This song was written by Donald Fraser especially for Jessye Norman. It is available on iTunes and I HIGHLY recommend getting it, the audio is much better than the youtube video (although I admit this is awfully convenient)
I just heard this on NPR and googled it. It made a 59 year old man cry. My wife was just diagnosed with breast cancer 2 days ago and this beautiful song will always be with me every day.
this makes a middle aged man cry..tears of joy, sadness, love, hope, lost of loved ones, the joy of the memories of loved ones, Jessye is so human and somehow angelic...this is what these holidays are about..no matter your beliefs.
Does anybody know where can I buy this song? I used to have it on a Video Laser, but the equipment is long gone and I cannot find a CD with it. I just LOVE this music. Like someone said, was it written for her? Thanks for sending info.
