Man i really respect your fast foreword thinking , thank you thank you man I laughed so much so bad i was rolling till i was about smash the shit out of my iMac thank you for makeing me laugh that hard and for the amazing tip ,PEACE ^_* now from now on thats how we fix stuff ^_______^ .
You can also use packing tape: lay down a 12" strip, leaving a loop in the middle for a handle. What matters most is that you pull the glass straight off -- pulling up on one corner could crack the glass.
WOW! Never in a million years would I have thought about this...or even tried this. I had some condensation problems, saw your video, brought a small sink plunger for $2.95 and saved myself a whole lot of money through AppleCare. Thanks a million! Question: what do you recommend to clean the inside and outside of the screen (i.e. a type of water solution)? TWO THUMBS UP! This works! SEE YOU IN SUCCESS!
I use an e-cloth and occasionally a tiny amount of little glass cleaner. The e-cloths are great because they clean glass without a need for any cleaning agents, and they don't generate static, so there is less chance of getting dust in once you open it up.
I bought a pack of 2 small suction cups at walmart for $2. Only takes one. Works fine. Sorry, I'd rather pay a couple bucks for a couple of suction cups than to use a sink/toilet plunger.
that is true i guess. However going on the most likely suction cup for a family to own, i would say that this one is it. And a new one costs less than a suction cup designed for it!
sorry dylan, i accidently deleted that. But anyway i don't remember shoving an "my imac is better" philosophy down your throat, so no i'm not a mactard!
I ain't touching my Mac with that shitty plunger.

pretty scary hammering down on the screen w/a plunger, tendency to crack the glass even worse?
ludtke337 5 months ago
actually you don't need any tool at all. Just use your fingernails at the edge and prise open the screen.

I have the best suction cup it's my ex-girlfriends lips it works just fine
abaali1226 6 months ago
This silly thing is you don't need a suction cup that epic and huge. I used my girlfriends suction cup from her loofah hanging on the shower tile.

You don't even need a plunger - just use the sucker of a windshield mount for a SatNav on one of the top corners.

@type17
I just did it using your suggestion and it worked a treat. Very easy and very safe. I felt it was a little more precise somehow than the plunger.
