL actually produced new fans. Bettman has tried very hard to not have that happen.
@prontoshadylane yeah, who would want to be a fan of the two most exciting teams in the NHL? People can like whoever the hell they want to. And just because people live in Pitts / Washington, doesn't mean they're not bandwagons too. I live in Toronto and have been a Pens fan since before most of the people on here I'll bet.
you have a point there, but are wrong about one thing: what about military kids? they're from everywhere. like me for example, my family's from pittsburgh but i've moved 10 times in my life and i'm only 16. i don't have one designated hometown.
only reason you have a good team is because the NHL rigged the fucking draft coming out of the lock out.
Don't you find it a TAD ironic that the Penguins are in all sorts of Financial trouble, talk of them relocating and then all of a sudden they win the lottery for Crosby (who just happens to be the next biggest thing in hockey since Gretzky?) that every team had an "equal" oppurtunity to win?
I said the draft was rigged to keep the team in pittsburg. the team was on the verge of moving and they magically got the 1st overall pick coming out of the lockout....
its been done before in prosports. The patrick ewing draft being an example.
my family moved to virginia i have never lived in Pittsburgh but my whole family about is from there all the caps fans down here said the series was over when dc had 2-0 lead haha i said we make it a series
The Mellon Arena didn't have full crowds even in the later stages of Mario's career, they came when Crosby arrived. But at least that kept the pens from moving.
Pens fan or Caps fan....you both have to agree that this was a great series....7 games, many superstars, a great goal tending battle, and tons of offense. I don't get the need for the slamming of Pittsburgh....they won, at least you can say the caps were eliminated by the best in the league....both teams are great....this was by far, the best series of the playoffs....and i don't think either pens fans or caps fans will disagree with that :)
What about the finals? Yes it didn't have mega superstars for the Wings, but it was great hockey right down to the wire with no sleepers in game 7. Sure, the first two may have been a sleeper expect for that scrum in the end of game 2, but it got better and better once the Pens turned it around.
the finals had equal mega stars, zetters, and Datsyuk coming back, i mean those two are just as big as any name in the nhl, my comment was driected to more of the videos content, as this was the ECSF video, not a finals...but yes, each part of the trip was great, except for poor Carolina which even i felt sorry for them, they go through Boston, and NJ only to hit a wall, but still i can't complain, i just wanted the boys to get a cup, tho living in pgh, Cowher blowing the horn made me a lil mad!
"Traitor!" Lol, sure he deserved to walk away after all he did for the steelers, but that I couldn't understand, it's one thing to go to a game, but to be used as another team's good luck charm against a team that you used to follow...that is low.
@mbkim8 it is pathetic. i wasn't even born then and i knew that. but all i hear some people say is how it all started with crosby and ovechkin, no that just made it get more attention.
don't you love how caps fans forget that they were second to last the season before the lockout?atleast pens fans actually realize and accept that we were last, caps fans act like it never happened and that ovechkin magically appeared out of thin air
And don't you also love the fact that caps fans also bring this up so they don't have to talk about that we totally pwned them in game 7? And then went on to win the Cup a third time, something they haven't even done once
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i just heard on the radio this morning from a DC journalist being asked where the capitals fit in the city in terms of popularity compared to the other teams
"well, they need to win, the tools are there, and the rivalries are there, but until they consistently win, they're not gonna sell out the building every night"
Umm, Pens fans should have NOTHING to say re: attendance or bandwagoning considering that they were DEAD LAST in the league the year before the lockout. Which speaks volumes considering that there is little else to do in that disgusting dump of a city.
those numbers are based on actual bodies in seats, not percentages. we have the oldest arena in the NHL and the smallest in terms of how many people it seats. so while i don't doubt that the statistics you bring up are true, they also don't tell the entire truth.
the year before the lockout was a tough one, but they managed to hold steady around 84% capacity, which is much better than teams in the southeast, LA and phx to name a few.
Actual bodies in the seats is the only number that matters.
Not sure where you're going with the percentages argument. In 2004, the Pens could have been playing in an arena of similar capacity to the Verizon Center, United Center, Staples Center, MSG, etc. and they still would have sold poorly. Their number of seats sold would have been the same, and the percentage of seats sold would have been even lower.
well of course it does, but when you have a team like montreal or chicago that can seat nearly 22,000 people, they're obviously going to have higher attendance rates.
84% of 22,000 is 18,480 fans
84% of 17,000 is 14,280 fans
do yourself a favor and look a little deeper into the statistics before calling out the attendance figures of a team 6 years ago. the number of seats sold would NOT have been the same, and theoretically speaking, the percentage of seats would have been
I understand the math, but not the point of your argument.
Pittsburgh drew an average of 11,877 people at home in 2003-04 -- last in the league. They'd have drawn the same number of people in a building larger or smaller than Mellon. The percentage would be different, but why does that matter?
because while that number is small (our worst year in history), its still not as bad as it looks because we don't fit that many people into our building to begin with
haha, disgusting dump of a city? have you ever been to Pittsburgh? well, i guess you do have to be a dump to be named the most livable city several times and to host the G20
face it, the only reason your city is famous is because the president lives there, who, by the way, likes the penguins and hawks
No, the Pens benefitted tremendously from some questionable, timely penalty calls in their favor -- and by the refs looking in the other direction on some very egregious non-calls through most of the playoffs. See the Game 5 OT goal by Malkin that resulted directly from a non-call on an interference against Boyd Gordon.
Pens are Bettman's favored team --or at least they were last year. Here's hoping Uncle Gary gives some other team a fair shot at the Cup in 2010.
been a pens fan since a little kid. have lots of pictures of me in my pens jerseys when i was little. now i didn't seriously follow it till 2 years ago but i saw all but 2 or 3 games this year. i love hockey. bought center ice so i could see any game i want. it rocked! GO PENS!
It really was a great series and Pens fans are getting all dick happy cuz the pens won in a blowout. Had the last game been say 3-2 pens, it would be a whole different story.
pens fans are the biggest bandwagon jumpers in the league....haha I remember back in 2000 and 2001 when the shittsburgh hens didn't have cindy crosby, and barely had any fans. now with crosby, malkin and gonchar all of a sudden you have the most fans in the league. the 2nd 3rd worst fans (in terms of bandwagon jumping, are flames fans and leaf fans. GO SENS GO! GO OILERS GO!
If you did any research you would see that the Penguins made the playoffs both of those years and even go to the Eastern Conference Final once...and there were fans to watch them play in the play offs..
ya you dumb fucking faggot, and that's because they did in the playoffs. as soon as the fucking hens shit the bed next season or cindy crosby and malkin get traded to another team, there go all your fans......fucktard
we didnt become good even when we had crosby and malkin. we started coming together when we made it to the finals last year. dont pull that bullshit about that. pens fans arent bandwagoners. detriot or boston fans i believe. ive lived in pittsburgh all my life and ahve been with the buc, the steelers, and the pens ever since i was born. most pens fans have been
haha you stupid fucking faggot shit. did you ever think that maybe I was born in Ottawa and now live in Edmonton. And they're in 2 seperate conferences.........fucking stupid shit, apparently you don't know shit about hockey.
oh and another thing, I've been a Sens and Oilers fan almost my whole life, so don't fucking tell me I'm the one who's a bandwagon jumper. 95% of pens fans are bandwagon jumpers
you cant call yourself a true fan of a team if you like 2 teams, and you have no idea what pittsburgh fans are like, we are loyal to our team no matter what, we were still selling out games when we were struggling this season, and no fans had a doubt that we would pull through that tough time
uh no. k do some more research on hockey, then come back and fucking talk to me. I've been loyal to the Sens and Oilers even when they did bad. So shut the fuck up and go blow your mom. Imma be laughing my fucking ass off when cindy and bitchkin (malkin) get traded and all you're left with is Gonchar. Half of your fucking bandwagon jumping fans will be gone faster than you can say "oh shit".
Sens and Oilers fans are THE most loyal fans out of the whole league. Now please do me a favour and stfu
you think i dont know anything about hockey, youre the dumbass if you actually think malkin and crosby are gonna get traded, and it dont matter, because the sens and oilers both suck dick anyways
you really are fucked in the head.....you fucking waste of life. seriously shut the fuck up. did I ever say they're going to get traded NOW? no, you stupid skullfucked shit, they have contracts, and once their contracts expire, they're gone. And shittsburgh winning the cup was a fucking fluke, it will never happen again in your lifetime. Fucking faggot shit, shut the fuck up, the shittsburgh hens suck monkey cock
damn someones a little jealous, and i doubt making it to the stanley cup two years in a row is what you would call a fluke, and trust me mario will sign them and sid nor geno dont want to leave pittsburgh, theyve made that clear if you would pay a little attention
and by the way just because players leave your teams doesnt mean our star players will leave us because they actually like it here in pittsburgh, unlike the long list of your players on the oilers and senators leaving: hossa, chara, gretzky, messier, and even heatley wants out. we keep our star players on our team like lemieux, always a penguin
Where were all these fans before Sidney was drafted? They could care less about hockey or the Penguins, but now that the Penguins are a good team, everyone and their grandma likes the Penguins and always have.
I'm a Penguins fan and there's no question that OV needs to learn a few things, and needs to stop taking runs at players, but some people needs to stop bashing both Crosby and Ovechkin.
The fact of the matter is, we are blessed as hockey fans to have both of these guys playing at the same time.
Unfortunately, Lemieux and Gretzky played in different conferences and never met in the playoffs. It was great to see OV and Sid go back and forth. What a great series.
Goddammit, i really hope crosby gets back alright i'd hate to see the rivalry go away.

ya you dumb fucking faggot, and that's because they did in the playoffs. as soon as the fucking hens shit the bed next season or cindy crosby and malkin get traded to another team, there go all your fans......fucktard
Wehrmacht63 2 years ago
I like when you call me dumb even though you said the Penguins didnt have any fans in 2000 and 2001...
UbaDaNooba 2 years ago
we didnt become good even when we had crosby and malkin. we started coming together when we made it to the finals last year. dont pull that bullshit about that. pens fans arent bandwagoners. detriot or boston fans i believe. ive lived in pittsburgh all my life and ahve been with the buc, the steelers, and the pens ever since i was born. most pens fans have been
pennstate51rox 2 years ago
your not a fan if you like two teams, your the fucking bandwagoner
sidthekidisnumber1 2 years ago
haha you stupid fucking faggot shit. did you ever think that maybe I was born in Ottawa and now live in Edmonton. And they're in 2 seperate conferences.........fucking stupid shit, apparently you don't know shit about hockey.
Wehrmacht63 2 years ago
oh and another thing, I've been a Sens and Oilers fan almost my whole life, so don't fucking tell me I'm the one who's a bandwagon jumper. 95% of pens fans are bandwagon jumpers
Wehrmacht63 2 years ago
you cant call yourself a true fan of a team if you like 2 teams, and you have no idea what pittsburgh fans are like, we are loyal to our team no matter what, we were still selling out games when we were struggling this season, and no fans had a doubt that we would pull through that tough time
sidthekidisnumber1 2 years ago
uh no. k do some more research on hockey, then come back and fucking talk to me.
Wehrmacht63 2 years ago
you think i dont know anything about hockey, youre the dumbass if you actually think malkin and crosby are gonna get traded, and it dont matter, because the sens and oilers both suck dick anyways
sidthekidisnumber1 2 years ago
you really are fucked in the head.....you fucking waste of life. seriously shut the fuck up. did I ever say they're going to get traded NOW? no, you stupid skullfucked shit, they have contracts, and once their contracts expire, they're gone. And shittsburgh winning the cup was a fucking fluke, it will never happen again in your lifetime. Fucking faggot shit, shut the fuck up, the shittsburgh hens suck monkey cock
Wehrmacht63 2 years ago
damn someones a little jealous, and i doubt making it to the stanley cup two years in a row is what you would call a fluke, and trust me mario will sign them and sid nor geno dont want to leave pittsburgh, theyve made that clear if you would pay a little attention
sidthekidisnumber1 2 years ago
and by the way just because players leave your teams doesnt mean our star players will leave us because they actually like it here in pittsburgh, unlike the long list of your players on the oilers and senators leaving: hossa, chara, gretzky, messier, and even heatley wants out. we keep our star players on our team like lemieux, always a penguin
sidthekidisnumber1 2 years ago
You think they can keep both of them forever?
OiLeRs17RuLe 2 years ago
sid and geno?
sidthekidisnumber1 2 years ago
