  • ocd comes in different forms, it's an impulse control issue like dermatillomania which is the unconcious mutilation of the skin, I have that, I don't have to have things in certain order like other OCD manifestations, I do like washing my hands multiple times and I keep alot of hand foam, because your fingernails are so dirty, no I cannot control it alot of the time I don't even know I'm doing it.

  • Hmm, the more I watch, the more I get the feeling that this show is very Christian.

  • @Gaaraloverr1 whoa really? how?!

  • @lol2ph

Most of the episodes I've seen have some relation to "Sin" or "Devil" or "God" or something along those lines. It may just be an easy topic for them to base an episode on.

  • @Gaaraloverr1

it does appear that way, but i also think it remains neutral...you should look up s2 episode when Gideon, Prentiss and Reid go to Git-Mo to interview a jihadist prisoner...the conversation between gideon and the prisoner is quite compelling

  • @cazia9

Yeah, I know that it talks about other religions, but there are lots of Christian based things :)

  • @Gaaraloverr1 Christianity is one of the main religions world-wide, it's up there with Islam and Hinduism in terms of the number of people who practise it on some level. Because of that, there is a significant number of cases where "The Devil" "God" "Angels" "Demons" and "Sins" are an underlying cause for the behaviours that the show depicts.

It's not that the show is Christian in so much as the types of people they 'portray' have Christian ideologies that they add to their delusions etc.

  • @KaseytheJudge

Very true! Religion is a big factor of many people's lives and would make the cases in this show easier to create. However, I was trying to say that the show portrays Christianity a lot. So, I prefer the newer episodes because they came up with more ideas instead of just sticking to plain religion.

  • @Gaaraloverr1 True, the later episodes focus more on different types of obsessions - like with people, etc - and it does improve the show.

Religion is an important factor in relation to crimes but it's not the only one and it's good that the show is starting to show that more :)

  • @KaseytheJudge

    Yes! :D

  • Also, in this case, the arsonist's OCD is so severe that it is unlikely that there are many cases like this ficticious one, very unlikely, about .8 percent likely, if my calculations are correct.

DAMN, I sound nerdier than usual.

  • @floopowder1028 you and reid would totally get along well.

  • Just because you are Christian does not mean you have this form of OCD. This is very real, but not many have it, the show is not trying to offend anyone. No one is being compared to a serial arsonist, I am catholic and not offended by this at all. I think that it's good that they are calling attention to this kind of thing. Oh crap this is long.

  • @floopowder1028 true facts are true.

  • Oh! I saw this one last night!

  • Last comment. Maybe it not like being electrictuted and I'm making stuff up/ It just hurts to be punsished by God when I do wrong but it is Him correcting me when it is and when is it "OCD". Or is it a combination? Don't always know.

  • I dont mean to offend but there is a lot of similarities between spiritual connection and mental illness.

  • @thejodesta Only becuase some exesivly religious families are represive and unaccepting of other cultures leading to a form of perfectionism where he-she has to kill those who are comiting sins against God. When someone is represed too much as soon as they're given freedom they go crazy and suddenly crack.

  • @thejodesta Compulsion can be religious and religion can be compulsive, and then the 2 can become scrupulosity if the person has OCD. Otherwise, they are just intense experiences... I suffer from OCD, but not scrupulosity (though my obsessions can be about fearing committing a sin, and I am Christian). A nice book about it (funny, short, also dealing with other effects of OCD and with religion) is Devil in the Details by Jenny Traig.

  • "OCD Scrupolisty" hurts a lot. You are restricted in what you can do. I'll never murder. I'm talking about how hard it is to kill bugs.

Maybe some is God and may other is like being electricuted? Maybe all is from God and I'm exaggerrating.

  • If it's Jesus, than it is good.

  • With my OCD Srupolisty, It can be Jesus Who Is God Who became A Man Who died for my sins punishing me because He loves me. I may not know when it is "OCD" and when it is HIS Spirit living inside of me.

  • This make believe show...

The chances of getting struck by lighting every day for 365 days and bit by a great white shark surfing every day are very well within reason compared to a Born Again Christian who suffers from OCD Scruplosity doing anything like this. MY OCD srupolisty Could be like be electricuted sometimes whenI feel I sinned. Maybe it's a good thing in certain ways.

  • I have severe Scrupolisity and OCD. Been in psych wards. OCD have difficulty killing flies. It's a make believe show but it doesn't match the extreme ocd profile. OCD Scruples can't do bad things to people. Fear of God. Have difficulty killing insects. I've done it but it is tough. Like a spider in my room, I'll try to save it.

The Christian who has Scrupolsity won't kill his enemies. In self defence. nope.

In self defense nope. I suppose is somebody tried to shoot me I'd duck.

  • Lol! I have OCD but not on this level i hasten to add. This is sooo not good press for us basket cases out there!!

  • ...That is rather disterbing...getting turned on by people being burnt to a crisp...hmm...O.o

  • So he's like the Riddler.
