Why o why cant someone bring this out on dvd!! I remember it back in 1974 when i was only 19yrs. It brings back sooo many memories. Please somebody bring it out on dvd or put it on the telly! I've been searching for a copy for years. lovely film, fantastic music.
I saw this when I was 17 and it sent me reeling, made me suddenly and painfully aware that my teenage life was achingly empty. I longed to sail the world, have adventures and most of all to meet someone like Patty. Guess it was just a crush but when I hear that song I still feel the intense restless yearning echoing down the years. I have tried to find a copy of the movie but no luck, perhaps it's best left as a memory.
great book My dad also showed me how to sail and after this book I also wanted to make round the world trip (a dream from 10 years old) my book of dove after 30 was damaged during a move I would love to find another and I looking for the soundtrack I have the movie on vhs would love to get the dvd version as I worry the tape will go bad
@dorwink If you can attach your VCR to a computer that has a TV tuner card (ask a friend how), you can play the tape and see it on your computer and record it there, then make your own DVD. (As long as it's for personal use only.)
The Dove book movie, I still have the book. Now what 37 years later, Patricia, Bless you and your child and your drams of such a wonderful love anyone could possibly have. R.I.P. to your husband , without him none would be possible <3
This is one of the movies that stayed with me for years. I thought alot about endurance and how strong love can be. I played this song on piano when i was still in primary school.
I was 14 when i saw this movie...it inspired me to travel.....and be adventurous,, im nearly 50 now and i remember how exciting the film seemed to me then ....I travelled the world by the way and still do .....
t@janpath1 IT did the same for me .. I live in Thailand now have traveled the globe and saw this film at 12 .. It affected my entire life pattern .. I sought freedom and lived for it .. Now 48 and retired
One of the greatest injustices in British chart history was that this was never a hit. Brilliant song! Mixed memories of the summer of 1974 when family life was collapsing all around me but there were places like Shingle Street and Shotley where we could escape and sail the summer winds.
There's now a video of this song with Lyn Paul singing it live on British television in 1974 when the song was released, check it out for a great version! Just search by Lyn Paul, Enjoy!
Thanks for the memmories...Great Song..great movie....I remember seeing this movie by myself, (my so called friends taught it was a sissy movie)..it moved me spiritually and filled me with courage..little did I know it prepared me for my adventure that God prepared for me as I lived in a foreign country under turmoil..and the courage I needed to live...
..as a side note Robin Graham and his new wife became christians-born again-after his solo voyage...read the book "The Dove"
Love the film. Have a copy VHS which is just about watchable on upscaling player. V.evocative tune if you like sailing - like the end sequence of Molly, too.
Lyn Paul was my favourite New Seeker, she should have sold millions when she went solo! I bought this single along with her albums and played them until they played no more. Thanks for the wonderful memories of my teenage years, and Lyn's still fabulous!
A real gem. You might be surprised how far the song and the movie had traveled. I was a kid growing up in the 70's, in China. I watched the movie in the late 70's or early 80's and the sound track became quite popular in China back then. It became part of my memories.
Unfortunatly this song did not get the airplay it deserved, I remember one DJ who played it a lot because he himself liked it so much and that's how I got to like it as well as well as remembering it from the movie. Lyn Paul was a great singer, it's sad not many know of her.
This is one of my favorite movies! When I was young, my father would read me the story out of the National Geographic of this young boy who set out on his own to sail around the would. I never forgot about this young man and his adventures. I wanted to do all the things he had done, but I never got to. So now I watch the movie and dream of a life I could have had as a young person...To all the young people out there...Follow Your DREAMS..Sail those summer winds!
