  • Meraviglioso.

  • too fast, and soulless, imo

  • A truely stunning and fabulous performace. Not to mention the instrument truely is diety.

  • Che figata...

  • Thanks God

  • Its a shame that they block the view of such a beautiful organ with all of those lighting trusses.

  • Very well.clasic polifonic music is the best

  • the gigantic pipe organ...

can there ever be a more perfect melding of music and architecture?

  • Probably not

    :P

  • I would love to sit front row to that...

I'd probably be deaf afterwards though

  • well played i only heard about 30 errors cords, lol much better played than me

  • If I could have and play that organ, that would be ecstasy.

  • beautifully done

  • Just a few facts about the organ: It is the largest entirely mechanical organ in the world, and it has 64' organ stop. It really is the perfect instrument for the piece.

  • Sort of mechanical... it is not mechanical in the sense that traditional tracker organs are mechanical. It uses a pneumatic action known as tubular pneumatic. And a good thing too, I don't think tracker action would work well on this organ, at least not without pneumatic assistance. But the action is non-electrical, yes.

  • O.O *eyes the organ*

    ^^ cool organ

  • look at this organ! what a monster...

  • love it. it's my favorite classical pieces EVER and the main reason i like classical music

  • The chills never end. I've been listening to this piece for about 15 years and I still get the chills down my back at several moments, especially the very last part. Excellent performance and video!!!

  • Wow you are so good! This is my all time favorite classical peice and I think you did a really good job! I would love to play it but I would never be able to!

  • Beautiful. <3

  • God, look at that thing... I bet the sound is incredible in there..

  • wow, this would do good on the organ in the church i go to, handmade, incredible organ. i have to ask who made it, it's over 100 years old IIRC.

  • Very well done and beautifully Awesome!

  • Thank you for taking the time to put this fantastic video on YouTube!!

  • amazing piece, amazing sounding organ.

  • lol everytime I hear this piece I think of vampires for some reason. But thats not to say that its bad by any means.

  • lol music is interpritable( <.< I know I spelled that wrong lawl) but yeah ^.^ I tend to think of halloween-esque stuff cause of the way it sounds lol so

  • This peice is amazing...The Toccata no matter how many times i listen to it, it still floors me...the organ just makes it sound so good as well...the concert band video doing this peice isn't that bad either

  • omg....organs=orgasmic so does this song ^_^

  • why do some people say this song is scaring? well, i don't thing so, i love this piece, and i hope i can play it one day.

  • What a pity computer speakers cannot do justice to this magnificent organ..

  • Can't say I like this rendition or the performer.

  • Organs are big o.0

  • Fucking awesome piece by a fucking awesome artist. Excuse the swearing.

  • I lurve this piece, to think that bach used to play it all by himself with all the stoppers; etc. even today the most experienced organists need help... truly amazing

  • Considering he was deaf it's even more amazing. <3

  • true also ^^

its amazing how musically he was talented in all areas, but yet an organ genius LOL to think his church used to chastise him for adding complicated bits to pieces, which tbh is understandable if you are a genius on the organ, and playing a boring piece... true talent is found in making a simple piece, an extraordinary piece with just a few trills; time and key changes; and the odd few ornaments

  • lmao, bach was'nt deaf, your thinking of ludwig van beethoven

  • Bach was never deaf, you're thinking of Beethoven

  • Man, that organ is colossal

  • i wouldve never though of interpreting some of the rythmns in toccata the way you did... but i really like it.

  • A piece of staggering beauty by the greatest church organ composer who ever lived. High baroque at its finest.

  • oh my god...this..is so wonderful

it's just great, i can't describe it in words but to me it's that good...

  • That thing kicks ass....I wana get one built into my house.....aww, so powerful

  • erm.....dun reali lyk the sound of the chords...though its big but aint nice..

  • close, your starting to shake the buildings

  • I like the playing very much, but not the timing. But that is a matter of taste, I think.

  • Ok I love it!

  • I like it!

  • Did your assistant add the 64' Contre Trombone at 9:24?

  • That's correct.

  • Brilliant piece I wish I could play like that.

  • I stand in awe of the majesty of this great music. It takes my breath away to listen to such a genius.

  • ilovemybbgun (1 month ago)

wow his timing is so off he need a copy of the recording

if im not mistaken last time i remember, Back has actulaly marked down all the tempo arrangements throughout the piece. You should check the music before making statements like that :)

  • tremendous mate, two thumbs up!

  • Totally awesome!

  • very good, I enjoy listening to it. So... well played.

  • wow his timing is so off he need a copy of the recording

  • ...but the way to play from 9:14 - 9:25 was unnecessary. Instead of that, I'm proud! The organ is fantastic as well!

  • It's an excellent piece of Bach! I play it myself, nad I have to tell you that it's way more difficult to play than it looks! A wonderful piece and fantastic playing!

  • btw, fyi some people dont think bach composed this piece. there is some strong musical evidence in the piece to suggest otherwise. ps. this piece is crazy hard!

  • Your right, some people think it was composed for violin by a student of Bach's. Those people are crazy. Their evidence is that the piece does not contain a chord which contains more than 4 notes, which then leads them to conclude that it is a violin piece, and that it is uncharactersitc for Bach to have written a violin piece in this style. The part which they fail to explain is how a violin is actually supposed to play this.

  • didnt know that! there are quite a few chords which have quite a lot more than 4 notes though from what i can remember. you should check out the guy who plays this on guitar. mad. still, sound best on a large organ

  • It's slightly more complicated. The final chord is d minor whereas the convention before 1750ish was D Major with a raised 3rd-a tierce de picardi .'. it's copied from a solo violin piece lacking. But we don't know for sure it wasn't played with a Major Third-a convention taken for granted. So the argument'is thin. 18 Century tradition is that Bach wrote it. It does suit some music snobs who don't like the popularity of the piece and associatioin with vampires, though! ;)

  • Wow, amazing

  • Bach should not be called 'Bach' [Brook], but 'Meer' [Sea].

    Ludwig van Beethoven

  • What an amazing organist you are. However, I do want to comment, your choice in tempo changes is very odd. As a fellow organist (who has a hard time playing this piece) I think you play it marvelously, and hope to see more vidoes of you playing.

  • WOW! bach's really remarkable for composing such grand organic music :D

  • Is the 64' reed the low D used in the beginning?

  • The 64' is only used at 9:24

  • excelente! un monstruo el tipo

  • geil

  • uber

  • Bach die ubermensch!

  • What's great about watching someone play and not just listening is imagining Bach sitting there playing this

  • How breathtaking Bach's music is ! Have you got more videos of this great organist playing that organ?

  • If you ever get to Sydney, don't miss hearing this magnificent organ in concert. The full-length 64' reed always gets attention, but the instrument overall is beautifully voiced and it sounds splendid in the room. I am fortunate to know Robert Ampt, Town Hall Organist, and his wife, Amy Johansen, Sydney University Organist. One day in 1998 I stood in the center of the hall (empty that afternoon) while Amy played Gigout's "Grand Choeur Dialogué." The music from this organ was glorious!

  • The reeds 64'... terrific! :-)

  • bach is a genius...you know what Bach means in german right?

  • You hear this piece alot... its not till you see someone play it that you can truely appreciate the sheer size and complexity of the structure. Absolutely mind blowing and an almost spiritual performance.

  • Fantastic! This came on my ipod on the bus today, i had to see if there was a video of anyone playing it. Such an amazing piece of work played beautifully! Five stars

  • That was absolutely wordless, well done.

  • wonderfull, how's called that instrument?

  • Organ

  • PS All the pipes you see in the video are part of the organ. Because of its gigantic size and tremendous building cost, only churchs and palaces can afford such instrument in the past. To play an organ, you need to play the keyboards with both your hands and feet. You also need to control the buttons at the side.

  • guitar

  • Hahahaha!

  • wow! i appreciated the music before but to see it played

    thats insane

  • Really Great

  • absolutely as close to god as u can get, absolutely fantastic

  • no you dummass! this song is the description pure satanistic evil human spirit! god sucks! go listen to allelujah stuff..

  • Your ignorance is apalling! Bach was a deeply religous man, who dedicated many years of his life to writing music for the glory of God! The Satanic link is because this was used in the silent film Nos Feratu!

  • WOW, you are an idiot. You should never speak of Bach, or his music like that again, as Johnlem59 stated, Bach was a deeply religious man, who would never have considered composing a piece to cause anyone to think of evil. I think you should do some research before you consider suggesting something as extreme as that!

  • hwy bach didnt suggest evil he suggested humanizm..he suggested that god should be within us as a generator of the apsolute human, the superhuman..read nietzche or listen to wagner and you'll get my idea

  • hehe, you're the dumbass, and learn how to spell, AND, you're a fucking dumbass!! my GOD!, and, Joahn Sebastian Bach was a straight religious man.

The fact that some guys use this song in vampire movies doesn't means that the song was meant for that.

    P.S. you're a fucking DUMBASS!!!!

  • This obviously wasn't a happy yay-god piece. It was meant to sound dark, but it wasn't necessary EVIL either. You people need to calm down.

  • this song is awesome. luv the drama. for the ppl who watch naruto out there this is orochimarus theme song...not the whole thing but part of it and they tweeked it a little for his theme. im trying to learn to play it
