  • Official anthem of trolls.

To like or not to like... That is the question.

  • I warned you about the stairs, bro. I TOLD YOU, DOG.

  • Never understood Gary Coleman being played by a woman in the US...

  • @pilchard96 When the authors were writing the show, they originally intended the actual Gary Coleman to play himself. He denied their request, so (to get back at him) they decided to make a female perform the role.

  • @rentobbesion Aha thanks! That is brilliant, and truely in the spirit of Avenue Q.... Gary could have made some money back.

  • @pilchard96 I know right! its very clever, and Natalie (gary) is very good at the role!

  • @pilchard96 His loss is Natalie's gain. She was INCREDIBLE!

  • @rentobbesion

He didn't deny anything, he just didn't show up to the meeting.

  • song great voice too but at some parts bad cameraman

    thumb up from germany

  • Schadenfreude translates to malicious joy...

  • nofx is has been opening with this song and closeing witheveryones a little bit racist...i felt like im the only one who knew that this was from a broadway show there^^

  • I sing this song around school!

  • haha

she has a marvelous stage voice

  • omg... the nicky reacts more than gary, and shes a human!

  • Why did they replace Gary with a lady?

  • @philippinespotlight1

Ever since the begin of this show they tried to get Gary Colemen to do the part, but he would always stuff them around. So they thought stuff it and replaced him with skinny white woman. Its just been a tradition ever since. :)

  • @taylaababy19 That woman isn't white. Just saying haha

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • love this song! i love watching actor never reach the end of their speeches! xD

  • @mittROMNEY666

If u think that Germans make english sound bad, you should never listen to a Frenchman talking english... that is horrible

and just btw. everyone's a little bit racist ok, but you are simply stupid, not all Germans are nazis I know, i live in Germany but am no German and they tread me totaly fine

  • No line in musical theater history can top "Fuck you lady, that's what stairs are for!"

  • @79barkingspider

    i can concur

  • @79barkingspider Not even "Grab your dick and double click?"

  • @BurningEclipse77 Not even close. Sounds too much like "Drop your socks and grab your cocks."

  • Next they should put a song Troll :D

  • i love this song <3 luv the ladys voice XD

  • makes me feel...... HAPPYYYYYYYYY :D LOL

  • It's quiet the same thing with "Doppelgänger"... folks... it's just a word... we use "Fail" "Fuck!" "T-Shirt" or "Pullover" in germany too.., any english ppl feeling offended? don't think so... just enjoy the musical ;)

  • @SlugHelge nazis make english sound like filth. i would never use one of ur nazi words bitch.

  • @mittROMNEY666 how bout' a lil stfu? kktxbb

  • f u i love this cast ithink its the best one i love there vocies their real nice at staying on key

  • Schadenfreude (literally: damage joy / damage pleasure) - for example: when you watch a 'fail video' and laugh, that's Schadenfreude, laughing at someone who has an STD or any sickness = being an asshole, but != Schadenfreude - btw: Nazi != German... prejudices, prejudices, prejudices... goddammit people.

  • Well I'M german and yes schadenfreude IS german ! It's german like hell , but don't laugh about our misfortune or we will get mad !

  • @AlfaAston123 Oh okay, forget that, I figured out. I'm German and I was really confused, but...yeah, I got it. Shame on me.

  • @AlfaAston123 May I ask: In what language? :)

  • wholy hell! she has an amazing voice aside form her talking voice. i was a little surprised.

  • well thats funny. i am german and i knew that u americans use some german words like kindergarten, gesundheit and zeitgeist. but is 'schadenfreude' in daily use? i mean, is it just that avenue q brought this word in or did/do u use it reguluarly?

  • @RamsesXVVVII I know that I didn't even know the word until I heard this song. But that might just be me.

  • @RamsesXVVVII Schadenfreude is the word used in English for, well, schadenfreude. It is used in commom language, but I don't think many people knows it. It is way less used than kidengarden and way more used than gesundheit.

  • @RamsesXVVVII were im from we don't use it. I only know of it from avenue q but i don't know if they use it in big citys

  • why is gary A GIRLL???

  • That is German!

  • every time im in a bad mood and i sing this and imagine how bad other peoples lives are lmaooo

  • I did this in my school to make my friend happeh

I was gary and my fwend harry was nikki XD

  • I know my purpose

  • german is such a wonderful language...especially schadenfreude xD

  • @Felix18302 or Doppelgänger or Poltergeist...or...KINDERGARTEN :D

  • i like how english speaking people pronounce Schadenfreude^^

    just like Kindergarten xD

  • @juup025

I think that was just how they spoke it to make it rhyme - I, at least, pronounce it schua-den-frued, without the 'ah' at the end.

  • @shiftergoddessathena Actually, in german it would be pronouced with the "uh" at the end. That's what the "e" at the end denotes. Like the german word for please, "bitte" (bitt-uh).

  • @jesse2282 I like that lol the german word for please is ubonics for bitter

  • You don't have to wait. You just have to find the auditions. They have plenty of roles for teens and younger. If you want it go for it. I'm a stage actor. I've been acting since I was 4

  • You don't have to wait. You just have to find the auditions. They have plenty of roles for teens and younger. If you want it go for it. I'm a stage actor

  • I was on an elevator 2 days after I heard this song, and someone shouted "Hold the door!" and I was about to yell "Fuck you lady thats what stairs are for!" but my mother put her hand over my mouth so I coudn't say it. My mother's no fun :(

  • @sexydarrien44

HI, MY NAME IS SEXYDARRIEN44 AND I'M 12 WATS THIS LOL?

  • @sexydarrien44 Haha....smart mom.

  • I know the whole point of the play is the puppet thing but sometimes I think it would be a better play if it were made with real people. I don't know. Just sometimes :) It kinda ruins it to see the two people standing next to Nicky

  • @katherine9997 Like i think the exact same thing.

  • most of this plays cast is puppets? *shudder* God... this is my worst nightmare ( huge fear of puppets o.o)

  • That puppet was lip syncing. It's like someone was talking for him. :)

  • Wow she can't act o.O

  • those are the luckey ones:(

  • thats not true theres alot of kids on broadway even people younger than us (im 14 to)

  • I am German and yes I love to be SCHADENFROH sometimes :D

  • @espioz No offense, but the French suck. Right now, if it weren't for the Americans and British they would probably be speaking German. Oh and the Russians. ;)

  • W0W! NAZi words r German sweetie! U obviously don't pay attention in skool!

  • our language isn't funny :(

  • @lampenpam come on, just adapt to the environment because no one will listen to you even if you're offended.

  • @etoangfavoriteko I'm not offended, but i can't understand, why you make fun if our language. Sounds it realy funny? ^^

  • @lampenpam they arent making fun of your language, they are using it.

  • Yes, we've got a lot of funny "nazi" words. :-)

  • @AnonSphere Nazi words? You might mean "german". And if english is infested with foreign words, it's cause England and America are incapable of coming up with words on their own. Restaurant? Beef? Poultry? Pork? All french.

  • @espioz In other shows they say "Is this some kind of nazi word?"

  • @AnonSphere the original soundtrack says so

  • @espioz I believe that the word poultry is derived from the Latin word Pollus. Therefore, the French aren't all that original either

  • I'm German and I'm not really sure if I should be offended or proud... meh, I don't really care, this just made me laugh my ass off.

  • @BrawlerKen987 offended u fukn nazi

  • @mittROMNEY666 Your calling me a Nazi just based on the fact that I am of German descent?

  • @BrawlerKen987 Did you listen to the 5th song in this musical?

  • @BrawlerKen987 Everyone's a little bit racist...

  • @BrawlerKen987 come off it everyones a little bit racist

  • @BrawlerKen987 I thinks he's being a little bit racist!

  • @mittROMNEY666 Fuck you dickhead, clearly you are unable to read text, he/she said that he/she doesn't care because it's funny. Take your fucking racism elsewhere, it's truly disgusting. Do not judge Germany because of what happened 72 years ago.

  • @BrawlerKen987

it is a joy to accept the laughter of the mishaps of our personal culture. Sometimes people get too defensive.

    :)

  • @BrawlerKen987 Laughing your ass off = Proud :P

  • @BrawlerKen987

    Proud

    for definate!

this song taught me to laugh at life's unfortunate events

  • @BrawlerKen987 Avenue Q - Everyone's a little Racist

  • @BrawlerKen987 --Samesies.

  • @hatethejonasbrother1 U CAN BE ON BROADWAY NOW UR OLD ENOUGH sry for caps forgot

  • @hatethejonasbrother1 you can be on broadway!! It may not be Ave. Q, but it's broadway!! You can go on things like Hairspray, The Lion King, and other stuff.

  • They show the wrong pronounciation...

    it's

    ˈʃɑːdənfrɔɪdə

  • @RagnaroekChaos thanks you just made the world that much better

  • Thumbs up if you came here from the TF2 version

  • **fine fine line and more you ruv I meant to add at the end of that one

  • @SteezMcGee420 actually the woman who is the second arm for nicky is on the stage for near enough the same amount as the actor and actress who play nicky/rod and Kate/Lucy. Cause when she isn't playing her own characters or being the second arm for nicky and Trekkie, she's standing in as Rod/Kate or Lucy when both the characters are in the same scene, and the actor has to do multiple voices. God have you even seen the show?!?! I think the only time she isn't on the stage is during racist, fine

  • To the person below me,

    It's showing how to pronounce

It in English, not how to spell it, if you look in english dictionaries they do the same thing

  • shad´n´froi´de!

    LOL

Im german and the correct way is Schadenfreude!

  • @2moro152 no way! i'm german too, and that exact same thing happened to me too. it was hilarious, bc nobody knew the song :D

  • I love this soo much! I'm German, and some weeks ago, someone in my English-class asked what "Schadenfreude" meant in English. So I repeated the definition given here first and after I had finished, I almost died cause I had to laugh so hard. :D

  • Stupid Germans

  • @GRxSHADOW What's wrong with Germans?

  • My goal in life is to either be Nicky or play the piano in this play, so I guess I DO wana be them. =/

    Oh yeah, and @RedPill *war

  • "Being in an elevator when someone shouts, 'Hold the door!' No! Schadenfreude! Fuck you, lady! That's what stairs are for!!" Too true. x-D

  • the concept of Schadenfreude is terrible and a dissapointment result we now face in this world.

  • XD happiness at the misfortune at others.... that IS german!!! XD

  • @sansanimus thats true actually but the sad part is hes dead now so they kinda felt bad and she quit i think

  • she can sing !

  • I think Gary's acting is a bit poor. I like her voice and all but I think she could give the role a bit more energy.

  • @jamza94 After watching this clip, I agree. She's singing a song about happiness but she barely moves and she doesn't look very energetic or joyful. She almost looks too tired to move with her arms dropping for the duration of the song.

  • @evilsmallkid Yes indeed... :/ I saw this musical in London last week with a different cast (duh :/) and the guy playing Garry was HILARIOUS in this song.

  • @jakuu1231 yeah, I saw it too, just the other day, and yeah the guy was brilliant. This song sounds much less alive with this actress! Did it also have the long haired guy playing Rod, Trekkie and the blue Bad News Bear? Cause that guy was freaking hilarious with the voices he did.

  • @DistantJ Yea, it did. It was awesome x3 I gotta say though, she's damn good at force laughs.

  • @evilsmallkid But Gary's not a happy character, so it sorta works.

  • Here is the EXACT definition of schadenfraude:

It is made out of the german words for "JOY" and "INJURY". So yes, it is happyness at the misfortune of others! presisely: Joy from Pain

  • I love the song. Lol. Fuck you lady that's what stairs are for.

  • schadenfreude is a german word xD

  • schadenfreude XDDD das is zu geil, wie die das aussprechen :D

  • Love her voice, but the guy who also does Gary is a lot more animated. <3 Still amazing though!

  • VUVUZELA SOLO!

  • so me!! Schadenfreude!!! my new favorite word!!!

  • Rip Gary.

  • Best line in the whole play-

Fuck you lady, that's what stairs are for!

  • the role of Gary Coleman is almost always played by a woman. its like the role of peter pan on the stage. always a girl.

  • RIP Gary Coleman, we will not feel schaudenfreude for your death

  • @bluesoul1000 Indeed. Rest well, Gary. You've earned it.

  • @dr.fartgame While Gary is resting head over to my page and check out my band's new video "Schadenfreude Suite". It's pretty entertaining but don't shout - you might wake somebody up.

  • R.I.P Gary Coleman, we will not feel schadenfreude for your death....

  • R.I.P Gary Coleman, we will not feel schadenfreude for your death....

  • "Taking pleasure in the misfortune of others? You're right, that IS German!" LMAO :) .

So a puppet knows what German means, but BJ...I mean, Beiber, doesn't? So sad...

    -IMP ;) :)

  • RIP gary coleman :'(

  • rip gary colman

  • rofl a german word

    why`?

  • she really needs to move around more when she sings instead of just standing there

  • what the hell, Gary is a woman?

  • @JonnoJonnerz Gary is always played by a woman in the American productions.

  • personally I think it would have worked better if Gary Coleman played his own part. I don't mean any offense against the actress in this video, she is very talented (whether she is lip syncing or not, I don't care) but it just doesn't feel right to have a special appearance by Gary Coleman when it isn't actually him doing the .......... appearing.

  • @midnatz yeah, and he hasn't got much work lately, can he sing though?

  • @midnatz I don't think we'll see Gary Coleman playing anything any time soon... considering his attempts to sue the production, and all.

  • @midnatz she's not lip singing.. I've been to the show when it was in Vegas, and they sing it Live.. There is no sound tracking in this show.. As for having the Lady do it, i think it is better because Gary Coleman is a bit of an Ass, and he wouldnt do this show.. So by having the Woman play him, it's kinda an F-U to Him, which makes it even funnier

  • Fuck you, lady! That's what stairs are for!

  • umm you all appear to be the least educated Avenue Q fans...ever. Gary Coleman was meant to be played by a female to make fun of Garys high pitched voice.

  • I don't like how "Gary" doesn't sing her part, and uses the recording.

  • @akiv12801 - do you mean to imply that she's doing it in this video? Because she's not. I can hear plenty of differences from the album version.

  • @furrykef No, I mean you can tell that she is lip synching the words of the songs instead of actually singing them. I don't blame her, because she is a fantastic actress, and I think she plays the part well, I just don't like how it was like an instant switch.

  • @akiv12801 she does?

  • This is what happens when puppets pwn!

  • AHAHAHAHA, great!!

  • happyunhappy13, Let's see what YOU Ncan FILM without getting caught. Probally a CRAPPY wicked video!

  • I thought it sounded like a woman singing on the recording... The West End version of Gary is played by a man!

  • i love this song

    it's so catchy and funny

  • Although they make this mean joke of German people, I really love this song^^

  • @Midori0Akagawa HAHAHAHA! im german and i find this hilarious and its true for me, if its my friends! yes im a horrible person i dont care!

  • @Midori0Akagawa I´m German and i´m still laughing my ass off :D

  • @Midori0Akagawa every one's a little bit racist
