The best Cafe Americano I ever had was made at the Barista.com store in Munich, Germany. It was made by simply tamping with almost NO weight so that the water runs through the grounds quickly. It got a beautiful crema on top too.
I should have watched you make something decaffeinated - this is going to keep me awake now. Seriously, I love Santa Monica and coffee so it's a no-brainer to come and see you next time I'm over from the UK!
