I had my 79 cutlass stolen and never recovered. Years later I bought a 78 because I like these cars while it was getting painted it was joy rided and the factory Alum. hood was damaged. I have not found a replacment even after looking for over three years. I drive the car with no hood and when some one asks wheres the hood I tell them the body shop has not replaced it and how the car was joy rided. Thank fully the custom built 350 rocket did not get damaged in the theft joy ride.
dude i completely feel for you i had a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham and i got in to an accident last year and my front end was finished and my car got pushed two feet back and recked the trani and unfortunatly i had to scrap it but i started to tear when i brought it there and now every now and then i pass by and go see it still but i miss it so much

@gingerracoon That's true windows and dents can be fixed but the steering wheel and column are all broke up not knowing the internal damage it might have replacing all that is real Money not counting the electrical problems in there too like ignition switch, turn singles,headlights etc...
sorry to say it will take a lot more too fix than its worth the cheapest way too fix it is too fine a parts Car for 200 to 300 bucks a twin to that one
Need to invest in a Steadfast column guard for the steering column..it keeps thieves from breaking open the steering column to start the car. The club you have is useless as hell. Then install few kill switches on the car, carefully hidden so no one can find them. Finally get an "agreed on" insurance policy so if someone does steal it, you will get your money. Make sure it's an "agreed on" policy though. Oh and don't forget an appraisal. Gotta be smarter than the thieves.

bummer. I got a head unit stolen once, I dunno if the alarm helped, but they never got at the sub box and amp rack in the back. For a while after that I just used a crappy boombox and wired the outputs in to the amps and speakers of the car.
A buddy of mine did one better, he taped and layered razorblades on the back of this head unit and when somebody did try to steal it, ya the car got broken into, but the head unit was still there and there was blood everywhere, lol.

i think it is so fucked up for people to be stealing cars. especially old cars. i have a passion for old cars so yea. my 1984 cutlass supreme was jacked in columbus ohio. i was moving to florida and i came out of my hotel and it was gone. the police later found it on abanded on I 71 but it was a mess. the hot wired the car and busted the t tops and it rained that night so my whole interior was nasty and ruined. I was so mad and pissed I Loved that car

dude that sucks the people that did this should rot in hell. by the way the steering column that these cars used are EXTREMELY easy to break and jimmy the car to start up. and thats exactly why they attacked your car. they make a metal shel that goes over the steering column (i have it on my chevy caprice) so that they can't do what happened to your car. terrible terrible thing to happen to anyone, good luck getting the car back to normal.
