It just goes to show: lots of people think of the BBC as a crusty, old, tweedy institution but they're wrong.

What's interesting about this, though, is that such a simple trick, similar to The Maze and to a much older 'joke' on the internet, can be so effective and actually scare people.

The question of whether it's scarier to know that we're alone or to find out we're not is also borrowed (and changed) from "28 days later"

Yeah, that's why they changed it like 3 days in, and made the face morph slowly, and without that sudden burst of sound at the end. I remember seeing it on the first day, I knew the change was coming. I think they were pushing it a bit to see how much the public can take!
