Tomas was either second or third dan at the time of this video. Anyone who's in the ZNKR under reasonably capable instruction should demonstrate a clear awareness of what he's doing.
That said, his tsukaate is basically blind fire. His cuts do not demonstrate proper distribution of power. They'd be fine if the enemy were the ceiling. His cuts are basically whippy and selfish. Same with his ochiburi. His overall speed is too fast and too flashy.
..sincerely hope he's put away the flash in favor of more functional and adequately-paced iaido that demonstrates deeper character.
Having said that, I'm aware this video is old. Tomas is probably at least fourth dan by now if he's still practicing. I'd be curious to see how he's progressed.
