As for domestic policy, indefinite detention, presidential secrecy, military commissions, the Patriot Act, warrantless eavesdropping, denial of due process, all the same policies as Bush.

He actually didn't go to Congress because it would be redundant. The Supremacy clause in the constitution makes treaties the supreme law of the land. This makes UNSCR 1973 our Authorization with a 60 day limit without funding approval from congress.(established in the War Powers Act)

@Napoleonkuryakin It's well documeted that the Engish continued to EXPORT food from Ireland during the famine years. The British Prime Minister at that tme, Robert Peel, was forced out office for trying to limit those exports and set up an extensive relief effortand the man who was put in charge with dealing with it, Charles Trevelyan, claimed the famine was god's punishment on the Irish and stopped food aid. I all this know because it's part of my degree, and because I'm not retarded.

The British prime minister Lord Russell's own appointee in Ireland, the Lord Lieutenant Clarendon, was calling his government's policy there "extermination". English colonisation of Ireland forced the Irish to pay exorbitant rents and taxes, to export their crops, and to increase their dependence on the potato crop. English policies were primary contributing factors.

@Napoleonkuryakin With the colonialisation, a tenure system was introduced into Ireland that gave Protestant landlords control of 95% of the land forcing the Native Irish people to move to less fertile areas where the potato was one of the few sources of food that could be grown. The British instituted Penal laws where Irish were forbidden to attend school, to hold any public office, to hold certain jobs, to own land, or to "own a horse worth more than £10." The Corn laws had an effect too.
